Good Morning!

It is supposed to be a beautiful day again here...high 85, sunny low humidity...a perfect summer day! I am determined to get back on track with the workouts...doing legs today.

Garance:
Wow James Taylor..a blast from the past! How was it? Did you buy much at the outlets? I love outlet shopping! I am not much of a shopper, but for some reason, outlets are different for me. I can get into that type of shopping. I can picture you DH stalking around the property with a shotgun, and the groundhog hiding behind bushes etc chuckling..:7

Linny, Josie:
Hope you are having a great weekend!

Here is the 4th of July pic...Deb

Hi Deb--

Love the photo! All decked out in old glory.

This morning I did Christi Taylor's Dance Fit (70 min.).

You know, I didn't buy a thing. I just helped DS buy a pair of dress slacks, dress shoes, socks, and a dress shirt for wedding he is going to next month. All he has are workout clothes, because he's the trainer in CATZ. Some big sales, though, going on up in Manchester. And the number of shoppers seemed relatively small, probably because of the recession.

According to my son, John Travolta and Carole King showed up at the Taylor concert, which is an annual event on the 4th at Tanglewood, to celebrate Taylor's 60th birthday. Yo-yo Ma played a version of "Sweet Baby James" on his cello. My son loved the whole thing.

Yep, the groundhog is still taunting DH. Last night he ran for hiding into a big logpile before he could get a shot off. The drama continues.

Enjoy the waning hours of the long holiday weekend!

Good Morning!

Well the wonderful summer weather is now hot and humid weather.. it was so humid yesterday, I could hardly breathe. When it is cooler in a non-air conditioned house than outside, you know it's hot!}(

I did a new I-Tread this morning. One with only a 1% incline, and fast speeds.

Garance:
The concert sounds great..I would love to see John Travolta in person..he was down the road from us staying at the Ritz Carlton in Cancun one year. We didn't get to see him though. Too bad you didn't find any good bargains for you at the outlets.

Linny: I hope you had a good time at the lake!

Josie: I bet you are off somewhere doing a good workout for yourself!

Have a great day!

Deb:)

Hi Deb and Linny--

This morning I did Cardio Dance Fusion (45 min.). I felt really sluggish because of the humidity. Sounds like the rest of the week is going to be classic Bermuda high weather.

I am a big John Travolta fan, too. It's hard to believe, but Saturday Night Fever came out 30 years ago!

I made another salmon dish last night--a Chinese style marinade and served over sauteed bok choy and mushrooms. Really good! and easy to make.

Are you back from the lake, Linny? A week from today, I will be on the Jersey shore. I just hope Bertha doesn't spoil my vacation.

Hi Ladies:
Just a quick hello before naptime.
Deb: I love the picture of Keegan and Kelsey. They look so well behaved.Hope Keegan is getting better with nights.
Garance: I love John Travolta too,he seems like real person.I have Grease and Saturday Night Fever on dvd.My DH thinks I'm crazy getting them.
We did go to lake,no water for me.I'm still scared to go in.I did meet my son's new girlfriend.Definitely in her 60's,she was a very nice person and they do get along very well together.Just kinda weird seeing my son with someone that much older.
Its DH's birthday today so he had special dinner(chicken spinach lasagna)and I made a carrot cake.
Gotta go to bed,have a great night~Linny~

Good Morning!

Well I attempted to do a HIIT 20 min treadmill followed by Slow & Heavy Chest...only got to do the S&H Chest workout.. need to cut down the time since the little "K" was not cooperating with his "schedule". It is still hot & humid here today. I work out in our basement where we have a dehumidfier running all the time. It was so pleasant down there today, I didn't want to come back upstair, and when I did it was like walking into a sauna. }(

Garance:
You make such nice dinners...my DH would be envious..( of course I would not tell him!)..I also am a big John Travolta fan.. I love him in those Baby talk movies! Actually like him in all his movies! How is the groundhog hunt going? How long will you be at the shore? Looking forward to my Murad stuff..it should be here any day now!

Linny:
Glad you had a "hive free" time at the lake!...meeting your DS's friend must have been a little uncomfortable. Your dinner sounds so good:9 ..another lucky DH! My DH is the "cook" around here and I do all the cleanup..it works pretty well I must say!

Hi to JOsie!

Deb:)

Hi Deb and Linny--

This morning I did Jari Love's Get Ripped and Chiseled (62 min.).

Very hot and humid here as well, but I'm trying to enjoy it by remembering this past winter and how many layers I don't have to put on now. Just a backless halter sundress and sandals.

Yep, the groundhog hunt is still on. DH fears wounding the little vermin and then he'll run under the deck and rot, so he's trying to get the "perfect shot" off. I just say, "Yes, dear--I'm sure you will."

Linny, you'll have to post your lasagna recipe. I do this one from epicurious.com that uses frozen chopped spinach and store bought pesto layered with ricotta, mozzarella, egg mixture and store bought pasta sauce and topped with fontina. There's no way I'm making it in this hot weather though. It also uses those lasagna noodles that you don't have to boil--just layer and put in the oven. It's a favorite of both DH and my sons.

I'm 61, and sorry, but I cannot imagine consorting with a young man in his 30s. It would be too much like my sons I think--incestuous. Hey--whatever works!

All I have on my face today is the essential-c stuff. You'll have to let me know what you think, Deb. I'm going to be gone from Saturday the 12th through the following Sunday.

Hi Deb and Garance:
I feel like I'm melting.Too bad when its this hot that the fat would just melt off.
Deb:Sorry to hear that Keegan is still having training issues.I know what you're saying about staying in the basement.I had to have the air conditioner on today to sleep. It was stifling coming out of my bedroom.
Garance:Good luck to DH on groundhog hunt. They can be so destructive.
I cannot picture myself with a 30-something man,I would feel the same way.Heres my version of chicken lasagna:
2pds of chicken
1 onion diced
2 cloves of garlic
Cook in 2 tablespoon of olive oil.I usually add jar of organic tomato sauce or add your own.Cook 9 lasagna noodles.Layer some sauce, then 3 noodles, sauce with chicken, fresh baby spinach(1/3 pkg)then 1/3 cup of feta cheese,3 slices of provolone and 2oz mozzerella, repeat layers ending with mozzerella on top.Cook at 350 for 35 minutes, let sit 10 ominutes before serving.
Well going down for my nap.Have a great night~Linny~

Good Morning!

No workout today...little K is having some problems ( ok..he is has been puking! no easier way to say it!)..so I am watching him to see if he keeps this meal down. I am such a worry wort!

Garance:
I agree that we should not complain about the heat, when you think about what we endure in the winter months! It is so dang hot here though..here I go complaining!}( ..I love the continuing saga about DH and the groundhog! Why does he stick around? ( I mean the groundhog not DH of course!)..Got the Murad yesterday..will start using it today..

Linny:
We only have one window air conditioner, that we usually put in the bedroom. We have not taken it down from the attic yet.. I actually prefer not to use it because I can;t stand the noise.. it makes for the most interupted sleep I have ...actually worse than night sweat sleep if you can imagine that!

Thanks for the recipes. They both sound wonderful! :9

Have a great day and try to stay cool!

Deb

Hi Deb and Linny--

This morning I did Cackle and Shriek (60 min.).

Thanks for the recipe, Linny. It looks pretty healthy and definitely worth a try.

Pursuit of the groundhog goes on. So far he hasn't invaded DH's garden, around which there is an electric fence, but DH fears he could tunnel into it. A couple years ago my younger son was out in the pasture and killed a groundhog with a thrown rock. David and the groundhog. Last night DH kept getting up from his favorite show--The Deadliest Catch--to throw on the backyard lights and see if the little vermin was up and about. He really does get obsessed with these battles. Several years ago he created an alarm because of a raccoon who was climbing up on our back porch during the night looking for garbage. Sure enough, the alarm woke us up and DH stealthily arrived to catch the raccoon off guard and shot him. I think he has never gotten over his two years in Kentucky--where everyone thought they were Davy Crockett--as a young hippie trying to live off the land. The nearest town had one restaurant named EAT.

I'm not a big fan of air conditioning either. We have a log cabin style house and cannot even use air conditioning. Because we live on the side of a mountain, though, it seems to cool down nicely every night after about 6.

Hope little Keegan is okay.

Hi Deb,Garance and Josie:
Its a hot one today,90's.When I left work today at 8:30 temp was already 81 degrees.Maybe I'll try going into the lake this weekend. This weather should have definitely warmed the water.
Deb:poor little Keegan.Do you think he ate something he shouldn't have? Hope you got in a workout later. Had that air conditioner running again. Most people that work third shift need a background noise to help them sleep.Usually a fan,the air conditioner helps drown out the kids that play next door.Between the ac and ear plugs I usually don't hear a thing.
Garance:We had a groundhog a few years ago when we had a garden.I can't remember what DH did to scare it away.Your DH does sound like Davy Crockett.Hope he catches the little bugger.
The state was suppose to come in today to see if facility is following plan of correction. So hopefully they will have been cleared.Have a great nights ladies~Linny~

Good Morning & Happy Thursday!

No workout today, I took today and tomorrow off from work to take dogs to the vet... if you can believe that ! Keegan goes this morning for his last "puppy" shot. I will mention the puking, although he has kept down his last few meals ( thank God!), but seems a little off his food..then Kelsey goes tomorrow. We decided not to bring them together, because Kelsey is terrifed of the vet and she made Clancy be that way just by watching her when we took them together. Keegan has no fear and loves all the people in there. He thinks its a great adventure, while Kelsey thinks she is going into a torture chamber or something!

Garance:
Love the updates on the DH and GH battle! Keep the info coming! :7

Linny:
If you decide to go into the lake, bring some Benedryl or something in case you get a breakout!...yes I remember when I worked that shift especially in the summer, all kinds of stuff going on outside that you had to drown out with something like an AC.. Sending good ((Vibes) that the state cleared the facility.

Josie: where are you?

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb and Linny--

This morning I did Ellen Barrett's Slim Sculpt (45 min.).

Well, thunderstorms rolled through yesterday afternoon and today everything is cooled off and low, low humidity.

Nothing to report on the groundhog patrol. We think all the missed shots might have scared him a bit, or just possibly this very beautiful fox which seems to have taken up residence in one of our pastures has moved on from rabbits to groundhogs for prey.

So, Deb, are you going to start watching this new show, the Greatest American Dog, that starts tonight? I'm going to give it a try because the trailers they keep showing look fun. There's one clip of an English bulldog on a surfboard and I think being pulled by a boat, looking like she or he is having the time of its life.

So tomorrow is my last workout for awhile, since I'm headed to the beach and do not plan on doing more than my requisite 3 mile beach walk every day.

Hi Deb and Garance:
Humidity has left us,thank God.I hate this weather especially when I'm trying to get ready for work.Take my shower then start sweating when I'm trying to get dressed.Yuck! No state in yesterday, corporate people came in today to make sure everything is ready when they do show up.Maybe today. Its been pretty busy at work, last night I worked from 10:45p to 8:30am without a meal break.I tried to sneak in a few bites of yogurt between patients.I'm soooo glad it is thursday night and no work till monday nite.
Deb:Smart thinking taking Keegan separately to vets.I'm sure that he would pick up on Kelsey's vibes.Glad to hear that Keegan is feeling better.Hopefully you'll be able to get in a workout sometime.I think Josie said she was on vacation this week.
Garance:Lets hope Mr.Fox took care of groundhog.Maybe your DH will be able to relax now.Are you going on vacation next week? Will you be able to post?I'm going on vacation the week of the 20th,one more week to go.I may be looking around for job too.I hate this going for one job to another.I like continuity in my jobs.Actually the place where I was Assist Director is looking for a third shift nurse. If its at their other building(different director) I may apply.I really don't want to work under previous Director.
Well its almost nap time have a great night ladies.~Linny~

Good Morning and TGIF!

Today I get to go to the vet again...this time with Miss Scaredy Pants, who will be shaking like a leaf, panting trying to pull me out the door the whole time. ..Thank goodness she is only there for a heart worm check. I will try to get an I-Tread in some time today.. go. I thought about doing the I-ClimB circuit one only using the TM so I get some weight work in. I like this one because the do the reps with the weights really slow so I can go heavier than normal.

Garance:
We are getting rain right now as I am typing this. We needed it badly. Do fox go after groundhogs? I forgot about looking at that show x( about dogs.. did you see it? was it worth watching? I think walking 3 miles on the beach is one great workout! Have fun! when will you be back?

Linny:
I hope things turn out ok for your workplace..maybe you need to go somewhere else? Was the last place you worked closer to home or farther? It sounds like you are tempted to go back. Where will you be going on vacation?

Have a great day !

Deb

Hi Deb and Linny--

This morning I did Leslie's 4 Fast Miles (music only). 50 min.

We are leaving for the Jersey Shore tomorrow and won't be back until the 19th, so I will be away from computers for awhile and not posting.

The Greatest American Dog is really pretty funny. The dogs maintain their dignity and poise while the owners are hilarious. I'm going to keep watching this one for the laughs.

Linny: Wasn't your last position with a visiting nurse facility? It sounded, if I remember correctly, that you saw clients in their homes and wrote reports. Your current situation seems a bit difficult, what with no breaks, the night shift, no support staff at times.

Bye for awhile ladies!

Hi Ladies;
Deb:Hope all went well at the vets today and that you were still able to get in a workout.Thats what I plan on doing next.We are going on vacation to the lake(as usual). My vacation is week of the 2oth.Sounds like it may be just you and me next week, unless Josie is back from her vacation.
Garance:You are right about visiting nurses, but right before that I was working as a Assist Director till my new Director drove me crazy.I was working as a third shift nurse there till the Administrator approached me about Assist Director position. The facility is only 15-20 minutes away and I did like working there when I was on third. We'll see.Have a great time on vacation.

Well the state came in yesterday and cleared us.I bet the DON and Administrator went out partying last night. So now they will be coming back every 6 mos instead of annually because all the mistakes made.
I'm going to try and get a workout in before I leave for the lake today.I know DH is pushing to go tonite,I'm just not good company when I only get 3-4 hours sleep.I probably won't be posting till sunday or monday.Have a great weekend~Linny~
