Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 3/16

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

Today I did Christi Taylor's Fit to Dance (70 min) which is intervals with 5 pound weights and ends with an abs workout that you REALLY feel. Love Christi in this one--excellent cueing and terrific music.

I'm on Spring Break now--one more week next week, then it's back to teaching. I'm done with grading, but now I have to revise my Oxford talk for a collection to be published by Oxford University Press. I will start that today and finish next week, I expect. DH and I are off to see our sons in Boston this weekend, so I will be taking two days off from exercise.

My older son just turned 26, and my younger son just turned 24. I didn't have children until I finished my first book. I knew it would be a total distraction from writing for a few years, so I wanted to make sure I had some major work done before babies.

Gosh, it feels like January here--a totally nasty wind chill.

Are you going to turn into a weekend warrior, Linny, and exercise non-stop for three days?? Just kidding.

Have a great weekend everyone. I probably won't check in until Monday.

Happy Friday!
Deb:Happy weekend to you too! My DSIL sent me a cute email,it made me think of you.Is it alright to send it too your email address?
Yeah, all managers,ADON and Director share On Call duty.No Thanks!
Josie:My kids are 33,almost 32,and almost 21.The oldest sometimes is a little bossy with the 21yr old.Likes to tell him what to do.Have fun on your roadtrip.
Garance:Lucky you on springbreak.Actually I'll be able to workout fri, sat, sun and monday since I don't have to go to work till 10:45pm on Monday nite.I hope I can get use to third shift again.I think I'll be able to workout everyday except tuesday and thursday. So 5 out of 7 isn't too bad.If I can just adjust my diet to eat healthier I think I'll be able to lose these 20+pounds. Have fun in Boston!
I hope all of you Ladies have a great weekend.~Linny~

Good Morning!

Well I am bummed out..the little family restaurant that we were taking our family to for breakfast had a sign out last night that the kitchen is under construction so they are closed for now..Ugh! After I talked to them 3 times about going there for Easter Sunday breakfast with 12 people! I am really pi**ed off! DH and I will be cooking breakfast for 12 tomorrow.

No workout today...it's my rest day. I am making lists for shopping, cleaning the house to get ready for tomorrow!

Garance:
all of those DVD's you mention sound so good, however I don;t like working out for more than 50-60 minutes. The only day I can do that is Sunday. Have a great trip!

Linny:
absolutely send me the e-mail! I think you will adjust to the new work shift..what hours does your DH work?

Have a great weekend!

Deb:)

Hi Ladies:
Deb: Congrats on your Ebay win.I Ebay on occasion, mostly for DS's cds. I wasn't able to send the email,I think because it had an attachment.Weird! So I'll type it here.

This is on of the kindest things I've ever experienced.I have no way to know who sent it,but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the postal service.

Our 14year old dog,Abbey, died last month. The day after she died,my 4 yr old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven,God would recognize her.I told her that I thought we could so she dictated this words:

Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you.I miss her very much.I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim.I am sending a picture of her so when you see her, you will know that she is my dog.I really miss her.
Love,Meredith.

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven.We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet.I told her that I thought He had.
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, To Meredith, in unfamiliar handwriting. Meredith opened it.Inside was a book by Mr.Rogers called,"When a Pet Dies".Taped to the front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey and Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith:
Abbey arrived safely in Heaven. Having the picture was a big help.I recognized Abbey right away. Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart.Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven,I don't have pockets to keep your picture in,so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.
I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.
By the way,I'm easy to find,I am wherever there is love.
Love,God

Linny:

Oh that is so heart warming...there are some wonderful people in this world..we only hear about them infrequently, but things like this remind us that they are out there. Thanks so much for sending this!

Deb

Good Morning and Happy Easter to all!

I got up at 4:45 and had some much needed coffee before doing the Pyramid Bonus Combo...Wow that is a good workout! Now I can do the upper and lower splits this week to hit each body part twice.

We are getting food ready for the family brunch..we are having a Cheesy Sausage/egg cassarole ( not healthy at all!), fresh fruit salad, bagels, multi-grain bread, croisants, pea-meal bacon, and pork sausage patties. The only "clean" things are the multi-grain bread and fresh fruit, but my family is not known for eating clean so I have to give them what they like..

Anyway I will try to be back later for personals...my Dad and his wife want to look around at houses in the area after breakfast. They are selling their house and want to move closer to all of us ! Yeah! I am looking forward to having my Dad close by again.

Have a great day!

Deb :)

Happ Easter!
Deb: I thought you might enjoy that email,I thought it was sweet.
Sounds like you'll be needing an extra workout with that brunch.I get my new Cooking Light magazine yesterday and they had a reciepe for sausage/egg cassarole. They used a mixture of eggs and egg subsitute, turkey sausage and lowfat cheddar cheese which cut down the calories mucho.I hope your Dad is able to find a house close to you.
My Easter was a little uncomfortable. My older DS came over after Easter meal and my DH is still holding a grudge about the incident that happened in the fall with the apple picking blow-up.So they did say hello to each other but thats it. I have a feeling that this summmer is going to be a problem with us being at the lake and DH not really wanting my DS there. Why are men so pig-headed at times?
Hope you other ladies had a nice holiday~Linny~
