Good Morning!

I was "computer free" yesterday, did not sit down once to check out e-mail or anything...I did the lower body of Power Hour yesterday, and an I-Tread this morning at 4:15.

Garance:
Sounds like you had a nice birthday dinner! Thanks for the info on the body lotion..

Linny:
Yes! A jacuzzi sounds like a dream! Do you have one at your house? That would be wonderful on a cold rainy day...with a hot cup of tea or glass of wine...mmm.

Josie:
Hope you had a good weekend!

Deb;)

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

Yesterday I did Kelly C-M's Cardio Sculpt (70 min.), and this morning I did her horizontal premix on Cardio Kick Step-Boxing (48 min.). I have these cardio routines down now, and I am really enjoying them a lot.

Celebrated my birthday and my brother-in-law's last night over at their house. Nice to have one slice of cake and then just leave it and not worry about further temptation.

Sounds like you really get into the Christmas shopping, Linny. I, on the other hand, wait until the last minute and never know what to buy or how much to spend. Sounds like a lot of people are tightening their belts this year.

Brrr--really sharp plummet in the temperature here. High 60s on Sat'dy, and today it cannot get out of the 30s.

Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend as much as I did. Paper-free! Tomorrow, though, I have another set coming in, so I will be grumpy.

Good Morning Ladies,

I only walked for one hour on Saturday and did the 5k on Sunday. The air quality is terrible here in LA due to all of the fires aroud us. I did not work out this morning, because the air is still bad, my car was covered in ashes and my gym is in the garage and I would be breathing the bad air.

I will probably go to the gym tonight and take a spinning class.

Garance, I'm glad that you had a good birthday, I also had a Manhattan on Friday.
We went to see the James Bond movie and I almost fell aslep. It was just ok for me.

Deb, I'm glad that you got some sleep. I'm also an early riser and do not need a lot of sleep anymore.

Linny, I can just imagine your credit card on fire. I usually wait to the last minute and do well becuase of all the last minute sales.

Well ladies. Have a great day.

Josie

It's Tuesday!

...and it's freezing out there! Good Morning! We got about 2 inches of snow last night, but it is bitterly cold..at least for November. Right now I think our bodies have to get used to the cold...this would seem like summer to me if this was January!.

Today I did Chest & Back from Power Hour. I am splitting this one up this week into 3 workouts...hopefully with cardio on the days in between.

Garance:
It's nice when you find workouts that you really like...the time seems to fly right by! You had a nice birthday, with 3 different dinner celebrations!
I wish I could just have one slice of cake..:(..sugar is my downfall. I am better off with none. I did ok yesterday, no sweets. I resisted all the Friendship bread that I brought to work to get rid of. I still have 1/2 of a lemon poppyseed here. On Tuesday I am scheduled to bake one again, this one will be a pumpkin spice, then I am done. I have not even thought of Christmas or shopping, except to begin thinking about making the calendars for DH's mom and my dad. They each get one of those calendars with pics for each month etc. I do it through Snapfish.com.

Josie:
only one hour?? what is wrong with you girl? just kidding! Too bad about the air quality. I guess every area has its good and bad points. We have great air here...only its 25 degrees!

Linny:
How are things with you? Is work going ok?

Have a great day ladies!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's 30 min. back, chest, and legs and 2 miles with Leslie for 60 min. total.

Yep--it's mighty cold here, too, Deb, with occasional flurries. Time for comfort food. I made an absolutely scrumptious boeuf bourguignon and mashed potatoes for last night. Perfect weather for it.

I've been seeing those awful fires in California on TV, Josie. It sounds like you live far enough away to be safe (?), but I can only imagine what the air quality must be like. It also sounded like the winds were at tropical storm levels and the temps up in the hundreds. I guess I'll take my 32 degrees any day over that.

Watched DWTS last night. I have a sneaky feeling it's going to be either Lance or Warren. Brooke really did poorly on one of the dances, and I suspect she doesn't have a big fan base.

Final class on Antony and Cleopatra. Cleopatra's decision to foil Octavius and kill herself with asps.

Hi Ladies:
Been pretty busy with family this past weekend.I was going to post last night but I had a weight loss coach call last night before nap.My work has a incentive for reimbursement if we did wellness classes.I picked weight loss this time.My coach will call every other week and we will figure out a weight loss strategy.Hope it works.
Deb:Yes I do have a jacuzzi in my master bath.DH and I take one every saturday night.Light the candles and turn on the music. So relaxing. It is freezing here also.Left work this morning and it was low thirty's brrr!
Garance:I am a shopping maniac.I can't pass up a good deal. But I am doing better than last year.DH said that UPS man asked him how come he hasn't been over as much as last Christmas;) Glad to hear you had a nice birthday.I hope I can get someone to take my birthday cake home.
Josie:So glad you are away from fires.I read that 800-1000 houses were destroyed. Take care~Linny~

It's Wednesday!

Good Morning!

Today I did a 35 minute I-Tread..my legs felt like lead for some reason, until about the 10 minute mark. It's cold here, no more snow.

Did anyone start shopping for Thanksgiving yet? who is cooking?

Garance:
We did not have Dancing With the Stars on Monday night since the Bills were on Monday Night Football, it was pre-empted for that. I ended up watching that recap show last night at 8:00, which is kind of nice..you get to see all the dances, without all the yaking in between! ..then I was watching/taping the results show and DH came home from Keegan's class at about the 45 minute mark so I turned it off and let the tape run. At this point, I don;t know who was eliminated, but I am guessing Cody? I'll watch the last 15 minutes tonight. Lance was awesome, and Brooke did seem a little off.. I didn't like the dances Derrick did for them for some reason. What happened that all of a sudden they are allowed to lift and throw the other around? That used to be a no-no..but last night they were all over the place...Your Boeuf..dinner sounds yummy!

Linny:
So you have a coach that calls and discussed nutrition etc? How great that must be!..That Sat night ritual sounds so romantic! When we get our bathroom remodeled ( scheduled for February:confused:), I have a tub picked out that has a built in whirlpool. It's still kind of small though, since the space we have is not any bigger than the tub that is there...kind of tight for 2!

Josie:
How are things? Is the air getting any better?

Have a great day ladies!

Deb

Hi Ladies,

I did PUB this morning, and let me tell you! It is hard to come back to this one, my arms are still burning. I ran 2 miles on the threadmill and walke 1.5. I wanted to get my running legs again. I will be spinning tonight and maybe walking 2 miles before to warm up.

Deb, the air quality is better and that is why I was able to work out this morning.
I have not done any of the shopping for Thanksgiving, but I will this Friday. I'm in charge of the side dishes and the desserts. Thank God for having a big family.

Hi Linny and Garance.

Have a gread day Ladies.

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did the vertical premix on Kelly C-M's Cardio Kick Step-boxing (40 min.).

We are not having turkey this year. DH is going to do two standing rib roasts and the gravy, and I will do the rest: pies, mashed potatoes, mushrooms in sherry cream sauce, green bean casserole, and carrots in brown sugar and applejack. I will probably just buy some rolls. Champagne and red wine. Gosh, I'm getting hungry even as I type this out.

How romantic, Linny! DH's brother and SIL have a jacuzzi, but they were complaining about cleaning it. Is it a bother?

I'm reading a really good novel right now: The Northern Clemency, by Philip Hensher. Not sure yet what the title means. Reminds me of Jonathan Franzen's The Corrections a little bit--sardonic humor, dysfunctional families. Also a new excuse to procrastinate on my paper-grading.

When I arrived home yesterday, a big florist's box from my older son. Eighteen roses! Absolutely gorgeous. Hope they last for Thanksgiving.

Stay warm!! It's freezing here.

Hi Ladies;
BRRRRR!! Its freezing here. The weatherman said we will record breaking lows this coming weekend. My indoor weatherstation says its 26 degrees.
Deb:When DH did our remodeling we basically designed the master bath around the jacuzzi. Its a 2 person corner unit. I have started the Thanksgiving shopping. My DH has to make chocolate pudding pies with a graham cracker every year.He will be doing most of the cooking since I do have to work Thanksgiving eve. I will have that night off though. I hope this weight loss coach helps, she seems very nice and I will be talking with the same coach for at least 7 telephone visits.
Garance:Actually I don't think cleaning is too bad.I just stand in it and wash it down. They suggest every couple of months running jacuzzi with some bleach.Hmmm! I love your Thanksgiving dinner. Can I come?:D
I am actually reading a book series right now. My DD suggested it.The Twight series, actually movie is coming ou this weekend.Book is geared for teenagers but I found it a good read. Its a romantic vampire book and its hard to put down once you start reading.
Josie:Glad to hear your air quality is improving. I know when I was out there 2 years ago the air was pretty smoggy in LA,I can imagine the breathing quality with all that soot.Take care~Linny~

It's Thursday!

Good Morning!

Just a quick note today...no workout, I am headed to Canada for a client meeting.

Garance:
Your Thanksgiving sounds yummy! Yes, it was time for Cody to go...it was a toss up for me between him and the football player who I can never remember his name! He has to go next. Lance and Brooke should be the finalists, and I hope that Lance wins. I think they shined towards the end..How sweet that your DS got you roses! Is this the one that is getting married? He will make a wonderful husband!

Josie:
Yep..those pyramids will get you every time! I love those workouts, only wish she would put a few seconds more between sets! Side dishes and desserts can be pretty daunting for Thanksgiving too!

Linny:
Funny..chocolate pudding pies are one of my family's favorites for Thanksgiving too! I think I picked up one of those books from that series at the library, but when I saw it was about vampires, I did not end up reading it..maybe need to go back and reconsider.

Off to Canada!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's 30 min. for bis, tris, and shoulders with 2 miles from Leslie--total 60 min.

I don't know, Deb, I rather like Warren Sapp. He reminds me of those Disney cartoons of hippos and elephants with tutus and twinkletoes--so light on his feet for a big bear of a man. I guess I just don't have any strong preferences this time around. I had never seen Brooke before this contest and I was never into the boy bands, so Lance eludes me as well in terms of his appeal, but I agree that they are deservedly in the final.

The Twilight series of books sounds really bizarre, Linny. I read a review of the final book in the series and it sounded absolutely gory to be pregnant with a vampire baby. I was really into vampires, though, when I was in my teens and still believe Bram Stoker's Dracula is the very best book. I saw the actor and actress playing the leads in Twilight on the Today show this morning. They were being mobbed by adoring fans outside. The actor is a Brit and he's just sort of dazed by the whole thing. Fans (tween girls) offering him blood and so on.

Very cold here, too--in the teens this morning and not warming up very much.

One more play--Coriolanus--to teach and then I'm done for the semester except for the grading.

It's Finally Friday!

Good Morniig!

Well it's finally Friday! This week seemed long to me. I am on vacation next week, to get ready for Thanksgiving, and do other things around here. I went to Canada yesterday to visit a client...2 hour drive..yuk! At least the weather cooperated and there was no snow. There were 3 of us, so it wasn't too bad. No workout today:(..just too tired. Hopefully being off next week I can get myself back on track and catch up on some sleep.

Garance:
Warran just does not come off to me as a dancer at all..an entertainer maybe. He was good in the team dance, but with all those people together it gets kind of blurry and you can't see their feet! I think either Lance or Brooke deserves it. That Twilight movie is based on those books I guess..not being one that follows movies at all! It's cold here too!

Linny:
Hope all is well with you! Any more shopping being done?

Josie:
How are the workouts going? Did you mention that you would do a food/eating log type thing here? I want to do that, but am ashamed at what I have been eating lately, I don;t even want to write it down...maybe if I force myself to write it, I will stop!

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Lauren's kettlebell workout (45 min.). I am sticking with this weekly plan until STS.

DH and I have decided--no big Christmas party this year. The way the economy is going, we just cannot see that there is much reason to spend all the money. I'm only a little bit sad because it's also a lot of work, even with a caterer, and last year we had all these leftovers because some people never told us they were NOT coming (very annoying!).

I'm starting to count the classes before I go on sabbatical--4 in my Shakespeare course, and one long seminar in my film course. Wow! I cannot wait.

No big plans this weekend--just paper-grading (yuck!).

Hi Ladies,

I did not work yesterday and did not workout at all. Some friends and I went to the outlets and then to the casino to celebrate one of my friends birthday. We had a blast!
We got ready as if we were going to work, then we went to breakfast then we shopped and then the casino. It was fun, I did not get home until 9:00 PM.

I was so tired that I could not get up this morning for my workout. I was going to do butts and guts. I will get up early tomorrow and do it and then go spinning. I'm only going to do one of the premixes 49 minutes.

I have to go shopping for all of the ingredients tomorrow and I will be making my list and getting my coupons ready tonight.

I will be very busy on Sunday baking and cleaning.

Have a great weekend!

Josie
