Pentagenarians & Beyond: October 5, 2025

Yesterday I did 30 minutes of upper body strength on my own and about 15 minutes of stretching. Today is a rest day. I’m helping my husband set up his new Apple Watch. He’s not a watch person but he wants to use the cardiovascular monitoring features of the AW so he decided to get one and wear it full time. Before he was only wearing a watch when he was working out or running.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Cardio Fun to the Beat and Jessica Valant Lower Body Weights and Mobility.

Valerie-Great job with your PT exercises.

Carolyn-Great job with XTrain Bis and Tris, rounds 1-5. I hope have a nice visit with your husband’s niece.

Cathy- Nice job with STS 2 Total Body Stretch. Yes, the lower temps are nice especially with the sunshine but I do tend to prefer a little warmer weather.

Today I did LMR Functional Pilates Fusion, 35 minutes, 151 calories burned, average heart rate 117, and maximum heart rate 158.

My husband’s older sister passed away a few months ago. His nephew has been here a couple of times since then because he has children living in the metro area, but my husband has really wanted to see his niece. His niece and nephew are only 10 and 12 years younger so they are more like younger siblings.

Cathy, I’m glad that you have the car maintenance under control. Nice job with STS Total Body Stretch.

Judy, nice job with upper body strength and stretching.

Hello to Valerie.

Today I did Live Timesaver Step Grooves. I had never done that one, and not sure how I missed it. Then I did the bonus legs from STS Meso 1 and Stretch Max with the band.

Valerie I was just reminiscing the other day about the days when you could pull into a gas station and they'd fill the tank, check your oil and a few other things. It's generally faster to get my own gas, but there are times when it would really be nice just to let someone else do it. I quite enjoyed my trip to TX with Derek as the agreement included him paying for gas, so he pumped it, and the same when we went to Winnipeg.

Judy I have an Apple Watch right now and I really like it EXCEPT that it needs charging every day, no matter that I went in and set all the things they recommended to get it to last longer. It'll go a bit longer than a day, but then it tends to get low at inconvenient times. So, I try and remember to put it on the charger an hour or so before bed. At least it doesn't take long to charge.

Carolyn I hope your weekend with guests is fun.

We did a harder hike yesterday with friends, 2.5 hours. my back was not happy at the end but it did get better after doing my exercises. we went out for lunch too so took a while to get home and on the floor.

Cathy it used to be so service oriented, now we must do everything on our own. not that pumping gas is too hard, but checking oil and airing up tires is not as simple any more. Oregon used to ban gas self pumping. that was incredibly inconvenient too. Waiting for a slow moving guy to get to you was a massive pain!. i think that law was changed a few years ago. assuming you find a place with an air hose that works! a travel plaza with diesel trucks is a better chance to find air, and water, if you need it for an RV or a truck. the average gas station is not likely and there is never ever anyone who knows anything.

today all core work, plus some upper body work and my new therapy work, x3.

I did not get in workouts the last 3 days. Today I got in 3 miles at the zoo though. We went with my daughter, her boyfriend and our grandson. It was fun. Halloween costumes all over. Hopefully I am back on track next week:) I do some stretching daily though.
