Pentagenarians & Beyond: October 19, 2025

Today I did CDorner Step and Weights warm up and first group of moves done twice, 13 minutes, 72 calories, heart rate 115/147. I then did Gloved Up and Sweaty skipping the warm up, 30 minutes, 179 calories, heart rate 127/155. I finished with CDorner Chair Stretch Upper body and some bird dogs, and hip bridges, 31 minutes, 84 calories. Total time was 74 minutes, 335 calories. The Step and weights were more than I wanted, first grouping was knee pulls/ squat/thrust/curls, and dip kickouts. 2 rounds and it was then going to lunge off the step. I just did legs so decided that was enough. My 12 year old grandson is coming to stay the night tomorrow. He always wants to make chocolate chip cookies :)
The effect of that med is taking some time to wear off. Today was the first day I had some of my appetite back for my usual healthier stuff. I mostly was eating toast and crackers. This morning I felt better. Still somewhat tired. I hope I do not get anything else like that med. Coffee tasted awful and I forced myself to drink it because I put collagen powder in it. I usually look forward to my morning cup.

Judy, good job on the 40-minute Peloton ride and the 45 minutes of legs, back and triceps using the machines at the gym finishing with the recumbent bike. I am having problems with my left shoulder in the front of it and the bicep. I have been doing extra mobility with it and stretching.

Carolyn, nice work on JS Calorie Burst. Last year I got my flu shot while seeing my rheumatologist. The med I was on said to avoid live vaccines. I am not sure about the flu shot and I normally would get the stronger one. I will ask my doctor when I go back. Sorry you got prescriptions and they end up not required. I am getting a cabinet of meds that I am not using anymore so will have to figure out getting rid of them.

I did a 30 min spin yesterday along with most therapy work. the one move i thought was most effective seems to be causing neck issues. big ones. i stopped doing it for 3 days and the discomfort has gone away but it was very unpleasant. i had increased the frequency to twice a day but i started getting a muscle spasm in the back upper shoulder into the neck area. it would not go away! i see PT soon and want something else instead.
yesterday we had heavy rain all day and this weekend should be similar. definitely not outside weather. we planted a load of plants yesterday morning before the rain moved in seriously. today it will be windier, so power out chances are high. we thought it would go out yesterday and rolled out the generator so it was handy, but then nothing happened. while i was spinning i looked at the barre workout and will try that one today. if its too hard on my knees i will minimize some moves.

diane sue i have multiple meds ive tried and failed. I am getting to know what side effects are likely to pop up for me. some things work if i use them occasionally but not every day.
i have dry eyes and if that's a side effect, its bound to happen to me. I am already using rx drops for it but meds that dtry eyes and mouth are a deal breaker for me except for occasionally.

did part of the barre workout. i thought i might like it but i didn't. i don't like fussy little moves where your arms and legs are doing odd things at the same time. too scattered for me. my knees are ok for a lot of things but not focused bending again and again. i did about half of it and bagged the idea, fired up the elliptical and did that for 20 minutes instead. that seems ok just as the spin bike is ok. i did the "pain in the neck" exercise today but only for one set. i had trouble when I upped it to two sets. weird because my neck didnt feel like it was involved, but it sure complained later.

This morning I did STS 2.0 Mobility 1. That was 19 minutes and 61 calories burned. This has been more of a recovery workout week for me.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Step and Weights, Gloved Up and Sweaty, and CDorner stretching.

Valerie, great job with 30 minute spin and therapy work. It’s good that you stopped the exercise that was causing you pain.

Hello to Judy and Cathy.
