Pentagenarians & Beyond: June 7, 2026

it will be hot ( for us heat wimps) this weekend. i planned today as an off day except for stretches. doing a variety of shopping stops this morning. tomorrow we will do a bike ride early.

cathy i can sympathize with your son. i try but i hate the feel of sunscreen. i feel oily and coated and uncomfortable. tried lots of brands. i usually wear hat, visor, sleeves or pants and dont lie out in the sun baking. . ive had 2 very small skin cancers on my legs several years ago and i would like to avoid more. i use make up with sunscreen so my face is ok. light nylon pants, shirts work for me. i tried one of the heavily advertised synthetic tops with hoods but did not find them very cool. they were on sale so maybe my thoughts were shared. i got them for the utah trip where there is no shade. i wore them but the regular nylon shirt/ pants work best for me. i have some capri length that are cool.

i tan ok, not totally pasty white, but always envy people with a little bit of pigment. I know tanning damages skin etc etc but like most people still like how it looks. i don't do it anymore. self tanners always turn a strange yellowish greenish color on me, not the color of a natural tan for anyone. . luckily I'm not a fan of water sports and never have been. i must have done something right because my skin still looks reasonably good for an old person.
