Pentagenarians & Beyond: June 29, 2025

Im not a total crank. Like you carolyn, i have no issues with professional displays. people know what they're doing and its timed to start and finish. if there are misfires they know what to do. the home displays are not the same at all. Have a happy and safe holiday.

i did stacked upper body and therapy yesterday as planned.

This morning I did live Kickbox Cardio Crush. One of those that if I had gone back through the LIVE forum and read the description, I'd have probably skipped. LOL First section was kickboxing, there was compound moves with 10 pound weights alternating with floor cardio and then a last kickboxing segment. I was going to do a second workout, but Derek sent me down a rabbit hole, when a co-worker noticed that the sticker on his license plate expired in January. When he got back home and looked through his stuff, he also has no current registration or proof of insurance. Now we are good on the insurance, not sure why he doesn't have his and I already have the new ones to send out as it started the 31st. But, back to the license tab and registration. DH was all upset, trying to tell me that I just didn't mail it. Right. But, he starts searching through his stuff for the extra copy, and then checking his bank account to see when he paid it. Oh wait...he never paid it. Both the boys cars are due on the same date and the forms were together and he didn't realize there were two of them, so Nick's got paid. So, he has now paid it and the late fee and we'll be getting one hopefully in the next couple weeks and I will then mail it to him. In the meantime, I'd already been iffy about him taking the car to Canada, and given that he's driving a car with MI plates (in DH's name) and has a ND license, I'm not real comfortable with him taking it to Canada. So, since I was going out there in September anyway, I'm going to get a passport, and we will take my car. Fun times. At least I can do it at the PO less than 10 minutes from my house. But, I hadn't really been planning on going to Canada this year.

Valerie our rain here isn't terribly predictable year to year, at least I don't think so. We may have a ton of rain in the spring and then weeks of nothing, or little spring rain, and more in summer. But, this year it seems like we are getting a lot of storms that don't fit typical patterns. Generally I feel like we get a large block of rain/storms, that cover a good portion of the state and it just moves on across. This year we're getting a lot of smaller storms, that will just dump a ton of rain on an area flooding it while not far away there's little or nothing.

I'll be bringing my fan closer to me tonight and hoping to block out any noise, but I think our one neighbors have taken off for the holiday, and the others are getting ready, too and there's no sign they are having people over tonight. Fingers crossed no one really near us uses them.

it was absolutely horrendous last night. we had dinner with neighbors and a long visit with them and their new puppy. got home about 9 when the noise started in earnest. its been going on and off all day and started weeks ago. by the time the 4th arrives we are sick to death of all the random kabooms shaking the house.. even our cat was scared and flinching every time another went off. it sounded like soundtrack from a war movie. we shut down windows, turned on AC, used ear plugs, took sleeping meds, and put pillows over our heads. there is some kind of new device that is way louder than anything else. we will do our best notto be here on this awful holiday ever again. I hope everyone else fared better than we did.

This morning I did Killer Legs timesaver with moderate weights. That was 26 minutes, 84 calories burned, average heart r109, and maximum heart rate 133. We had a nice low key day and no problems with people shooting off fireworks at home.

Cathy, nice job driving Live Kickboxing Cardio Crush. That’s quite a mix up with Derek’s registration. It’s going that you figured out what happened.

Valerie, I’m sorry that you had such a terrible night because of the fireworks.

Hello to Diane Sue and Judy.

This morning I did Lower Body with a mix of loop, disc and barre. The new Total Body Metabolic Strength workout from the preorders is OnDemand now and I've looked at it. She's not kidding about heavy! Using 25-30's for some things. I'm going to use a barbell for some of it, as I have a hard time holding the heavier weights and for some moves I can just go heavier with a barbell instead of holding 2 weights. We got off light last night. Someone not much south of us was setting off fireworks, but they stopped by 11:00. We'll see what today brings. Haven't been hearing anything recently so I'm hoping that will be minimal if anything. Valerie what you have to deal with is simply horrible.

Did functional upper body today. planned to ride but we were both tired. had guests coming this afternoon too.

there are many many people screaming about the fireworks last night. not the professional displays, those are fine. there was a referendum a few years ago about li,iting fireworks but even though the vote favor of restricting them, it has not happened except inside city limits, and its not well enforced there. it would be impossible for law enforcement to control it. there is a new device/bomb that is extremely loud and was being detonated all over. most cities here do not allow fireworks but in the county its a free for all. its probably divided about 60:40 of people who want it illegal vs those who want to enjoy their "freedom" at everyone elses expense. yesterday afternoon evening and night were absolutely horrible. and the noise has already been going off at random times for weeks, and will continue for several more. Next Door is filled with people looking for lost dogs and cats and agitated livestock.
