Pentagenarians & Beyond: July 13, 2025

This morning was Live 80's Style Cardio with Low Impact Blasts. I knew this would have some impact, but I actually adapted more for carpet than impact. Those 80's moves were meant for gym floors. Very fast paced. Then I did Live Yoga and Mobility Stretch. Very thorough. No rain in the forecast till Wednesday. Just going to be hot, that means real feels in the 90's. It's already real feel 90 today and it's not quite 10 a.m. We're getting air quality alerts from the Canadian fires, but it's really not noticeable here.

This morning I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga for 18 minutes. My daughter is leaving today. It’s been wonderful having her here for last 2 weeks.

Valerie, nice job with the trail ride.

Diane Sue, nice job with Pyramid Pump warm up, back and biceps, and stretch.

Cathy, great job with Live 80’s Style Cardio with Low Impact Blasts and Live Yoga and Mobility Stretch. I agree with you about the older moves being meant for gym floors.

Hello to Judy and Shannon. Have a great day everyone.

whops i think i posted on last weeks thread.
we walked the park walk for 3 miles. it goes around the edges of the campground in one section even if most of it is in the woods and along bluffs over the water. there was someone playing loud music at 8 am this morning. wow, talk about being a jerk. a boombox. actually any time of day is not appropriate to blast music. thats what i thought most want to get away from. we would have reported it to a ranger but we didnt see anyone, and not sure where the campground host is camped. our route does not go thru the camping area. I wish we had rain in the forecast. summers here are dangerously dry.

traveling tomorrow.

This morning I did JS HiiT Walk, 30 minutes, 208 calories burned, average heart rate 130, and maximum heart rate 160.

Valerie, have a safe trip.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Today I did Stacked Sets Upper Body. My time was 44 minutes with 44 calories burned, average heart rate 105, and maximum heart rate 134.

Hello to everyone and have a wonderful day.

Today I did a 30-minute Peloton row and 30 minutes of strength work. I’m doing a Peloton Row challenge for July so I’ll be doing a bit more rowing than usual for the next couple of weeks. Also, I’m going on seasonal leave at Home Depot. I’ll have the fall and winter off and will be able to go back next spring if I want to and if they need the help.

Cathy-Great job with Live 80's Style Cardio with Low Impact Blasts and Live Yoga and Mobility Stretch. We have the air quality alerts too. I agree, it’s not really noticeable here.

Carolyn-Great job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga, JS HiiT Walk and Stacked Sets Upper Body. I’m sure you will miss having your daughter there. Hopefully she can visit you again soon.

Valerie-Great job with your park walk. I hope you had a good trip yesterday.

Hi to Diane Sue and Shannon

Yesterday was a lost cause as far as workouts were concerned, but I hadn't taken a complete day off in about 2 weeks so that's ok. Didn't sleep well, got up and had to deal with cat drama, late for getting breakfast and finally just tossed the idea of any workout. Went to the zoo today and walked. Then went to my parents. Got my Dad a Fazoli's gift card for his upcoming birthday. That is their go to place for eating. They each get a kid's meal and don't always eat it all. I watch these people eat and I would starve to death. I realize they are burning extremely few calories, but still. And heaven forbid they drink water.

Valerie I hope you had a good trip.

Carolyn I'm sure you greatly enjoy having your daughter visit.

Judy it'll be nice for you to have a break from working.

Hi Diane Sue and Shannon.

the drive yesterday was hot and long. it was in the 80's already in the morning and got to 99 in later afternoon. AC helps but its still unpleasant. much prefer clouds and even rain. 11 hours. all went ok otherwise but i could not sleep last night so dragging around here like dead meat all day. no exercise yesterday.
this afternoon i did half of stacked upper body. and some limited amount of therapy. my back has some a new sore spot that im bothered by and not sure what was the cause. i did a limited amount of therapy and icing it to see if it settles down. we had a new trail cam set up because the old one failed but something is not right with this one either. we had some pronghorns walking right by the camera and got some pics but the disc does not want to play them back properly. not sure if its the disk or the disk reader? we will take the disk back with us and look on another computer and see if it works

if you need a really nice unfussy ice pack, get an Elastogel. i got thru Amazon. depending on size, about $30. we've used it a thousand times. soft and squishy and comfortable with an attached velcro strap. we've had one for years but recently got another. easier to use than ice. not stiff. things don't get wet. you can use them for heat also. i have it on my low back right now and it stays in place with the velcro. a great product.

Today I did CDorner Rockn' Cardio (tabata blast) 32 minutes, 223 calories, heart rate 139/162 followed with CDorner Full Body Stretch, first 17 minutes, 41 calories. Total time 49 minutes, 264 calories. I always follow the lower impact moves. Chris usually always shows options. Her guest did a lot of the suggestions for low impact.

Carolyn, nice work on Stacked Sets Upper Body today. It is always so quiet when family leaves. I know you had an enjoyable time while your daughter was there. My granddaughter that lives in Tulsa had someone give her sour dough starter and she brought down sour dough bread on the fourth of July. She said she would bring me some. It was yummy.

Judy, good job on the Peloton Row and Strength work. I am sure you will enjoy your time off for work. It is nice you have the option to go back if you want to in spring.

Cathy, good job getting a walk in at the zoo. There are always those days where getting a workout is just futile. With little activity I am sure your parents do not need that many calories. Just a half a kids meal does not seem like much though. They need the water.

Valerie, I always find long drives tiring. Nice work on getting in half of stacked sets and some therapy work. I hope the sore spot lets up. I always get concerned when something does not seem right. That would be nice if the close up of the pronghorn comes out better. I came across the picture I mentioned a long time ago of the buffalo named Hobie that was a pet when I was going through stuff setting up my new laptop. They owner had him since he was little and there is a donkey there. He would come up to the fence and people would pet him and get pictures. The family had a big house up on the hill. I have some freezie wraps for my knees with gel packs that slide in. I take them out and use them on other areas for icing. They came with a second set so always in the freezer.BG_Buff02.jpg

Today I did an IMAX 4 premix of the combos and bonus abs 2, and then LIVE TB Metabolic Challenge. DH had to go to Flint for a meeting this afternoon, so I cleaned the fridge and freezer. Fun stuff.

Valerie that sounds like a really hot drive. I think the worst things about that situation is when you stop for a break and get out the heat just whams you so hard.

Diane Sue that's a very good looking Bison.

cathy older people often lose the thirst sensation and get very dehydrated. everything works better if you're well hydrated. from what you've said before, its probably not worth trying to talk them into drinking more water. but they both should. so hard to get people to do what they should do. that doesnt sound like much food but same story... no appetite means they dont eat a lot.
it was a very hot drive very sunny drive. i have two widow shades for the side widows that help with the glare. we only stop for gas twice but Im very well hydrated so we both need rest areas. i drink about 40 ounces of water in the morning plus mucho coffee so it takes a while to process but i know every rest stop from here to bozeman. all of them are right out in the open where its as hot as it could be. AC in cars doesnt work as well as the old ones that used freon. of course, the ozone layer is vital so im not really complaining.

the Yellowstone bison are not like Hobie. we give them a wide margin. they are ornery and still every year several people decide they're friendly or they want a selfie with a bison background. and then we read about it in the news!.

Today I did LITE Strong Body Stacked Sets Lower Body + extended stretch #1, 60 minutes, 198 calories. I used dumbbells instead of barbell for wide stance deadlift and squats. For the deadlifts I just do a hip hinge and do not go to a point where my back rounds. I stop about my knee level.

Cathy, nice work on IMax 4 premix combos and bonus abs 2 and Live TB Metabolic Challenge.

Valerie, I drink lots of water, but when I know we are going to be on the road for a long time or I have doctor appointment where I had a long drive and restroom is hard to get into, I avoid drinking any water till I get home or reach a destination. Personally, I would be careful with any animal that big with horns. The people that took pictures and petted Hobie were on the outside of the fence.

I forgot to check in yesterday! I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout one, 26 minutes, 172 calories burned, average heart rate 127, and maximum heart rate 154. Today I did Stacked Sets Lower Body, timesaver #4. My time was 34 minutes, 124 calories burned, average heart rate 111, and maximum heart rate 140.

Judy, great job with the Peloton 30 minute row and 30 minutes of Full Body Strength. Doing a rowing challenge sounds like a good motivator. A seasonal leave from HD will give you a nice rest.

Cathy, great job with IMAX 4 and Live TB Metabolic Challenge. I’m not surprised that your parents don’t drink enough water. I’m constantly trying to get my husband to drink more water because he is easily dehydrated. He has a 32 ounce water bottle and I keep track of the amount that he drinks. Sometimes I add orange slices to the water bottle—he doesn’t like lemon slices. Of course he love’s lemonade with lots of sugar, but we don’t have that.

Valerie, nice job with Stacked Sets Upper Body and therapy exercises.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Rockin‘ Cardio, CDorner Full Body Strength, Strong Body Stacked Sets Lower Body, and extended stretch #1.

Have a good day everyone.

Yesterday I did a 30-minute row and went to the gym with my husband. I worked out there for 45 minutes. I overdid it a little with the upper body machines and I was pretty sore this morning. decided to make this a rest day. I will do some yoga and stretching tonight.

Cathy-Great job with the zoo walk, IMAX 4 premix, bonus abs 2 and LIVE TB Metabolic Challenge.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Rockn' Cardio (tabata blast), Full Body Stretch, and LITE Strong Body Stacked Sets Lower Body + extended stretch #1.

Valerie-Great job with stacked upper body and the therapy work.

Carolyn-Great job with Cardio Quick Fix, workout one and Stacked Sets Lower Body, timesaver #4.

Shopped today so no workout.

Valerie even the bison Derek works with are fully to be trusted. They go in with them, but the Bison are trained to go to the opposite end when they go in to do fresh food and water. Awhile back one of the calves got caught in the feeder and lucky him and another keeper got to go in and untangle it with Mom Bison standing their watching them. Move slowly and hold your breath basically. Fortunately, she was good about it.

Nick got his MCAT scores and they were sent to 56 schools, so hopefully he gets a decent number of responses for the next level.

Valerie my parents tastebuds work just fine for some things! Donuts, cookies, ice cream and candy. I gave up on the water thing quite awhile back.

My sister makes for of me for how often I stop when traveling, but I still drink my normal amount of water. Me and dehydration is not a pretty combo. I learned that long ago.
