Pentagenarians & Beyond: December 28, 2025

This morning I did Live Cardio Core Fusion. Fun workout that really kept my heart rate up. 6 rounds of cardio, a walking plank and standing core with a 10 lb weight. Then I did STS2 Body Parts Legs and Shoulders No Repeats. We're supposed to get a LOT of rain followed by 2-4" of snow, or 1-2" depending on where you look, and I'm supposed to go pick up my new reading glasses tomorrow morning. Hoping for the lighter side. Just have to drive the 10 minutes into town, but if the snow has been blowing the drifts could be nasty.

I haven’t been able to work out for most of this week, but I’ve been physically active. My family was here, but they are slowly starting to leave. We‘ve been working on things for my husband’s situation and taking care of him. Times are very different.

I don’t have time for personals, but I’m keeping up with your workouts. I hope that everyone is having a good day.

Friday I did 45 minutes of Peloton strength work and my PT work. Yesterday I did a short walk and my PT work. Today I did a 60-minute Peloton ride and my PT work. I’m doing the PT work twice a day and it’s been taking 20-25 minutes each time.

Carolyn-I’m keeping you and your husband in my thoughts as you go through this stressful time.

Cathy-Great job with Live Cardio Core Fusion and STS2 Body Parts Legs and Shoulders No Repeats. We had a lot of rain all day today. This is going to be a crazy weather week for Michigan.

Valerie-Fortunately we didn’t get an ice storm after all. Great job with your therapy work and long hike.

Diane Sue-Great job with the Senior Shape workouts. I’m sorry about the side effects of your medicines. I hope you find something that works without side effects.

No workout today. Yesterday I did CDorner Fast Basic Step #510, 31 minutes, heart rate 117/143, 176 calories. I finished with Senior Shape Standing Strength, Stretch, and Mobility, 23 minutes, 77 calories. Total time 54 minutes, 253 calories.

cathy any combination of rain on top of snow is ugly, if it happens, hopefully not a lot of volume.

i did a 10 min spin to warm up and stacked upper body and 2 therapy sessions. tomorrow we're taking the skis and going to see if we can get to skiable snow. after all the wind, rain and flooding we will be lucky getting up this road at all. these are forest service roads. most get no maintenance other than what the people who use them can do with basic tools. we can clear trees if they aren't too big but if there are big trees or washed out sections nothing will get done until maybe spring. so it's with a lot of optimism that we are even taking the skis along. we were up this road in November and it was clear with no snow but that was before all the storms.

Today I did Live Ready, Set, Step. Cancelled my appointment to pick up my new glasses. They are just reading glasses and the store ones I have work fine, and will just become my new back ups. Hoping the weather isn't nasty for the new appointment. Right now it's snowing and blowing and the roads are covered. We've had about a 50 degree drop in real feel temps from yesterday morning.

Valerie it was actually rain than snow this time. We had a lot of puddles yesterday as we got over an inch of rain. It did all end up getting absorbed within a few hours, as the ground hasn't frozen yet, but some places had flooding. We aren't near any thing larger than a small creek about 1/4 of a mile away.

Judy glad you didn't get any ice from the previous storm.

Hi Carolyn and Diane Sue.

Today I did JS One Mile of Motivation and Step Boss Chair Stretch. It felt good to work out a little.

Judy, great job with Peloton Strength, PT work, and Peloton ride.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Fast Basic Step, and Senior Shape Strength, Stretch, and Mobility.

Valerie, great job with the spin, Stacked Sets Upper Body, and therapy work.

Cathy, great job with Ready, Set, Step. It’s good that you canceled your appointment.

we tried the ski idea today but it didn't work well. the road had been driven on big time so there were tire ruts with only the middle of the road not torn up. and that was uneven too we went for half an hour but temps were going up and the snow getting sticky so we bagged the idea. another day, came home and did therapy and then did grocery shopping.
cathy they make it sound like you are all going to die there in Michigan.

Today I did a mix of Senior Shape workouts, all osteoarthritis friendly with no back rounding or twisting. I started with Cardio weight workout with dumbbells (2#) 21 minutes, 126 calories, heart rate 126/157. I then did a standing arm workout which had a lot of shoulders in it, 18 minutes, 62 calories, 5 and 8# dumbbells, 1 mile walking workout, 20 minutes, 143 calories, heart rate 140/162, and ending with Pilates for Posture, 28 minutes, 55 calories. Total time was 87 minutes, 386 calories.

Carolyn, nice work on getting in JS one mile motivation and Step Boss chair stretch. I am really sorry that you are going through rough times. Sending prayers for you and your husband.

Judy, good job on Friday's 45 minutes of Peloton strength work and PT work, Saturday's short walk and PT work, and yesterday's 60-minute Peloton ride and PT work.

Valerie, nice work on yesterday's spin bike warm up and Stacked Sets Upper Body along with PT exercises. I am sorry the ski plans did not work today.

Cathy, good job on Cathy Ready Set Step. Our temps have dropped a lot and is supposed to be 28 tonight. It has been like spring for a while. I don't like going out to play with my dog in cold weather and he really begs. It is a lot of work to bundle up for it. He tries to pull the gloves off my hands. He doesn't get what they are for. I try to follow weather before appointments, so I do not have to cancel at the last minute.

Today I did part of LMR Pilates Fusion for 28 minutes and 43 calories burned. Average heart rate was 94 and maximum heart rate was 126. I had to shorten the workout because I needed to go to the grocery store.

Valerie, I’m sorry that skiing didn’t work out.

Diane Sue, great job with the Senior Shape workouts. Thank you for your prayers. I really appreciate that.

Hello to Judy and Cathy. I hope both of you are okay with the crazy weather.

Today I did CDorner Cardio Sweat to the Beat skipping the bonus stretch, 30 minutes, 205 calories, heart rate 136/169. I then did Lift Move & Restore Functional Lower Body skipping step and floor, 44 minutes, 192 calories, heart rate 104/143. 397 calories, 74 minutes.

Carolyn, nice work getting in LMR Pilates Fusion today.

I did a costco run this morning with a few stops along the way back. all done for the week. we did some yard work this afternoon and then i walked the yard up and down for another 35 minutes. its dry right now but cold with fog leading to some black ice. we plan on walking tomorrow morning again. its too cold and icy in spots to ride now.

Monday was an active rest day. Yesterday I did a 5-k indoor walk and my PT work. Today I did a 20-minute Peloton Arms & Shoulders workout, 5 min Standing Core and my PT work. We have family coming into town today so we will be spending some time with them this week.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Fast Basic Step, the Senior Shape workouts, CDorner Cardio Sweat to the Beat and LMR Functional Lower Body.

Valerie-Great job with Stacked Upper Body, your therapy work and walking. The weather was really bad in the Upper Peninsula but not as bad here in SE Michigan. We did get some very high winds on Monday but fortunately no power outages. We were lucky as there were a few outages just one street over from us.

Cathy-Great job with Live Ready, Set, Step. That was a good idea to cancel your appointment. I hope your area didn’t get hit too bad Monday night.

Carolyn-Great job with JS One Mile of Motivation, Step Boss Chair Stretch and LMR Pilates Fusion .

No workout today. I went to Costco to get paper goods and coffee beans. After that I needed to take care of some things by phone.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner cardio and LMR Functional Lower Body.

Valerie, we both had a Costco run today. My store was busier than expected.

Judy, great job with walking, Peloton Arms & Shoulders, Standing Core, and PT work.

Hello to Cathy.

We did our walk this morning. it was lovely out. there were areas of low fog with perfectly still water except for one guy in a motorboat leaving a trail of photogenic ripples. sunshine but cold. the lighting was gorgeous. took longer than usual because there were lots of birds .ducks and a eagle that posed on a madrona branch in the sunlight making a lovely pic. ` 90 minutes. did 2 therapy sessions today.

I finished shopping yesterday. Carolyn we've had an executive membership for a long time. we use costco for so many things its worth the membership cost difference. pharmacy, groceries, car service and gasoline. a lot of DH's clothes. they dont ever have petite so i dont do well myself. its the closest store to us. executive gets a bigger per cent back in rebates. we get to shop an hour earlier than the non exec members. its worth getting there at 9 to do it. fast, not crowded, easy check out. i dont know if it's in effect at every Costco or not. its a recent perk added that i take advantage of. I expected busy today so went yesterday.

Cathy hope you weathered the storm ok and kept power on. i have a good friend in MSP so I know everyone did not die! Judy congrats on getting thru the storm without losing power.

Today I did CDorner Fast Basic Step minimal breakdown, 37 minutes, 260 calories burned, heart rate 138/169, 3,550 steps. I followed this with Senior Shape Pilates with a stability ball. 31 minutes 72 calories. Total time was 68 minutes and 332 calories.

Judy, nice work on yesterday's 5-k indoor walk and PT work and today's 20-minute Peloton arms & shoulders workout, 5 minutes standing core an PT work. Enjoy your family time.

Carolyn, I hope you got all you needed to do done today.

Valerie, your 90 minute walk sounds pleasant and two physical therapy sessions.

This morning I did P 30 Perfect Pump Upper Body, 36 minutes, 90 calories burned, average heart rate 103, and maximum heart rate 125.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner Fast Badic Step and Senior Shape Pilates.

Valerie, I’m glad that you had a nice walk yesterday.

Hello to Judy and Cathy.

neither of us felt the urge to walk again today. we had a rough night. the neighbors made a ridiculous amount of noise. these are bombs going off, not "firecrackers". they are so loud they might be half a mile away, impossible to tell and cant do anything about it anyway. we get to bed early to be asleep long before midnight. a big explosion at 3 am woke me up but i went back to sleep. the worst time was actually yesterday later afternoon. it is so disappointing to have otherwise reasonable people act like thoughtless idiots. oh well.....

I'm going to do stacked upper body. and two sets of therapy work, one already done.

Carolyn that's a workout i have too. I'm always tempted to go to heavy on that one

ETA did a 15 min spin as a warm up and then stacked upper body one time thru and then another therapy session.

Didn't mean to disappear! This morning I did LMR Functional Upper Body. Found that if I did the higher of the suggested weights, I got a decent workout.

Of all the places in MI, like Judy we didn't have it that bad from the storm. I get a lot of upper peninsula content on social media and it was really crazy up there. Marquette area got a lot of power outages and a lot of snow. One of the smaller towns about 15 minutes away, higher elevation (not your kind of elevation Valerie!) had 28". Pics of people opening their doors and the doorway is over halfway full of snow. I think the highest snowfall I saw was 30". Northern Lower got it, too, with lots of wind, snow and bad roads. And of course, last weekend and this weekend kids are heading back to college up there.

Valerie are they using tannerite? People really shouldn't be able to buy it. I saw multiple pages of people complaining about it being used. That's too bad that you weren't able to ski.

Judy glad you weren't much impacted by the storm either.
