Pentagenarians & Beyond: August 30, 2026

not a great day. mamm went ok i think. no results yet. i woke up with a UTI for sure. i suspected maybe a problem yesterday but this morning it was clear that i had a UTI. i already have a backache but this makes that worse too. i didn't have time to go in for the UTI before the mamm so had to stop at WIC on the way back. it wasn't as busy as expected so i got seen and a rx but still had to go home to wait for it to get filled and then go back and pick it up. traffic was unpleasant to say the least. so not a smooth day .
we got a little rain but nothing up to what we need. We are getting really nervous about the expected el nino that is a very big deal here especially, since last year was already warm and dry. it affects reservoirs and snowpack and river flow makes fire danger the next year much worse.

Congrats to your son Cathy and to you for negotiating all the little twists and turns on the way.

interestingly in the last few weeks, two men who started wildfires have been caught. the first one sounds like a mentally ill guy. probably wont be held fully responsible. it sounds like he may have started more than one fire. the other one is an 18 yr old. 2 trucks with 5 friends shooting fireworks back and forth between the vehicles while driving down a highway in eastern WA. what could possibly go wrong.......?? others will be charged. a huge percentage of fires are human caused but sometimes they are accidental. this t is so incredibly careless and reckless plus they were illegal fireworks. what an idiot.

we rode the trail today. 15 miles an hr 20 minutes. but there was some kind of fun run going on. way too many people running or walking and not paying attention. we should have gone earlier but leaves are starting to call and its hard to see in the shadows.

Today I did STS2 Mobility 1 and Live Core with Yoga Blocks Express. We went to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods and I got him gift cards for his upcoming birthday. Tomorrow morning we are going to the zoo, and then I leave early Monday morning.

Valerie really sorry to hear about your UTI. Hope the prescription works fast. They are incredibly unpleasant.

We had some bad storms come through on Wednesday night-Thursday morning. We lost power early Thursday morning and just got it back a little while ago. I ended up taking active rest days from Wednesday through today.

Carolyn-Great job with JS 15 Minute Fat Blaster, LMR Low Impact Cardio Bonus and P 30 Perfect Pump Upper. I’m glad that your annual appointment went well.

Valerie-Great job with your bike rides. I’m sorry about your UTI.

Cathy-Great job with STS2 Mobility 1 and Live Core with Yoga Blocks Express. Congratulations to your son. We didn’t have any damage from the storms, just the power outage. The worst damage was north of us.

I should have said mamm was ok. UTI is way settled down in just a few hours. so unpleasant and so fixable with antibiotics. last had one 10 years ago. I got these when i was a little kid but mostly outgrew the problem.

i was just thinking about the people whose houses and property was burned up and lives lost just because some punks thought shooting off fireworks from moving vehicles sounded like a good idea at a time when it was red flag weather, hot dry and windy. someone saw what was happening and used a fire extinguisher but was not able to stop the fire. the first crazy guy started one of the big fires near spokane that destroyed many many dozens of homes. lightning caused is bad enough but this is so avoidable.

sorry about the power out Judy. C athy have a good uneventful trip back. monday will be a bad drive day.

Just did STS2 Mat Yoga. Did the zoo this morning with Nick. Doing a zoo with Nick is so different than Derek. Far faster for one thing. In a bit we’re going to DMU so he can show me around. The ceremony was at an events center, so I haven’t seen the school yet.

Judy I’m glad you didn’t have storm damage. Power outage is more than enough to deal with.

Valerie it’s crazy to me the things people do. I’m not a fan of fireworks anyone, but using them when the fire danger is that high is insane. I’m hoping I won’t be too impacted by the holiday traffic. With luck everyone will be headed east across ND, and I’ll be going west. My sister says people in MN go to ND why? Why when you live in a state with so much recreational land would you go to ND.Glad your UTI is better.
