Pentagenarians & Beyond: August 3, 2025

This morning I did Perfect Pump Upper Body and clearly my spree of Metabolic workouts have not aided me in lifting heavier. There are only a few things that I use the weight she does on that workout, and today even my usual weight was a struggle at times. So, I'm reassessing what I'm doing.

DH is leaving early tomorrow morning, for an overnight meeting and won't be back until Tuesday afternoon. So, I'll be pulling out some tubs and seeing what more I can get rid of.

Today I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga for 18 minutes. Yesterday was a rest day and I went to the Farmer’s Market.

Valerie, nice job with riding the bike in your neighborhood and Stacked Sets Upper Body.

Cathy, good job with walking at the zoo, Live Boxing HiiT 2, Live Weight Plates and Abs, Restorative yoga, and Perfect Pump Upper Body. I think of metabolic workouts as more endurance building.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

Yesterday I did LMR 2 Heavy Weights Lower Body, 51 minutes, 173 calories, heart rate 101/147. I liked it. I followed it with CDorner Stretch and Reset gentle flow and stretch (no planks or down dog wrist friendly) 32 minutes, 72 calories. Total time 83 minutes, 245 calories.
I did not get anything in Friday and Saturday. My daughter was taken to the hospital in a lot of pain. After tests it ended up being a colitis infection. They kept her overnight with antibiotic iv. We took her home yesterday. I made some bone broth and took that and jello to her house.

Valerie, nice work on the ride yesterday. That is good that your husband is so dedicated to healing well. My brother was supposed to get a redo on his knee replacement this week, but they postponed it till he gets his dental work done first. They are sending him to a different surgeon as the other one did not do well, and he got mrsa infection. His knee is still swollen and it has been months.

Cathy, good job on Perfect Pump Upper Body. It is hard to lift heavy enough with metabolic workouts to gain a lot of muscle. Have fun with the tubs. My husband goes through his own clear things out of his closet.

Carolyn, good job on doing Jane Adams Gentle Yoga today.

Today I did KCM’s Cardio Fit, cardio kickboxing, 21 minutes, 150 calories burned, average heart rate 133 and maximum heart rate 167. My husband had a cardiology appointment today. That took half of the day and we just got home an hour ago.

Diane Sue, great job with LMR Heavy Weights Lower Body and CDorner Stretch and Reset.

Hello to Valerie, Judy, and Cathy.

Saturday I did a 30-minute Peloton Ride and yesterday I did a 45-minute walk/run outside. Today I did 20 minutes of light weights and 30 minutes of stretching. The contractors were supposed to be here this morning but there was a mix up with some parts not coming in so they won’t be back until Thursday and Friday. I had signed up for a drawing at Plum Market over the weekend and they called me yesterday to say I had won. We went back today to pick up the prize, which was 2 large bags of Field Day products. There were jars of almond butter and fruit spread, 2 boxes of cereal and microwave oatmeal packets. Also, several cans of beans, 2 bags of granola, 2 bags of pretzels, macaroni & cheese, ketchup, garlic powder and baking soda. I never win anything so I was shocked when they called.

Cathy-Great job with Live Boxing Hiit 2, part of Live Weight Plate Abs, Restorative Yoga and Perfect Pump Upper Body. I probably need to reassess what I’m doing too. My comfort zone is cardio and metabolic workouts but I need to get back to heavier weight workouts again.

Carolyn-Great job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga and Cardio Fit, cardio kickboxing. I hope your husband’s appointment went well.

Diane Sue-Great job with LMR 2 Heavy Weights Lower Body and CDorner Stretch and Reset gentle flow and stretch. I previewed Heavy Weights Lower Body and it looks really good. I plan on doing it this week. I’m sorry about your daughter. I hope she is feeling much better.

Hi to Valerie

I did a load of yard work again today and moved plants so we can get some concrete walkway repaired soon. its really too dry to move plants so i had to soak everything thoroughly by filling the holes with water several times. its incredibly dry here although we might get some rain starting tuesday night. it probably wont be a lot but anything would be helpful. the plants would be killed in the concrete pouring so they have better odds of surviving getting moved. then i mt biked our neighborhood again for 5 miles. did it in 38 minutes this time for a speed record. also a batch of therapy exercises.

diane sue. unfortunate about the mrsa infection. its such a common bacteria but causes such big trouble. Here we get nasal swabs done to check ahead and if positive use antibiotic salve for a week before a surgery . staph can be anywhere. the patient himself, the OR, equipment or the staff. for DH's surgery he had to scrub with hibiclens multiple times before the procedure . that's one of the biggest risks, infection. dental issues can be a source too. DH had to delay several weeks to get his infected implant cleared up. usually you cant get any significant dental work done for 3 months after joint replacement either. hope your brother does ok after going thru all that.

and your daughter too!. hope she is recovering well.

judy you lucky devil!. i never win anything either.

Today I did CDorner 80's Step (first two combo segments) 24 minutes I missed most of the warm up as I forgot to start my watch, 149 calories, heart rate 130/161. I also did LMR Upper Body, 51 minutes, 187 calories, heart rate 103/144. Total time 75 minutes, 336 calories. I need to get to bed soon. My granddaughter is coming over in the morning to make tiramisu. She has to be at her school early so while on this side of town she wanted to come over. She is getting ready for her senior year.

Carolyn, nice work on KCM Cardio Fit Cardio Kickboxing.

Judy, good job on Saturday's 30-minute Peloton Ride and yesterday's 45-minute walk/run outside. Nice work on the 20 minutes of light weights and 30 minutes of stretching today as well. Winning a prize at the grocery was a nice surprise. I never win anything like that. I remember when I was a teenager my parents won a tv at a furniture store. I came home from school, and she was all excited. It was a color tv and we only had a black and white console tv at the time. I liked the LMR 2 Lower Body Heavy Weights. I went lighter on most of it.

Valerie, moving the plants and prepping sounds like a lot of work. We need to repair our walk ways on both sides of our house. It looks nice, but it is stones and the mortar/concrete between the stones is cracking in places. Not happy with the look. Whoever did it did not do a good job. I talked to our neighbor that had his done at the same time and his is cracking too.
I do not know what all they had my brother do. He has been on loads of antibiotics. I hope the new surgeon does a better job. His other knee he had done a couple of years ago and he was fine with that one. He had to wait for the second till he got medicare. That first one cost him a lot out of pocket because they thought everything was covered at the doctor's office. Their mistake. They waived the doctor's charges, but he was left with a big bill for the rest. My daughter is feeling much better. She says she does not want to go through anything like that again.

Today I did STS 2.0 Body Parts Chest + Triceps, No Repeats. My time was 50 minutes with 91 calories burned, average heart rate 97, and maximum heart rate 119. It certainly felt like I was working harder than that! We have had so much rain over the last few days and the temperatures feel like November instead of August. Yesterday it was 64 degrees! Today we should get to 70.

Judy, great job with 30 minute Peloton ride, 45 minute walk/run, light weights and stretching. Congratulations on winning that prize from Plum Market. The last time that I won a prize was late 80’s when I won brunch for four at the Hyatt. That was nice since it wasn’t something that we would have done otherwise.

Valerie, great job with the yard work and moving plants. I wish I could send some of this rain your way.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner 80’s Step and LMR Upper Body. I’m glad that your daughter is doing better after that medical scare.

Waving hello to Cathy.

Today I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix workout one. That was 26 minutes, 173 calories burned, average heart rate 128, and maximum heart rate 157.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

did half of stacked upper body yesterday along with therapy. unfdortunately not feeling well today. somehow i picked up a head cold and consider myself in sick bay for at least another day. feel awful tho i know its not serious. headache, cant breathe, everything aches.

Just popping in while my internet is working. Did the zoo yesterday and today I did Total Body Barbell. Shop tomorrow. Still going round with Verizon about the internet. Major pain.

Valerie I'm sorry you aren't feeling well.

Judy that's great that you won a prize!

Yesterday I did a 45-minute Peloton ride and today I did a 45-minute Peloton indoor walk. The poor air quality has been bothering me a little and I wanted to get some walking miles in. After that I did a 5-minute core workout and 10 minutes of Arms & Light Weights. We are really looking forward to getting the half bath finished this week.

Valerie-I’m sorry you are sick. I hope you feel better soon. Great job with Stacked Upper Body and the therapy work.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner 80’s Step and LMR Upper Body. I’m glad your daughter is feeling better now.

Carolyn-Great job with STS 2.0 Body Parts Chest + Triceps, No Repeats and Cardio Quick Fix workout one. A brunch for 4 was a nice prize to win. I can’t remember winning anything else but my husband won a foam roller at the opening of a new bike shop back in 2010 or 2011. He gave it to me and I still use it.

Cathy-Great job with Total Body Barbell. I hope the Verizon internet issues get resolved. That must be so frustrating.

No workout yesterday. My granddaughter came over and it was nice spending time with her. Next week I won't have many workouts. I have to leave the house 3 mornings.
Today I did a CDorner lower body and ab workout on youtube. I went lighter and skipped some of the ab workout. There was a particular ab move with dumbbells that I did not think would be good for my back at all. Workout was 48 minutes, 160 calories. Not feeling to well and really tired. Today is methotrexate day. It gives me a headache.

Today I did STS 2 Back + Biceps, No Repeats. That was 52 minutes, 112 calories burned, average heart rate 100, and maximum heart rate 126.

Valerie, I’m sorry that you aren’t feeling well. Nice job doing part of Stacked Sets Upper Body.

Cathy, good job with Total Body Barbell. The situation with Verizon must be very annoying.

Judy, great job with Peloton ride, indoor walk, core, and arms and light weights. It’s good that you are staying out of the bad outdoor air.

Diane Sue, I’m glad that you had a nice day with your granddaughter. Nice job with CDorner Lower Body and Abs.

This morning I did JS One Mile of Motivation and STS 2 Chair Yoga. My knee has really been bothering me lately so I didn’t do the lower body workout that I had planned. I’m not sure what the problem is, but I don’t want to do anything to aggravate it.

Hello to everyone and have a great day.

No workout today. Yesterday I did CDorner Low Impact Aerobics with light dumbbells(2#) done outdoors and all standing, 32 minutes, heart rate 119/138, 177 calories, 3023 steps. Followed this with LMR Low Impact Cardio 16 minutes, 111 calories, 137/154 heart rate, 1,197 steps. Total time 48 minutes, 288 calories, 4220 steps. Rest day today as I am sore and some rib and upper back pain. Maybe tomorrow I will get in something.

Carolyn, nice work on yesterday's STS 2 Back and Biceps no repeats and today's One Mile Motivation Jessica Smith. My left knee hurts from the lower workout. I think it was from the cross-back lunges into a knee up. There was a lot of balancing. I tried not to cross back to much. That move was a problem when I had the torn meniscus.

I shopped yesterday and today I did Live Cardio Core Express. Cardio included starting in a low impact version and then switching to high, so you could just keep doing low, and the core segments were all standing. Then I did STS 2 Total Body Stretch. Trying to figure out a new rotation that will accomplish what I want, but I haven't put any real effort into it yet. Verizon has behaved better today, though not totally. Yesterday I stopped at the store to ask some questions, and the guy there said that the tower is full and someone needs to manually add another slot. Translation too many people using the tower.

Diane Sue I don't think I've even looked at the LMR Low Impact Cardio, I should check it out as a possible add on to something.

Carolyn I hope your knee issue resolves itself.

Judy you must be getting it worse than we are from the smoke. So far here, it hasn't been noticeable even though we are in the low air quality area.

Valerie I hope you're feeling better.

Feeling pretty decent today. 2 days of sneezing and blocked drippy nose. now DH hasteh virus but he gets different sxs. this might interfere with his surgical followup but too soon to say. it hit with a vengeance early Wednesday morning. its saturday. i feel reasonable today. not doing anything too physical yet. i dont want to relapse.
i had a screen saver pop up on Edge of a close up of 3 monkeys. I could not look at it. i finally found a way to get rid of it. i love animal pictures but not moneys. i hate hate them. i dont know where that came from but i am unable to watch them. i always root for the cheetah or the freezing blizzard to take them all out. cant stand watching nature programs that focus on them. i dont like clowns either but its not anything near as strong as monkeys. i could barely stand looking at the screen to look for a way to get rid of it. weird because ive never had a bad experience

Today I put together a workout from LMR Low Impact Cardio. Added warm up and stretch and then did all the drill and repeated them. Ended up being 36 min and a good workout. Then I did Bun Burners Barre and Ball.

Valerie that's fascinating how much you dislike monkeys. My husband is an animal lover but a no on chimps because he says they are too much like people and in general he's not a fan of people. LOL Definitely bugs going around. Derek had a cold earlier this week, DH is now sick and when he gets sick it generally hits him pretty hard, though sometimes hard to tell because he is a bit of a drama king. Nick gets here tomorrow so in the morning I'm going to put one of my small air purifiers in the room he'll be using. DH gets this kind of thing cough, stuffy head etc at least 3-4 times a year.
