Pentagenarians & Beyond: April 5, 2026

This morning I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga for 18 minutes. Yesterday I was at the hospital with my daughter. They are getting the infection under control and still working on other issues. Metastatic Breast Cancer is an awful disease that affects so many things.

Cathy, nice job with your Finished Step combos, Restorative Yoga, LMR 2 Elevated Upper Body, and P30 Stretch.

Judy, good job with the Peloton ride, restorative yoga, walking, and Peloton lower body strength.

Valerie, good job with therapy and the trip to Costco.

Diane Sue, great job with LMR2 Elevated Upper Body, back, biceps, and shoulders.

did a road ride this morning on our usual trail. we took a bit longer than usual. we saw several mergansers om the water and then saw a beaver. we were stopped at half way to turn around when i saw either a beaver or an otter floating right under the bridge we were on. no they're not unusual or rare but it still is fun to see one unexpectedly. they are not small!

Carolyn that has to be incredibly difficult for you as well as your daughter. treatments are much more effective than they used to be. that doesnt make them easy. hugs to you both. hoping she continues to improve and can go home soon.

ETA i forgot to comment on the snake but remembered after Cathy mentioned it. when we are in MT there are more snakes. weve seen a few but not many rattlers. I'm respectfully nervous about them. western WA has lots of garter snakes. we have seen rattlers in Eastern WA. I would worry about pets messing with them. i would assume they are trouble until proved otherwise. i think they are fascinating but i mostly dont have to worry about running into one.

Things rather steam rolled today, not getting enough sleep, dawdling over breakfast, so I ended up up doing Stretch Max with the band and then went to my parents.

Valerie seeing beavers and otters in the wild would be really cool. I've seen both up north, but it was a long time ago in the UP.

Diane Sue, snakes in general don't bother me, but I also don't live where they are venomous. We have a small rattlesnake here, but they are shy and endangered and in very specific areas. Unless you are a young child or have compromised immunity they will just make you a bit ill and it would be extremely rare for them to kill anyone.

Carolyn it's good that your daughter is in a place where she's getting good care and I'm sure she appreciates you being close enough to visit her now.

Today I did JS Stride and Step, 30 minutes, 188 calories burned, average heart rate 123, and maximum heart rate 158.

Valerie, good job with your road ride. It’s nice that you saw a merganser and an otter.

Cathy, nice job with Stretch Max with Band after not getting enough sleep. Having a slower morning probably felt good.

This morning I did a Great Glutes Mix of discs, stability ball, floor and bonus chair. It's a sunny and decent temp day but I can only walk half the paths. The lake back in the fields vanished overnight, but apparently the yard is not as thirsty.
 
warm and sunny again today. lovely! we walked the park this morning, 1 hr 20 minutes. lots of birds but nothing unusual or special. its weird how all winter when its raining alot the paths are firm and fairly dry. in spring, with less rain, they become a mud hole! i wear boots and plod right through. thought it would be much busier but we didnt see anyone until the last few minutes of walking.
 
Saturday was a rest day. Yesterday I did a 45 minute Peloton Ride and 10 minutes of Arms & Light Weights. Today I did a 20 minute Peloton Ride and an hour of Restorative Yoga.

Carolyn- I’m so sorry for what your daughter is going through. It’s good that you are close enough to visit her often. Like Valerie said, the treatments are much more effective now. I hope she improves quickly and can go home soon. Great job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga and JS Stride and Step.

Cathy-Great job with Stretch Max with the band and the Great Glutes Mix. It looks like a couple more days of cold weather this week then we start to see some warmer temps.

This morning I did LMR 2 PHA Cardio Fusion, 36 minutes, 163 calories burned, average heart rate 117, and maximum heart rate 141. Yesterday I did STS 2 Chair Yoga before I went to the hospital.

Valerie, it’s good that you were able to walk the park for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

we mountained biked this morning. seems like a long break since we last rode at tree farm but too cold, too wet, and DH had his cataract procedures. weve ridden around our neighborhood several times in between. it was beautiful today. only roads are open at tree farm until the 15th but we get a plenty effective workout on the roads. i prefer roads to trails and all the elevation gain and loss are there.
 
Yesterday I did a 45-minute treadmill walk and 10 minutes of Arms & Light Weights. Today is an active rest day, I did 45 minutes of stretching and PT work.

Carolyn-Great job with STS 2 Chair Yoga and LMR 2 PHA Cardio Fusion.

Today I finally got in a workout. I did CL #408 Low Impact Cardio Legs Express 32 minutes, 185 calories, heart rate 123/151 using 12 and 15# dumbbells. I then did LMR #2 Elevated Low Impact Cardio Fusion, 32 minutes, 213 calories, heart rate 137/168. Total time 64 minutes, 398 calories.
 
This morning I did LMR Barre Fusion, timesaver premix, 40 minutes and 91 calories burned. My average heart rate was 103 and maximum heart rate was 133.

Cathy, good job with Live Metabolic Mix Up.

Valerie, good job with the mountain biking.

Judy, nice job with the treadmill walk, Arms & Light Weights, stretching, and PT work.

Diane Sue, I’m glad that you were able to get in a workout. Nice job with Live Low Impact Cardio Legs Express and LMR 2 Low Impact Cardio Fusion.

we did a road ride today, 15 miles, an hour and a half. lovely day and way warmer than we expected. had to seriously adjust our clothing part way along. i got way over heated. had long pants on. had to shed helmet cover, socks, and a second shirt.

we are going on a driving trip to southern utah leaving sunday. I will be absent for a week to two unless the connection is way better than i expect it to be.
 
Today I did LMR 2 Elevated Upper Body, 49 minutes, heart rate 90/114, 142 calories. I followed it with Senior Shape with Lauren Pilates workout for Posture (osteoporosis friendly), 27 minutes, 67 calories. Total time 78 minutes, 209 calories.

Carolyn, good job on LMR Barre Fusion timesaver premix 40 minutes today. Prayers for your daughter and the infection.

Judy, good job treadmill walk and 10 minutes of light weights and the active rest of stretching and physical therapy.

Valerie, nice work on the 15 mile road ride today.

This morning I did P30 Lower Body. I was about 50/50 using the same weights as Cathe. LOL And the paths that were doable yesterday, I'm not going to even try today. We had more rain and it's very dreary. Yesterday turned out beautiful sunny and mid-60's. Some consistency would be nice. The week Nick will be here is now showing 4 days in a row of rain. Yuck. Hopefully that will change.

Valerie sounds like a very nice, if hot ride.
 
No workout for me today. My daughter was discharged from the hospital and I’m here at her apartment. I pretty won’t work out for several days as I will be here with her. She was discharged with supportive care at home. We are working out a schedule for when someone will be here with her.
