Hi Linny, Josie, Joan, and Deb (if you are back)--

This morning I repeated disk 13 (65 min.). This is chest, shoulders, triceps, and I am fried.

DH and I went out to dinner last night. I had my usual Manhattan and a baby spinach salad followed by monkfish in yucca and shiso with a beet reduction and a red pepper aioli sauce. It was excellent!!

Yesterday was so yucky--sleet, driving rain, even some snow. It sounds like this whole week is going to be wet and pretty dismal. I have to go for my annual checkup tomorrow, and then come back later in the week for the usual tests.

I watched Rachel Getting Married (netflix). Talk about harrowing! It was a very, very moving film--strongly recommend if you have not seen it. Jonathan Demme directed. A lot of handheld camera.

Hope you are not too sorry to be back home, Deb!

Hi, I'm Back!

Hello all!

We got back late Friday night ( about midnight) and yesterday was spent unpacking, and trying to rest up.

Mexico was lovely, sunny and very hot! All was going well until John got a major case of Montezuma's revenge, had the hotel dr check him out and he said he needed to go to the emergency room for IV stuff since he was vomiting everything including water ( TMI?)..5 hours in the emergency room later, and 3 prescriptions, he was doing better but could not eat any fried, dairy, or fatty stuff ( all his loves!).. then that night I proceeded to get all hives all over my body...lucky we brought diphenhydromine (sp?)..but I had them until we got home about midnight Friday. joy..

Linny, I really feel your pain with the hives, I now know exactly what you go through! It sounds like you and DD are going to have fun planning the wedding! You need to ask for "hazard Pay" if you have to break up fights!

Garance, I can't imagine going to Thailand for a wedding. Of course I would go too if it was my son's wedding. I think foreign countries are scaring me now. My friend taped the DWTS shows for me, I will get them tomorrow at work. I am glad they eliminated 2 at one time. Are you still thinking it will be the gymnist that wins? I am looking forward to whatever Mesocycle makes you sleep! I would love to see pics of the babies!

Joan, where did your client that works in Mexico go? The DR that was examining my DH said that Mexico City is the most dangerous city in the world! I know that in my business, there is an occasion to have to go there, but never alone, and usually no women will go. I am glad I am on the northern border for work and not the southern. I bet you can't wait until all your returns are done. Did you and your DH come up with a plan to celebrate? That body band device sounds interesting...let us know how you like it.

Josie, glad you are feeling better..maybe all that cardio did burn the cold/flu out of your system.

Have a great day!

Bcak to work Monday!

Good Morning!

No workout, still very tired. We had a nice dinner at my brother's house last night. It is raining and a thunder storm right not.

How is everyone doing? I did not mention it before but I came back to find out that 8 of my people were layed off the day I was coming home. :(..there were 233 total in the division I work in. I hope this is the last of it.

Garance, according to your DH, we should get our first frost on October 6th right? I think this is the first thunder storm this spring.

Have a good day...

Good Morning all,

Deb glad you're back. The client worked in the Chihuahua area in Mexico. at least it sounded like the dog. I could be wrong. Emerson Electric used to send in executives with armed guards ( I don't know what area) but has now banned travel to Mexico. My dh's company has a supplier in Mexico near the border and rents a car from a dealer not rental co so it is not as obvious they are not local.

Back to work.

Joan

Hi Deb, Joan, Garance and Linny,

I did my spinning this weekend and felt much better overall. Today I signed up for a new class at my gym where a trainer is going to have a circuit workout in the weight room.
I will let you know how it works out.

Deb, I'm glad that you are back home. My DH and I have decided not to take a vaction in Mexico this year until the situation changes there. I wanted to go to Huatulco which is in the state of Oaxaca.

Joan, I was born in El Paso, Texas and lived in Cd. Juarez Chihuahua, my mom was born in Chihuahua. Juarez is the place where so many girls have vanished and they still have no clue who is killing them. I still have some friends there and the situation is very scary.
I moved form there when I was 13.

Garance, That meal sounded great. We went to a jazz club last night to see a co-worker perform and she was great. We had a good time except for the food. It was very bland and expensive.

Linny, How are you any more fights at work?

Have a great day ladies.

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did Gay Gasper's All-Out Infused Step (63 min.).

Welcome back, Deb! I received my Pro-X eye cream last Thursday and sent a check on Friday. Yep--DH says 6 months after the first thunderstorm in the spring is the day to expect the first frost. How is your DH now with the stomach troubles? When I went to Cancun, I stayed on bottled water even in the nice hotel where I was staying. Do you have any idea what the hives were from?? I think, Deb, that you would/will like mesocycle 2, which reminds me of SH, but also a bit of pyramids. Once again, last night I slept like a baby and did not get up even once. My chest and shoulders are a bit sore. I did the first flat bench flies with 20 lb. dumbbells and really, really felt them. I usually use 15s.

Are you almost done, Joan? DH is just finishing up our taxes. He has all the complications of depreciation on equipment--and he really has a lot of equipment (3 tractors, 3 trucks, a skidder, hay stuff). Boggles my mind--and he is always looking for something else. Wants a wood chipper next.

Josie, I hate when you end up paying a lot for a blah meal. I don't mind paying a good amount if the meal is special. If you do that NYC thing, check out Boeuf ala Mode. Exquisite French food and very friendly, very French staff--family-owned forever. There is also a great Greek place--Molyvos. Definitely need reservations for both.

Hi to Linny!

A Snowy Tuesday!

Good Morning!

I can't believe we are getting snow right now. There is about an inch on the ground. Where is spring?

Joan, yes there are some scary parts of Mexico, as Josie mentioned. I think I would find a different job if I had to go to those extremes to travel. The stress is not worth it. I was glad that the resort areas were the same as always. There may have been a few extra security people in the hotel, but not that you would be worried.

Josie, glad you are better.. I am not familiar with the place you wanted to go in Mexico. It is close to the border? I hate when you pay for a meal and it is so-so..

Garance, all the water in the hotel is bottled. They have a sign on the bathroom sink that says the water is not drinkable. There are trucks that bring in purified water every day so that the drinks/ice etc are all made from purified water. I think it was the fact that he took so many ant-acids. The hotel DR said that could be why he got it and I did not. They kill the good acid that kills any small bacteria. I am debating on whether to start over with STS. It is really hard to work out for a full hour before work during the week.

Linny, hope all is well with you.

Have a great day, stay warm!

Good Morning,

We had our snow yesterday. Today is sunny and I hope warmer.

I finished 2 large returns yesterday but got 5 new ones in. I don't think I'll make much headway doing that.

I'll be starting sts over about the first of May.

The armband at least makes me think about doing something each day. I've done 30 min and 5000 steps each day since last Wed., but I know that's not enough. The total is so much lower when I don't do treadmill or dvd for 30 minutes. Based on my activity level (when not exercising) it's a wonder I don't weigh 300 lbs.

Garance you mentioned your check up and that reminded me I had never gotten the results of my bone density test. I called them yesterday for results I am pre-osteoporosis ( I can't attempt to spell what that's called) I've got to get to lifting. They prescribed calcium and vitamin D twice a day. What's funny is I had just signed up for my medical chart on line and noticed the last blood test was low in vit D. No one mentioned that but gave me most other results. That doctor didn't suggest bone density test either.

Back to work,

Joan

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did disk 14 (48 min.) the second time for legs. I used heavier dumbbells this time (20s instead of 15s for squats, lunges, plies) and a 40 lb barbell for deadlifts. I really felt these exercises, and I am going farther with the paper plate slides--backward and sideways.

Deb, I think you could easily break down these disks in mesocycle 2. On disk 13, for example, she moves methodically through chest, then shoulders, then triceps--about 20 min. for each; and on disk 14, you could do two of the tri-sets one day, and the third with the calves another day for about 25 min. each. By the way, the calf exercise is a killer. On DWTS, I now think Gilles may win. He was incredible last night on the paso (or is it pasa?) doble. I didn't see the last half hour because I had to watch 24.

Hey, Linny, is DH watching 24? It is very good this season. You can predict the return of Jack's daughter to save him--because he has to live into the next season.

Joan, my bone density was excellent last year. I will have to do another colonoscopy, though. Every five years because my mom had colon cancer.

Hi to Josie!

Hi Ladies:
Last week was the week from hell.So glad its over!!Between the state surveyors, working crazy hours, renovations on my dementia unit and fighting staff:eek:
Deb:So glad you made it back safe and sound.I didn't realize Mexico was having so much trouble. Its too bad, wreaks the tourist season for them and us:( Sorry to hear about your hives and DH's GI troubles. As soon as my insurance kicks in I'll be calling a specialist about my hives.I'd like to have them cured before summer.
Garance:DH did watch 24 last night,it must be good because he stayed awake though the entire show. DH and I went and saw Fast and Furious this past weekend.Pretty good movie, lots of action.I didn't realize until this past saturday that sunday was Easter.Wow that was fast, seems like it was just St.Patricks.
JoanC:I never had a bone density test done.I definitely have to get a colonoscopy, haven't had my 50 yr old baseline done.Keep putting it off,not looking forward to going. We didn't get any snow yet and I haven't heard of any coming.
Josie:Sorry to hear about so-so meal,at least the entertainment was good.No recent fights since last week.Aide got upset about a resident not wearing a alarm while walking and asked the nurse why she wasn't wearing one and I guess she didn't like the answer she got. Then 5 minutes later a resident was behind nurses station and aide told nurse "You know patients aren't suppose to be behind station".Nurse got mad and said "Do you want to run this floor?"
I told aide work on other unit for the night and she said she was going to call her lawyer blah, blah, blah.It gets me mad that some staff just don't realize we are there for the residents and that the dementia unit especially needs calm compassionate people running it.
Hopefully this will be an uneventful week~Linny~

It's HUMP DAY!

Good Morning!

I can't wait for this week to be over! What is everyone doing for Easter? I am having my nieces and their families over for early morning brunch. I think they like that ( I am sure the husbands like it), because they get to see family, but have most of the day to themselves! The weather is still very cold here. It is sort of snowing right now, but not the kind that sticks.

Joan, maybe we can do STS together..I am not doing well right now with the workouts either, but I don;t have the good excuse like you do. I also have Osteopenia ( sp?) and have been on Fosamax for 4 years.

Garance, I am a little behind on DWTS..I watched last week's shows last night, and will watch this week's tonight I hope. I think Gilles is the best right now. It was funny with Shawn with the Lindy, I kept thinking she seems heavy or something, then Carianne said, "you seem heavy"...I also thought they put too many tricks in and not enough of the dance. I should just start STS with Meso 2, but the type A personality in me won;t let me skip meso 1. So I end up doing nothing..dumb huh?

Linny, it sounds like tension is running high at work for you. Our people are quiet and trying to be invisible...it's sort of sad and scary at the same time.

Have a good one!

Good Morning all,

I plan to have Easter this year. It will be the first time in years. My brother's family and my ds family will be coming over in the afternoon. Usually any holiday between Feb 1 and April 15 is ignored.

I have 392 returns in with 374 done. Returns are much more complicated now and I can only complete 2 or 3 per day.

Back to work.

Joan

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did 5 miles with Leslie (63 min.). She includes 2 minutes of jogging on each mile on this DVD.

I had my blood work done this morning. Question for nurse Linny: Is it okay to drink coffee before they take blood? I know you have to fast and it's okay to drink water, but how about the caffeine? I really missed it this morning, but I couldn't remember the rules.

Another calf born last night--1 A.M., according to DH. He heard Starshine bawling and went out to make sure everything was okay. I didn't hear a thing. I swear it's these STS workouts on mesocycle 2.

Linny, I don't think I am the Fast and Furious type. It just looks like a lot of souped-up cars revving their engines. If I don't care about the characters, the action sequences just bore me. Since my mom had colon cancer, I started on my colonoscopies in 1999. This one will be my third. It doesn't faze me at all anymore. Even the prep has changed for the better. The first time I had to drink this foul-tasting liquid by the gallon. At a certain point, I started gagging and could not get it down, so my doctor shifted me to something else less disgusting.

Deb, that's too bad about STS. I just think you would like the second mesocycle a lot better. I, on the other hand, feel guilty if I don't use workouts I have bought. I will probably keep cycling these for years!

It's really cold here, but no snow, thank goodness!

Hi to Joan and Josie!

Hi Ladies,

Today I will be spinning. Yesterday I did the elliptical and abs at work. I have to get back to my weights.

My bone density is fine and so is my DM. We went at the same time, so I know that I come from good stock. She and I have had the same experiences with our periods, childbirth and the change. I need to go in and get my colonoscopy I have been avoiding it for the last 3 years.

My dil and my gs's will be coming to my house for Easter. I need to make some baskets for the kids. My DM and DD and DB # 4 will be coming to.

Josie

Hi Ladies:
Another busy day at work.In at 8 out at 5:30 no lunch.I might have a uti, probably from holding pee all day long.Or it could be from the jacuzzi saturday night.I'll have to test myself tomorrow at work and see.Hope not because I don't have health insurance yet.
Deb:Looks like it will only be DH's DD and her boyfriend all grandkids will be with other parent so it will be a quiet holiday. I still am having problem in the weight dept.I think I may do Atkins diet since I lost 20-30 pds last time.I still have not been able to go to a weightwatchers meeting due to my crazy hours.
Garance:I've heard different things about fasting labs.Caffeine in coffee can increase adrenaline which will stimulate body to produce more glucose. So I guess it depends mostly on what tests are being done and what your MD wants. Sorry to hear about your Mom.My DH's uncle died of colon cancer 2 years ago and DH has had pre-cancerous polyps removed.Just listening to my DH complain has caused me not to want to go.
JoanC:Glad to hear you'll be able to celebrate holiday this year.I'm kind of looking forward to a quiet Easter.
Josie:What a good Grammy to make Easter baskets.Ususally if my DGC come over I put a little something together for them too.
Have a good night~Linny~

Thursday- To Canada again!

Good Morning!

I am off to Canada early today.

Joan, what does having "392 in" and "374 done" mean? are the 374 still to be sent in? do you do them electronically? Our accountant does not file paper anymore, so no form to sign etc.

Garance, I have heard different answers about whether you can drink coffee when you are supposed to fast for blood work...A friend of mine does the tests in a lab at a hospital and she says that as long as you drink it black, it is ok. I asked the person that took my blood the last time at the blood taking place and she said the same thing. no cream or sugar, and it's ok...I would think that Linny would be correct in that the caffine may do something to your system, affecting the bloodwork, so I always suffer and stop right after and get coffee!

Linny, I hope you don't have a UTI, but then again, if you have the symptoms... do you actually do the urine test yourself? then prescribe your own meds? LOL...I would love to be able to do that. There is nothing worse than a bladder/UTI infection, and they always come on the weekend!

TO ALL: don't put off colonoscopy! It is so important! I had pre-cancerous polyps, twice...my DR asked about siblings, etc. Apparently if I had them, sibs would too... I told him I had a brother a few years older, he made me promise I would nag him to go too...I did, would not let up, so he went and he had pre- C polyps as well....

Take care!

Good Morning,

Deb it means 392 people have brought me there tax information and I have only finished 377 (now) of them. Only 15 more to complete but I still have a few more to come in. I don't like extensions. (except of course for me;)) I give my clients an option to file paper or electronically. I have some clients who just don't want the electronic filing.

I had hoped to have Elliot only 3 days a week during the month of May, but now I may have her all 5 days. A little boy at day care is biting her. So far three times and they were only aware of it the first time. If that keeps up dil will pull her out.

No wo yesterday and it doesn't look good for today.

Back to work,

Joan

Hi Ladies,

I will have to workout at lunch today. I wll do the elliptical for 40 to 45 minutes plus abs.
I have another black tie event to go to tonight. I'm so sick of these events.

My Dh tried get me to go to another event on the 17th and I told him that I have had enough.

I will get my colonoscopy when I go in for my check up. I know my Dr. will scole me for not going last year.

Linny, I hope that you don't have a uti.

Deb, Have a safe trip.

Hi Joan and Garance.

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did disk 15 for the second time (54 min.) for back and bis. My arms are fried.

I have had a few polyps removed each time, but they were not pre-cancerous. Just regular old polyps. If they are pre-c, do you have to do the repeat colonoscopy sooner than 5 years?

Gosh, it's beautiful here today. I may leave early and get some fertilizer for my peonies. The rec is to put some on when they are 3 inches up, and they are beginning to sprout. My Christmas rose (hellebore niger) is blooming like crazy.

Deb, I suffered without my morning dose of caffeine. I also didn't go in when the labs open (7:45), because then there is a long wait. I went in about 10 and was immediately vampirized. Hope you have a safe trip!

Linny, maybe you should try South Beach. It worked for me--I lost 10 pounds and kept them off. I sometimes wish I had stayed on it longer. Sigh! I just cannot seem to muster the energy to diet. I have only had one UTI and it was AWFUL! Hope everything's okay.

I don't know, Josie, sounds like you are living a glamorous life in lalaland, and are so blase about it that you are bored with puttin' on the Ritz. I guess if I had to dress up a lot and try to chat with a bunch of people I didn't know that well, I would get irritated too.

Joan, that's too bad about the biting. My older son was bitten once in daycare, and it was terrible. I would think the biter should be the one to go until the problem is solved.

TGIF!!

Good Morning all! Happy Friday..

Is everyone working today? We do not have this as a holiday, although it is a very big one in Canada. They also take Monday off. I hope the weather stays nice and sunny like it was yesterday.

Joan, only 15 more to do...I bet you can't wait until you are done. I'm with Garance, why does Elliot have to stay out of day care? The biter should be told to stay home!

Josie, Yes, I would not want to go to so many dress up events! They seem to all be the same.

Garance, yes Pre-C polyps make you have to have the test every 3 years. I had 2 tests in a row without polyps so the Dr put me on a 5 year schedule. It's still scary, I would rather do 3 years.

Linny: Hi! Hope you did not have to work late last night..

Have a great day ...
