OTC treatment for hot flashes/night sweats???

Has anyone found an over the counter treatment that helps with hot flashes and night sweats? How long did it take to see an improvement. Mine were gone for ages and have now returned. Not too bad yet but interfering with sleep so I want to do something before it gets any worse.

I just recently encountered the hot flashes and I started taking 1000 mg of Evening Primrose Oil and the hot flashes IMMEDIATELY ceased! I can't tell you how thrilled I am. I just bought Whole Foods brand of Evening Primrose Oil - 500 mg and I take 2 a day. It is definitely worth a try.

Marie, I was experiencing them for about a month and it was interferring with my sleep also. They weren't bad but just enuf to wake me several times a nite. My doc recommended Black Cohosh so I bought it about three weeks ago and have not had one since . (It took three days of taking it to get the results. Whether it is coincidental that they went away, I don't know?? Good Luck!

I swear by Femmerol. It's an all natural herbal combination I order from an online health food/supplements store. Contains: sage leaf, red raspberry leaf, bayberry bark, capsicum fruit, damiana leaf, giner root, licorice root, valerian root, black cohosh root, kidzu root extract and red clover flower extract.

I have taken this for about 2 years now, and it took about 30 days to fully affect my system. It has helped all my PMS/perimenopause symptoms. For a while I was an unbearable person most of the month.

I often wondered if it really helped or if it was "in my mind". One month I could not find it to purchase, was w/o for almost 3 weeks - end of story: my husband never lets me run out of this stuff!
