on-line education

I was just curious as to whether or not any of you have any opinions regarding on-line education. I was thinking of trying medical transcription so that I can stay at home with my two young children. I often see the classified's in the back of my Parents magazine, etc. writing about receiving an education at home. Are these credible certification programs? I'm a little sceptical, but am very willing to try it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alicia, I'm an at medical transcriptionist and I love it. Check out www.Mtdaily.com. On the right hand side of the page are several different companies that offer transcription courses. I can't tell you anything about them as I had on the job training.

Thank you so much for your response. I looked into it immediately. I am currently an Optician with Costco Wholesale, however I have my two small children and would love to set my own hours, if possible. My husband and I have opposing days off so that we don't have to put the kids in daycare. Our marriage is suffering as a result. I hope that I am able to complete the courses successfully. I would say do your research, and try to find out about the certifying facility from another source. Your local library might be able to help. Try to see if you can talk to other participants of the course as well, and get their feedback. I've taken courses online, and I haven't had any problems, but as with anything, you should thoroughly check it out first before you spend your valuable time and money. Best of luck to you!!

Hi again - I just took classes here and there on nursing stuff, and a couple of online course about basic computer things. Nothing toward a degree. Hope that helps!!
