off day

anyone ever have an off day of working out. meaning you just can't get into no matter how hard you try. i did 30 min on the elliptical and just couldn't get into it at all. i then did an hour of vinyasa yoga but couldn't get into that either. i feel like i wasted a good 90 min on nothing

Yep, definitely have had those days, even weeks where workouts just weren't clicking, and I was totally not into them at all. Maybe you need a few rest days? That's what everyone suggested to me.

me too

I've definitely been there, especially lately, as I try to get back into a regular routine after missing 6 weeks due to illness/car accident. I agree that it's usually a sign of needing a rest day or two (or more -- when was the last time you took a rest week?). I'll usually take a few days (assuming I continue to feel lethargic) and then pull out my most fun workout -- sometimes that's a non-Cathe dancy workout or easier kickboxing...whatever gets me excited about moving again. Good luck!

so i think it was a need of a new workout. after i posted this i viewed cardio core circuit as i haven't done it yet. well it looked like so much fun and motivated me so i went and did this one. I LOVED IT! Needless to say in total i worked out to 2.5hrs today: 60 min yoga, 30 min elliptical, 50 min CCC. Its amazing how motivating a new workout can be:)

My husband truly thinks I'm addicted to workouts. I can't adequately explain to him how much variety means to me. My mind and body need the change. And I use ALL my workouts. I love doing one I haven't done in a while--it's so fun. And these new STS Cardio workouts are so refreshing and different!

Thanks for the post,

Every day can present different feelings. Sometimes a new workout, a good talking too, coming to the boards for support, or simply a day of rest.
Good luck!

I hate when that happens. I feel it was waisted as well, but IMHO it's not. Your body was moving and that's what counts, even if you weren't into it. autumn

I spent twenty minutes the other day staring at my workout collection unable to pick one. After that, I think I stuck in one after the other and kept pulling them out thinking "meh...I don't feel like doing that." Fortunately, there was a Law and Order, SVU marathon on TV so I stuck that on and jumped on my spin bike. Nothing like some Elliott to keep me moving.

Thanks for the post,

My BF is the same way. When I got STS Cardio, he said I need a new workout DVD like I need a hole in my head. My workout DVD collection is pretty massive; it takes up 2 shelves on the DVD rack. But variety really IS key!! I love all of my workouts and use all of them, esp the new STS Cardio bundle. They are so much fun! What a great addition to the collection!!

Me too

Yes, I've had those days as well. I'll try to push through it and if it isn't happening for me, I quit. It must be my body telling me to rest. It usually happens once in a long time, usually for a day and rarely for a week.

I like my huge collection of workouts because I can usually find something that I want to do when I don't want to do something else. If I want to kick my butt or if I want to take it easy. It's an excellent variety. Plus, they each have different exercises, intensities and variations that our muscles need.

Oh, yes! I've had days where i just didn't feel like I can get through a workout and I either shorten it or don't put much energy into it! It's what I call a "blah" day!

Of course, we're all human.
I can't imagine anyone NOT having an off day once in a while.

Just put it behind you and go on.

It's not what you do on one particular day that is important, it's what you do consistantly.
