NYC hotel recommendation

My DH and I are taking my kids to see the Lion King and I'd like to stay overnight since it's an 8:00 show on a Friday night. Any good hotels nearby, mid range (under $300)? My kids have never been into the city and I'm really excited to go!!!

TIA!
Michele

When I had to go to NYC about a year ago on short notice due to a medical emergency in the family I stayed at three different hotels in 10 days. My favorite was the Salisbury http://www.nycsalisbury.com/?mcid=gc184k1 In some ways it was not a fancy hotel but the room was large and clean. I think it was originally a studio apartment. There was a fridge and a microwave in the room and they offered a breakfast for just $3.00. It was mostly carbs, bagels and such but considering NY prices it was a great deal. Only thing though, I booked through hotels.com and got a great rate under $200.00 a night for week nights. The rate went up to over $400.00 (maybe even 500) for the weekend so I moved to a different hotel.

Jacque -

I actually saw the Lion King a few years ago and loved it, and I know my kids will be amazed. I happened to come across a promo that Disney is offering for their Broadway show - buy one ticket, get the second for $15 - and could not pass it up!

If anyone is interested, go to Ticketmaster's site, enter 15MS as the discount code. It's good until May 31st, I believe, and can be used for Lion King, Mary Poppins or Little Mermaid.

Thanks for the discount code. Out of the three Disney Broadway Shows that are running right now I have to say that Mary Poppins is my favorite. I highly recommend it! I've seen it 3 times already.:) Lion King is second with the Little Mermaid coming in third.:)

My son's HS choir is doing a version of the Little Mermaid next month. He's playing King Triton.:)
