NYC Catheites - "Pope traffic" this weekend??

My mom and I are driving down to JFK Saturday for an evening flight. With the Pope being in town, are there any traffic issues being predicted? We're coming down from upstate New York.

I'm all for being early to the airport, but I rather not be TOO early and up waiting there for six hours...if ya' know what I mean. I tried to find some info online, but had no luck. TIA.

Gayle, don't know about NYC, but my DH just returned from DC last night and said the airport was fine--Reagan International, but the streets were crazy with people. SO that didn't help your situation at all did it?:7

If you can avoid Manhattan you'll be fine - midtown is going to be frozen between the east side and 6th Avenue on Friday; Saturday he's doing at St. Patrick's which will also completely screw up Midtown; on Sunday the fun is in Queens, at Yankee Stadium. Shut downs are big and wide. But if you're just driving through to the airport, you should be okay.
