November Fat Loss

Good morning, I hope you both had a great weekend. We managed two long bike rides, one of which was FREEZING. Spinning is starting to sound like an okay idea now. Pedal Power still has the shrink wrap on, it might get unwrapped this coming weekend.

Sue, I hope your work schedule is leaving you time to squeeze in some workouts. I know I get a little nutty if I miss too many days. Thursday was an unplanned day off for me and I felt out of sorts the entire day.

Diana, how was your visit with the grandchildren? I hope it was a blast. : )

When we start STS, I'm going to try to stay faithful to MFP logging at the same time. I'm getting a little nervous of all the holiday food around the corner. I'm really looking forward to not having to figure out a rotation for the next three months. :D

Hi Ladies,

I'm back from my trip! I had a wonderful time with Amanda and the girls! They asked if I could come back for next Halloween. Too cute. They will be here for a couple weeks at Christmas time and then I'm not sure if I will see them again before summer.

My weight is about the same as when I left. They eat a lot of carbs, bread...bagels, muffins etc. I was able to stick to using 1 slice instead of two. The Halloween candy, well lets just say it was the littleness that saved me.

Amanda and I went for a 5 mile very steep hilly run on Thursday morning. My knee hurt for a couple of days after that. It's so nice to have someone to run with sometimes.

I'm starting a 21 day raw food cleanse in the next few days. I ordered the program online, its all whole foods..no supplements or anything like that. Hopefully I can start Wednesday or Thursday, after I read the materials and go grocery shopping.

Tina-I hear ya on exercising in freezing weather, not fun. I don't have a trainer or spin bike, but sometimes I use the cycle downloads on my phone or ipod on the spin bikes at the rec ctr. Everyone that I know that uses MFP really likes it a lot. I know it has a bi-directional sync with my fitbit and I've used for the nutritional values to determine the WW points of certain foods.

Sue-it's sounds like work has been keeping you busy. Hope you'll still be able to join us on STS. I know how much you like weight training!

back to the grind...

Yesterday was XT C,S,&B + core. Today was XT CLB + LL&A w/ bonus barre. What a great combo! If I have time on Thursday, I'm going to pair XT Legs with GG. XT B&T + core for tomorrow. Getting ready for the long XT break coming up. : )

Diana, you're GD's sound adorable. Too bad they weren't closer to you. I'd love to hear more about your raw diet. Can you pair that with WW easily? What is your motivation for going raw?

Sue, I hope you're having a great week. Miss your posts!

Hi Ladies,

Well I was down 1.2lbs for a total of 16.8lbs at my weigh in yesterday. I still have a ways to go, but I will get there!

Here's the link to the 21 day cleanse I'll be doing: 21 Day Raw Food Reset | How to Reclaim Your Get-Up-And-Go in 21 Days
I finally went grocery shopping for week 1 meals yesterday. There is some food prep necessary so my official start date will probably be Saturday. Probably giving up coffee will be the most difficult for me.

The Holiday Meltdown class is tonight. Well it's actually on M/Th and we do mostly circuit style using bodyweight work, weights, and cardio. So far I am loving the BR Oct Challenge. Today is day 17 or 18 for me. I'm seeing flatter/firmer abs and some muscle definition on my arms that is always very difficult for me to achieve.

Did any of you see the November rotation? It looks great too. What's a girl to do? Are we starting STS on Saturday?

Tina-Your double w/o's rock!!! I only have time for those on the weekends. Not sure how the cleanse will work with WW, but it is definitely doable. I'm trying to get away from packaged and processed foods. My week 1 groceries were $60 which I don't consider bad. I normally spend $250/week for my family of 5.

Sue-where are you missy? Are you ready for STS?

TG-We are starting the STS rotation...Saturday I think. Would you like to join us? Will this rotation fit in with your recovery and your goals? I've gotten a little "soft", running and tri training over the summer didn't leave much time for weights. I've been enjoying the Bodyrock October 30 day challenge.

Good morning Ladies, I hope you're both doing well. Yesterday was a chilly 40 mile bike ride. It takes 10 minutes just to get all the layers on, I call it th ninja kit. Due to my super sensitive teeth, I have to wear a face mask to keep the cold air out. DH says the only thing missing from my black and white get-up is a set of antlers.

Diana, how's the raw diet going? Are you having coffee withdrawls yet? I still need to check out that website. My grocery bill is about the same as well.

Sue, I hope you're doing well. Check in soon, I miss you! : )

Really excited for STS to start. I've made my cardio chart and still plan to stick to trying not to repeat any during this rotation.

hi ladies, I'm back! :) I did something foolish this week and tried to do the first week of the November rotation, I made it 3 days. Intensity Monday (kept up with step for first half then started floundering - but finished it), cardio leg blast Tuesday (love that one!), pyramid UB + walking lunges Wednesday. was supposed to do 300 walking lunges but only made it to 44. Come Thursday i just couldn't do butts & guts, had DOMS everywhere! a nice benefit is that my mood improved significantly this week. I think the sporadic workouts were leaving me in a funk, not getting enough endorphins flowing.

I started STS yesterday but still have UB DOMS so i began with legs. I forgot how hard meso 1 is, you know I'll be counting down the days to M2! There's one exercise that confuses me - dead lifts on a platform. is there anyone who goes so low they need to be a few inches off the floor?

Tina, you should share with us your cardio chart, I'd love to see it! I'd also love to see you in antlers :). I have been on MFP but have only been logging my workouts lately. when I see you back on over there I'll start logging food too. are you starting STS on Monday?

Diana your Halloween trip sounds lovely, it's nice you have such a good relationship with you DIL. Your raw food link looks interesting, but it looks like it will overlap thanksgiving? anyone in your house doing it with you? congrats on your continued weight loss, you're doing SO WELL!!!!

who is TG?

Not sure what I'll do today, maybe a little kickboxing? Have a great Saturday ladies :) !!!

Happy Sunday!!

Hi Ladies,

I started the STS rotation yesterday with Disc 1. My legs tend to need extra work so I usually start with legs first and throw in another leg day each week. Now I'm torn between STS/Bodyrock/November rotation. I really want to finish up the 30 day BR rotation that I started. I will try to work in the cardio from the November rotation along with STS and doing BR when I can. The circuits seem to be helping with my weight loss.

I went to print of my worksheets for STS (I created excel sheets) and when my son wiped my desktop, well he failed to put MS office back on. I've ordered MS 2013 so I'll just install that one when it arrives. Until then, I'm using my last STS rotation worksheets and starting with the same weights. Let me just say, Disc 1 was hard!

The cleanse is going well so far. I haven't give up coffee and don't plan too. My goal with the cleanse is to learn how to incorporate whole/fresh foods into my everyday life. If it gets my weight loss going again, that's all the better. I've been sticking to the meals and they are quite good. There is a lot of prep work and a lot of time spent in the kitchen. Much to my surprise, I haven't been hungry. From looking at the meal plan I thought I would be starving.

Sue-glad to have you back! Yes, definitely need to keep those endorphins flowing. They keep the our mood lifted! Good job with Intensity, I love that w/o...it is a total sweatfest for me. I'm always so thankful when the step portion is over and I can move on to floor work, kind of my reward for getting through the step! Sorry about TG-I belong to more than one forum, she's in another forum. Just must've got confused when I posting.:p

Tina-I'm in awe of your bike rides! 40 miles is a lot to me, and in the cold doesn't sound like fun at all. Do you just do leisurely rides, or more training like with intervals, hills, jumps, etc.? My tri training rides were usually only 16 miles. We would do hill repeats, super tough! I'd be interested in seeing your cardio chart too.

Off to do Disc 2 and my BR circuit!

I hope you both have had a nice day. I took the day off for a long weekend. Yesterday I did lastics - felt great! Today was D1, holy cow that was a lot of equipment changes, what a disaster area when I was done with the workout! All my weights were challenging except one needs to be increased. I haven't decided on a workout for tomorrow yet. If my leg DOMS are gone I'll do butts & guts otherwise hard strikes or rock out knockout.

Diana is that raw diet you're doing giving you enough energy for your workouts? How are you getting your protein?

Tina I saw on MFP that you got D1 done today too. I'll start logging my food tomorrow :)

We didn't have school yesterday, so I managed to squeeze in STS abs and X10 Step after M1D1. Loved the gazillion push ups. I was able to do them all on my toes, but the last few of each set were pretty ugly! Today I'm doing Amy Bento's Body Box.

Sue, I picked the wrong day to start logging over at MFP. DD and her BF took me to the movies and smuggled in all sorts of no-no's. There was Junior Mints, mint M&M's, peppermint Chex Mix, and a mega sized popcorn, followed by birthday cake later. : / I'm seeing lots of positive comments on Lastics over on the VF boards. I just ordered Travis Eliots Yoga Crosstrain, the sale was too good to pass up. DH and I are going to add this in on the nights that are too cold to walk.

Diana, how's the raw diet going? I still need to look at the web site you posted.

If I ever get my cardio chart onto the computer, I'll post it. I just made four columns; kickbox, step/floor, spin, and circuits. I only have 12 spin DVD's, so I might have to repeat a couple of them if the weather is too bad to cycle outside.

Crossing my fingers that MFP will be smoother today. Have a great day Ladies! : )

Good Morning Ladies,

I like to do my weight training on M/TH since I would also get cardio in by way of my class. Well last night we did tubing and band work mostly with some track running and stairs thrown in, not much cardio at all. Now I'm torn between doing the next BR circuit or Intensity. Tomorrow will be CLB as my extra leg day. You know, I still haven't done either LL or GG from the new Cathe's.

The raw diet is going good, the food is really good. Not sure I like all the prep time but if I can get it down to doing the majority on Sundays then it will work for me. As far as the protein, well there isn't any meat or dairy, so just the scant amounts found in vegetables is all I'm getting for now. I've been a bit more tired perhaps, but am sleeping really good. Also, I have no intention of completely giving up meat, only doing it for this cleanse.

Tina-too funny about day one on MFP. It's one day, log it and move on. That's what I do with WW. X10, what a fun w/o. My day 21 falls on Thanksgiving. Guess I'll only be doing 20 days.:p

Sue-Glad you were able to enjoy a 3 day weekend. My whole family was home yesterday except for me. Disc 1 was pretty tough for me too. Meso 2 is my favorite, definitely need to start at the beginning though. I tried to order the Cathe Weighted Gloved used in STS and they don't carry them anymore. Mine were ruined when our basement was wet. My search indicated they are available at stores like target and wal mart so will need to get those before meso 2.

Have a great day!

D2 for me today and I did Rockout knockout yesterday. It has finally turned cold in my neck of the woods so I'm drinking a cup of hot cocoa with a dash of ancho & chipotle pepper. This is the one sweet thing I'll be trying to fit into my eating plan and it gives me something to look forward to all day.

Tina whose birthday was it & what movie did you see? Have you done Travis Elliot yoga before? I giggled at "I only have 12 spin DVDs" :). A huge congrats on doing all those pushups on your toes!!!

Diana you should definitely try LL&A, I really like it. A lot of people seem to prefer GG though. After my first round of STS I rewarded myself with pace weights, they're half pound weights that magnetically attach to your dumbells & barbells. I find them super convenient for adding on small amounts of weight.

Have a great Thursday ladies :)

Yesterday was M1D3 legs, followed by GG timesaver #1 premix. Things were going smoothly until DH and I did the first 40 min. of Yoga Crosstrain. The DOMS hit right in the middle of the workout. I don't even have to move, I'm that sore. PRS#1 should be interesting this morning. I want the rest of UY set now, I see why Travis is so popular. I might try the bonus 30 min. yoga core work tonight. We previewed it on FF last night and it looks pretty tough. Tuesday I did Bodybox and I finally nailed down Amy's windshield wiper move without having to put a cheat hand down.

Sue, it was my bday and we went to see Thor (DD's pick) on Mon. and then my neighbor took me to see Twelve Years a Slave on Tues. There's been a lot of popcorn and cake this week. Silly of me to think this week would be a good time to start MFP. I'm on the fence about restarting now. Are you cutting out sugar in your diet now?

Diana, you must try GG and LLA. I agree with Sue, these are both excellent workouts. I don't know how you can workout as much as you do and not be famished on your raw diet. Are you eating beans to replace some of the lost protein?

Have a great day Ladies! : )

Hi Ladies,

I tried posting this morning but my laptop shutdown for automatic updates and I lost my post. Disc 4, CSB was my w/o this morning. We did compound weight work on the Bosu in class tonight. Between BR and STS, I think my body needs a break from weights. Tomorrow will be straight cardio, either Tabatacise or HIIT.

I am super stoked...down a total of 19.2lbs at my weigh in yesterday. This raw diet has kick started my weight loss again. I was going up and down the same couple of pounds for the last month it seems. Week 2 of the raw food cleanse starts tomorrow. We get to add in grains and eggs this week!

I'll be having physical therapy tomorrow, they had a cancellation. It will be nice to have a diagnosis and plan to get back to being pain free.

Tina-I wish I could get into yoga, but it just doesn't keep my attention. It would probably help my running and with injury prevention too. I've had a couple protein shakes this week because I was hungry in the afternoon and didn't bring extra (cleanse foods) to work.

Sue-your hot cocoa with spice sounds yummy. I'll have to look for the pace weights. The gloves worked great for me in the past. Do they attach to the barbell or the weight plates? My weight plates are plastic, except for my 25's.

Hi ladies! Yesterday I did the lower body express premix from turbo barre. leave it to Cathe to call 52 minutes express! Today I tried the cardio blast section from x10 for the first time. it's challenging but the step portion is more difficult. my favorite so far is low impact, I still have to try hi/lo & fat burn. Tomorrow I move on to week 2 of STS, I'm looking forward to heavier weights :) :) :)

Tina happy belated birthday! I think that makes you a fiery Scorpio :). you must have some great gams from all that leg work!!! Start MFP when you want to. No sense in getting going if it's going to make you dread using it. I'm not trying to cut out sugar completely but I've been overindulging and I need to put a leash on myself :)

Diana you should be stoked about our weight loss - you're doing it really well! what kinds of grains are in your eating plan this week? What kind of PT are you getting? I didn't know you have pain.

Here's to a great weekend :)

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday I did GG for the first time. Much to my surprise, I liked it. I prefer standard heavy gym style leg training so wasn't sure I'd like it. This next week my extra leg day will be LLA. I followed GG up with Day 24 of the BR Challenge.

Today will be disc 5, T&B and then a cardio. I'm thinking KPC right now but may change my mind. Trying to stay away from step as it really hurts
my knee.

This is week 2 of the cleanse, and I prefer the week 1 meals better. We'll see. I'll spend this afternoon preparing the majority of meals for the week. It makes it easy to grab my breakfast/snacks/lunches for work each day.

PT is for my knee. I've had IT band issues in the past, but this pain is on the inner and outer side of my knee as well in the back where my knee bends and some pain in the middle of the hamstring. I have some home exercises to do, NSAID therapy, RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation).

Sue-Nice job with Turbo Barre! Gotta love the 52 min "Express" w/o.;) This week we are adding quinoa, oats, and potatoes. It seems like a very carb heavy week. PT is for my knee. I've had IT band issues in the past, but this pain is on the inner and outer side of my knee as well in the back where my knee bends and some pain in the middle of the hamstring.

Tina-Happy Belated Birthday!!! Don't be so hard on yourself regarding MFP. It doesn't matter when you start, it's simply a journal for your nutrition journey. You ate it, track it and move on. It's one day or one meal etc, not the end of the world. I am missing my protein...looking forward to salmon, chicken, tuna, ribeye etc when this cleanse is over. I can say I haven't had any stomachaches or stomach issues since starting this cleanse. I've also enjoyed a few pieces of dark chocolate and have not given up my black coffee.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend!

hola :). Yesterday was D4 and today should have been a rest day but I did lastics. About half way through yesterday my right shoulder felt wonky - severely sore but not pain - I stopped and stretched, thought maybe I shouldn't go on. but I proceeded cautiously and it worked itself out, I was able to finish the workout. it's so odd how disappointed I was, thinking I might not be able to finish. we get so attached to our plans don't we?

Diana I think I forgot to answer your question about pace weights. yes, they will attach to your barbell if it is metallic. Sorry to hear about your knees, glad you're able to PT them. Remember that your body retains extra water with extra carbs so your weigh in this week might be skewed with the grains. don't let it get you down :)

I hope you've had a great weekend Tina!

Hi Ladies, sorry I've been quiet. Friday was M1D2 and X10 LI. Saturday was a much needed rest day. We managed to get in 45 drizzly miles in on Sunday. Today was M1D4. DS is very sick today, so I may try to squeeze in LL&A later with this unexpected spare time (see how I manage to avoid housework at all costs).

I'm back to trying MFP. Part of my issue is all of the ads that take forever to upload, it takes forever to log food in.

Diana, congratulations on your huge weight loss! 20 pounds is amazing. Have you had to buy new clothes yet? I hope your knee is feeling better.

Sue, I hear you on the shoulder scare. Whenever I start to feel pain in that area, I back way off. I made the mistake once of pushing through it and was left with cronic pain for months. Everytime another round of STS starts, I'm always surprised at how challenging this system is. How can I forget something like that? It feels new to me each round.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! : )

Hi ladies, sorry to be MIA this week. I finished STS week 2 today, a little behind schedule. my only workouts this week were STS and lastics. I have to admit that today during legs I skipped the wall squats. just couldn't take them today. rocked everything else though. not sure if I mentioned but I've been doing a 30 day plank challenge that one of my FB buddies posted. today was day 16 @ 120 seconds. it took me two attempts to do it, first time right after STS I only made it a minute. just did the two minutes a little while ago. by the end of 30 days I'll be doing 270 seconds. if anyone has any pointers I would be all ears :)

Tina it's too bad the MFP site isn't working well for you. I usually use an app on my phone to log food. no ads there (yet). I'm toying with the idea of getting a gadget that monitors my activity (steps, etc). do you use anything like that?

Hi Diana - what are you up to?

Tomorrow I'm in the kitchen testing out homemade pie crust recipes. there have been no pie pumpkins in my grocery store this year so I'll be using canned pumpkin. I need to get to know my neighbors better so I can get rid of the excess easier?

Hi ladies,

Another hectic week. I can't keep track of all my workouts, but did discs 7/8/9 this week. I ended up taking Thursday & Friday off work so I could paint a bathroom. DH was home so I wanted to do it while he was here so he could remove the towel bars and put up the new ones I bought. I think I found a light bar too, but I need to measure first.

Somehow I finished up the BR 30 Day Challenge, but am considering doing it again. Something to kick up the metabolism through the holidays. My biceps are finally to show, they are my weakest link. The weight loss must be helping with that too!

This is the 3rd week of the cleanse, and I'm so happy. I'm tired of cooking so much. The recipes have been really good for the most part. I'm looking forward to chicken, salmon and ground beef...but I guess Turkey will be first!

Sue-definitely be careful with shoulder pain, they take forever to heal. Nice job with the plank challenge! My tip would be "don't forget to breathe"! I use the fitbit flex, it tracks my steps and I can log in my activity if I choose, it also tracks sleep patterns. It also has a bi-directional synch with MFP. For example, if you log activity then MFP will adjust your allotted calories accordingly. I can't speak to exactly how it works since I'm not using MFP right now but doing WW.

Tina-riding in the rain does not sound fun at all. I hope your DS is feeling better soon. Sorry you are not having good luck with MFP. I use sometimes to help me calculate the WW points. I don't recall the bothersome ads though. Well I should be buying some new pants, but I'm trying to hold off. I did buy 1 pr. of jeans and probably should've bought a size smaller. I still have another 10lbs to go to get to goal. Although I think my weight is up a couple lbs right now with all the carbs I'm eating. For example, my dinner tonight was a tex mex dish made with carrots, sweet potatoes, zucchini, kidney beans, onions, garlic, tomato. My breakfast was pumpkin muffins etc. I'm more of a protein/veggie gal and fruits for snacks.

bbl

Can you believe we're starting week three already? Time is just flying by. We managed two very short bike rides this weekend. Our ride yesterday was borderline insane, 23 degrees with gale force winds. I think we must face facts, the bikes need to be set up on the trainer.

What are you both doing for the holiday? We are planning to travel to Vermont if the incoming storm isn't too bad.

Sue, I don't have any fitness gadgets. I used to use a pedometer on my phone, but I got a little obsessive with the numbers. I would like a HR monitor though. DD wants the new Fitbit for Christmas, should be interesting to see how she likes it. Your plank challenge sounds intense! They're on my love/hate list. How did you make out on your pie crust search? My favorite is the simple Betty Crocker recipe, I think the secret is in the cold water and better quality flour.

Diana, how's your bathroom looking? I would love to update ours. Nice job on finishing your BR challenge. How's your knee feeling.

Have a great day Ladies. : )
