Netflix users - question

How do you find the newest movies released? When I click on "New Releases" it shows old movies, not new ones. Well, some are new, but most of them have been out for several months now. How do I find the ones that will be released or ones that have only been out for a few weeks?

Hollywood Video's site updates their new releases online every Tuesday so you can see what the newest DVD's are. I can't find that feature in Netflix.

Any help is truly appreciated!
Thanks!

After you get to the "new releases" page, go down two or three rows, and there is a "released in last ____" feature (you can choose "week" or 1, 3, 6, 12 months.).

I don't like that part of Netflix so I use Hollywood video to search new releases. Hope Netflix comes up with something better because it works so well for us..other than that.

Yep! I do the exact same thing. I see the same movies over and over in the New Release section, never the newest released movies.

Thanks Kathryn, I'll try that!

I do a couple of things
- use an RSS feed from other sites (like Blockbuster). Then Search in Netflix and add from that search
- search for a newly released movie (ad for theater or DVD) that I think I might like to see once released. Then add into the queue

I also think Netflix is lousy at this. Would love to see a better system. Maybe this is their method to keep demand down on the newer releases??

They used to have a nice clean website in this regard. Then they had someone "redesign" the website. Made is much harder to navigate. I usually just keep a list at home of movies I want to add to my queue (gathered from tv commercials, previews on other movies, etc), and when my list gets to a certain length, or I have the time, I log in and just look up each movie and add it in. My Netflix queue is currently pretty long, so this works. I'm in no hurry.

My obsessive-movie-loving self goes by the current movies listings in my city and search on Netflix and save them into my queue so they're already there when they come available! I can never wait for them to hit the new releases list! I try to stay ahead of the curve!

I do the exact same thing! I read my local paper and see what is playing in the theaters. Then I go to Netflix and in the search prompt, type in the name of the movie, select it, and it will be placed in your saved DVD's queue. When it is released, it will automatically move up into your available DVD list. Once there, I move it to the top of my list and hopefully get it fairly quickly.
