Need Help

I was exercising up a storm with Cathe's Hardcore & spinning at the gym. I got discouraged because I found the Hardcore too difficult. I started only doing about a 30 minutes to 45 minutes. I have lost my momentum, and I have only been spinning 1 -2X a week. I know how motivating everyone is on this site. Any suggestions would help me. I have a lot going on, new position, with lots of responsibilites, a lot to learn, going to school and in a terrible marriage. I know exercising will relieve a lot of stress. But I just can not seem to get there. Every night I promise myself I am going to get up early and workout. I love doing Cathe's workout so much. So can someone give me some help.

Maybe you need to do only the work outs that you think are "fun". Nothing that is gonna drain you physically so that you lose motivation...but pick out the cathe work outs that you ENJOY doing no matter how easy they might be for you...that might get you motivated again...then you can slowly intergrate the harder stuff....

I agree with Wendy. It sounds like you have a lot of stress in your life right now. You don't need to add to your stress by being hard on yourself for not exercising. Let yourself slow down a little and do fun, easy workouts, even if it's 30 minutes! Do Stretch Max if you have it. It's soooo relaxing! Take a walk, do some yoga, just take care of YOU!

For me, it's a matter of priority. I have to mentally keep exercise at the top of my list to keep up my momentum.

The stress of your bad marriage could be draining you emotionally, not to mention all the other things going on in your life. I'm with the other girls. Set a goal of thirty minutes and do exercises you really enjoy. Exercising will help you deal with the stress in your life but if you worry about not exercising it will only add to present stress.

Take it from someone who was in a bad marriage for 21 years, exercise saved my life...emotionally and physically.:)

I agree w/Wendy. Do what you enjoy. Stick with it & it'll become an outlet for all the crap in your life. I know when I'm having a tough time w/things a good hard workout makes me feel better.

Another "ditto" for Wendy's suggestion, except that I might add that you should do the workout whenever you can get it in. If that means that you need to prepare dinner (like a chicken pie or a casserole or a crock pot meal) the night before and turn it on to cook while you exercise after work, then so be it. If you need to sleep on the couch for a few nights and blare an alarm in your face, then do it. If you are able to jump out at lunch, do it then. Remember that even a break for some air and walking (as opposed to Cathe's workouts) is better than not doing anything.

When I am having motivation issues, I have a very tough time getting up early. Those are the times when I do it whenever it fits in (or whenever I can make it fit) and if those around me need to wait 45 minutes, they bear with me and do that.

Another thing...pick your favorites and maybe pick shorter workouts or premixes. Sometimes I can't motivate myself to do KPC, for example, but I can talk myself into a premix.

Good luck :)

I'm with Candi. Exercise probably kept me sane during a 23 year bad marriage. Don't knock yourself out. Start out slowly. Decide what your favorite kind of exercise is and start there. Running, kick boxing, or whatever. Or try something new that you've always wanted to do.

Ditto to everything everyone else has said.
I also find joining a check in here keeps me motivated.
Sort of accountable and with another group of exercisers.

Good luck:)

Thanks everyone for your support and suggestions. I am happy to say that I got up this morning and did MIS.
