Michelle and everyone!
We are indeed facing a crisis, just look at the risks we are running due to this dangerous obsession of ours:
1. being healthy, fit, energetic and happy
2. reducing our risk of contracting cancer, cardiovascular disease and other potential killers
3. being strong women
4. becoming empowered by our own increasing sense of accomplishment and daring
5. becoming self-confident through our training, with the risk that this confidence spill over to affect other areas of our lives so we risk conquering new challenges, asking for pay rises, pushing for promotions, taking no bull****
6. building stronger bones so we can be "in-yer-face" grannies later in life
7. helping to build a healthier, happier next female generation as our daughters and their girlfriends observe just how great we become as women-on-the-verge-of-a-dangerous-obsesssion
8. more mentally alert as our obsession stimulates our grey cells, promotes activation of neurons and helps keep us alive, active and learning throughout old age, with senile dementia receeding into the distance
9. more self-reliant and less reliant on others propping up our egos for us, we are actually at risk of not caring too much what others think of our "helmet hair" as we stop to admire the "V" on our curvaceous muscles (thanks Patricia)
10. at serious risk for emotional and psychological well-being as we realize we deserve to occupy the increased space in society that our new muscles and "go me!" attitude (thanks Jillybean) carve out for us
I have to confess that I am as "obsessed" as the rest of you and I am only glad that there is no cure known to woman for this dangerous state of mind and body. Due to this obsession, I am getting stronger, healthier and happier in my skin than I ever was in my twenties.
Keep on keeping-on!
Clare
