Missing mineral makeup... brand recommendations?

I love Dior and Chanel makeup, but mineral makeup I think covers the best. I plan on buying some mineral makeup soon. You can get BE on Ebay. Does anybody else buy on Ebay? I love Ebay, and I get a lot of my expensive face creams on Ebay. Good luck.

I am also one of those people who absolutely cannot use mineral based make-up. I tried both Bare Escentuals and Sheer Cover. I didn't care for the coverage and they broke my skin out terribly (and I am not an acne prone person). I guess, they are just not meant for everyone's skin type. You could possibly be sensitive to the ingredients as well, but I do hope you can find one that works well for you.

I also recommend Jane Iredale. She has a website that you can find info on her products, but I buy the products from skin-etc.com. Don't let the initial price scare you, once you put them into your shopping cart, a discount is applied.

I use the Disappear concealer on any blemishes, then the PurePressed Base on top. I like the base because it isn't messy like loose powders are. My compact has also lasted a very long time. You can also buy sample sizes for $3 to check out the colors/formula.

Her products don't break me out, but BE did - I hated the way BE made my skin look.

Someone once told me that Jane Iredale and other brands contain bismuth oxychloride (or something like that) that can contribute to breakouts, but it seems fine for my skin and I tend to break out easily. Had to stop using my Clinique Superfit and my CoverGirl Aquawhatever makeup because they broke me out.

Also, check out makeupalley.com for more reviews.

Hope this helps and good luck!

It's interesting to read all the comments on the mineral make-up. I was thinking of trying it.

My foundation, Trucco, is awesome. Talk about flawless skin! But I'm developing little red irritations all over my skin. I need to go to the dermatologist and find out what's going on, but I'm guessing she won't know and I'll have to try eliminating things to see if there's a change.

If your skin is not particularly sensitive, the make-up artist at Arrojo Studio introduced me to Trucco. It's made by the same company who makes the Sebastian hair care line. For those who watch What Not To Wear, Carmindy works at Arrojo Studio and I've seen her use Trucco on clients too. It's beautiful make-up and very affordable compared to the dept. store brands I used to use. My make-up artist says he doesn't know of anyone else having skin problems with Trucco.

I went to Sephora and had them put some BE on me. It looked pretty good. Not as good as the Trucco, but if it clears up my skin, it will be worth it.

I dont use make up --- other than a tiny bit. I'm 40s so i guess it's about time huh - I just use eyeliner, little mascara, blush from cvs loreal and lipstick loreal from CVS.

I've always liked the natural look but hmmm.. maybe i should get some help!

I just had this horrible flash i the show where they look at the person's clothes and do the makeover came to my house and saw my makeup! Yikes!

I used Jane Iredale for a few years with no skin problems (and I have REALLY sensitive skin) and love the look - very natural with enough coverage for minor skin issues. You can mix small amounts of the powder with an oil-free moisturizer to create a perfectly matched concealer, too, which was really a great feature.

I stopped using it a few months ago to try Aromaleigh only because I was having trouble matching my skintone with JI. I need more of a yellowish base, which Aromaleigh seems to have, although, I still have to mix two Aromaleigh colors to get it right. I have not been particularly happy with how Aromaleigh wears - seems to fade much faster than JI, and the coverage isn't as concealing. It does have a nice finish, and the eyeshadows are a lot of fun. I'l use up what I have and then maybe check out some of the rec's above - I love mineral foundation and don't think I could ever go back to cream or liquid!
