Low Impact HIIT??? Does it exist??

You would probably notice the difference if you quit taking the supplements for your joints. I recently quit for a bit because I was feeling very ill to the point of lying down. I read up and because I am allergic to sulfa drugs the msm was causing problems. So I decided to quit and get it out of my system. I really did notice a difference. I take Actonel for osteoporosis. I still can do some high impact stuff. Just have to be careful and do some lower days. Also I finally purchased martial arts 7/8 inch puzzle mats to cover my entire workout space. As far as kettlebells, yes they are non impact but you have to watch those knees and have great form. I started out doing all of these workuts and adding to them and that was the first time I had problems with the insides of my knees. Now that I gave that time I can do Kettlebells but never do extra. I also worked hard at getting that form just right. Was great for my feet though. I hope that you can figure out what works for you.
I also do agree that the different brands of glucosamine chondroitin maks a difference. I shop at www.vitacost.com and purchase ones that are gel caps. Many that include both glucosamine and chondroitin are not in that form. They seem to work better. I tried a desolution test once putting Schiff ones in vinegar and once they disolved the outer shell they just sat there.

Unfort., I think that knee issues, like yours and mine, are similar to working out. When the doctor really has no answers, you have to find what works best for YOU. For me, the supplements made no difference and I wasn't going to spend $30 a month for something that didn't work. I've found that certain exercises kill my knees. Jumping jacks are bad. I can only do a step workout one every other week, and even then I have to really watch the moves. LowMax bothers my knees too! It's the type of moves in the workout. Kickboxing is the only workout I can do three times a week and be able to walk without wanting to die. Also, as strange as it sounds, I can't even walk a lot. Not sure what it is about that. I think it's how my knee cap rolls in, which seems to be the main problem for me.

After lots of tests, several doctors told me that I have mild chondromalacia patella. To me, there's nothing mild about it. My next option is like yours, exploratory surgery or cortisone shots, which both aren't gonna happen anytime soon.

I've managed the pain on my own for several years now. I've worked on really strengthening all the stabilizer muscles around my knee, my hamstrings, and quads. This has really helped. And I listen to my body!!! You'll find the solution for you. :)
