Low Impact Cardio Fusion

Yes, I immediately noticed the dvd picture quality was off as well. Luckily I don't need a crisp clear picture to utilize the workouts. I've also found "hiccups" between the chapters of 2 of the time savers I've done but at least it hasn't diminished my enjoyment of the workouts.

I like the band idea, & have done PowerFit cardio workouts where you use a band on the floor for a marker for step moves. I also think I’m gonna use my Step Mat (not to be
confused with the step mat that goes on the step to lay on). The Step Mat I have was
sold by Power Systems, I think, maybe not, many many moons ago. It goes on the
floor, is just about the size of a step, and has a non slip surface & it’s used for step
when you don’t want to, or can’t use a normal step. There’s no height to it, it‘s just
a substitute for a step…I have used it in the past to practice & learn difficult step
combos before taking it to the step :)….so glad I have kept it all these years, it just
might come in handy again, for a different approach.

I enjoyed this workout. Easy to modify higher impact to lower. We have Great Mats puzzle mats so I just use the lines on the mats so no need for a prop. I liked using weights for part of it.

The weather is really crappy in my neck of the woods, so when I got home from work I thought I would try this one out. The band marker seemed a little silly so I decided to take out my step bench and did most of the moves with a little higher impact on the step. I ramped up some of the choreography with some fun old school choreography and old school dance tunes. I think this could have been a little longer with a little more choreography. I was just starting to get a sweat going and it was over. I will do this when I want something light, but it's easy to make it a little more intense.

Did this workout this afternoon. It was fun with pretty uncomplicated moves and very minimal high-impact (which you can always choose to modify). The music was cute - not quite the heavier EDM that I prefer in my workouts, but those who don't care for that kind of music might find this one's soundtrack pleasant and peppy.

As far as intensity goes, this really didn't hit the mark for me. I don't consider myself a honed athlete by any means - there are workouts of Cathe's that are so intense they tend to gather lots of dust on them before I do them again. For comparison's sake, workouts I find to be edging on "never again" are ones like Strong & Sweaty's Cardio Slam, or Intensity (the one with the black and yellow workout outfits).

This did get my heart rate up, and it kept it in a general steady-state cardio zone. Just didn't have quite the oomph I'm used to with most of Cathe's cardio. If I were to compare this to any other cardio, I'd say it's kinda like LITE Cardio Party, only less intense. I can see myself using this workout on days when I need a bit of a break.

I also chose to do the workout without the band marker as I worry it'll be come a tripping hazard for me. Maybe I need to bring it out as its presence may get me to subconsciously lift my feet higher which would maybe result in a bit more intensity. I wonder, too, if I might bring out my step for the last portion where she turns the band horizontal to mimic a step. I know that would increase the intensity a bit, too.

One final note, and I'm curious to see if others who've received the DVDs notice this, but the picture quality seemed almost low-res. Not horribly pixelated or anything, but Cathe didn't look as crisp as I usually see in her other workouts, like in STS 2. And Lisa and Nicole were borderline blurry when viewed from the front-facing camera angle.

I tried fudging around a bit with my TV's picture settings to see if maybe something was wonky there, but really couldn't get much improvement.

It didn't make the workout impossible to do, but I had to get past the feeling like I needed my glasses for a bit.
I am glad you mentioned the DVD quality because I too fiddled with my equipment, which is ancient (a 32” non-smart flatscreen that’s probably 20 years old). I have to admit, it’s kind of disappointing. I was thinking of replacing it…but it still works fine for all the other DVD’s I have. I’m 71, still work out daily, haven’t decided whether or not I want to switch to the On Demand format or just age out with all the Cathe DVD’s I own.
