Low Carbers & Friends - December 2010

Shadow

Cathlete
Now I promise, I'm not going to start talking to myself in this thread, too :p. Just wanted to get it up and going in case anyone wanted to come and play with me ;).

I'll try and pop in when I want to procrastinate. But work is driving me crazy, it is supposed to be quiet this month. Geeshe

If I told them anything, it wouldn't be something as nice as I'm too busy...I would bring out the big cuss words! Okay, back to work for me. Can you believe that it is Dec 1 already? Yikes, I gotta pay bills again. Phooey.

Ooo, my Cathe videos just came! yippee. Which one is the best for an early morning workout without having to be too awake?

My guess would be LBB. It runs in my mind it requires a lot less switching of weights. Both HR and STS TB kept me running (and even pausing the dvd at times) to fetch everything I needed.

However, you like cardio so maybe you could do that one - if tripping on the step wouldn't be an issue :p.

FWIW, cuss words work for me - less chance of misunderstanding them, lol ;).

Unfortunately, no lower body for me tomorrow. I just did Disc #6, which was the leg workout for Meso 1, week two. I don't think my hiney could take two days in a row of unbridled torture. I might not be able to do one of the new ones tomorrow morning unless I think I can do one of the Intensity ones. Hmm. Not sure I'm awake enough for that....

Hi!

I'm being lazy and not looking at where I left off with the last thread. Lita, I think I hadn't posted what I thought of STS total body. It was good, I did the whole thing including the legs. it did move fast and I had to rewind at times to get my weights. I did have DOMS 2 days later. Not my favorite workout, I think because if felt so fast. I do like slower reps with heavier weights.

DH and I have done 2 bike rides in the freezing cold with winter coats on and a mushy path. It was quite a workout.

I am subscribed to Groupon and get daily offers. So today I got 1 month membership + newbie training to a climbing wall place. It was $20 for the month and no contract, so I thought we could do this for something extra/different in January since I'm pretty sure we won't be bike riding. Just trying to be adventurous on a limited budget. I'm sure it will be tough.

Well, I don't know if you all remember all the problems we have had with our oldest son. Well, I am happy to report that he is doing much better. He is now 20 and just moved into an apartment with a room mate, someone he knew from high school. He also just got accepted onto the Geek Squad at Best Buy. This is leaps and bounds from where he has been, so I am very happy.

Have a good week. I'll try to check in more often.

Hi babes! I'm so sorry I have been away--I have missed you!!!! :( But I can't tell you what I've been up to either 'cause I don't remember! I'm sure I was up to no good just the same. :p

Thank you for starting the December thread Lita!!

I just got my DVDs today! Thank you for all of the reviews! As anal preview girl, you know I will have to preview them all. I just can't go into a workout not knowing what to expect or what weight amount I need for each exercise.

Cathe mentioned that STS TB is an endurance workout. I'm glad you like the pointers and music Lita!

I'm thrilled that your oldest son is doing so well Melinda!!!! I'm so happy for you and your family!! And I'm glad your clinicals are over--that situation had to have been very challenging!

Rhea, your house is going to be gorgeous!!! Thanks for the photo! Things are moving at the continued snail's pace here, par for the course!

Gosh, I haven't done a thing for Christmas. My fall decorations are still up! Well, I have done some shopping but that's not saying much! :)

Travel Fit Monday, an Amy Bento yesterday, no workout today (haircut and color) and HSC tomorrow. With the hectic season here, I'll be lucky to get my previewing in anytime soon! :(

Rhea - The Intensity one has lots of leg work too, IMHO, because of the impact. So hopefully you found something to be kinder, gentler on your body ;). Too bad it's not golfing weather, huh :p?

Melinda - How wonderful your son is doing so well :D!!! What a relief and joy that must be for you and DH!!! That wall climbing sounds like a great change! Thanks for the review of STS TB. I agree - not bad at all for an endurance style workout but nothing that will replace my heavy lifting.

Tracy - Welcome back !!! Of course we expect you to preview them :D! AND to let us know what you think once you've done them :p. We have high expectations around this place  ;)!

Well, I attempted to do the step portion of Intensity this morning. Duh, I cannot do cardio in the morning. Especially an unfamiliar one. And not step after doing endurance legs the day before. I got about 1/2 way and my body said "no more." So I previewed the rest, did the stretch and called it a morning. I probably would have been better off to try the HIIT lo instead. But it even looked killer on the legs.

Rhea - All 4 of the new workouts had a strong emphasis on legs as far as I'm concerned ;). Maybe the next time you should pick an upper body premix when your legs are already fried :p. Just have all your dumbbells around you and you'll be good to go :D.

Thank you very much Lita! Just another day for me, trying not to get too much work done here. LOL

Well, *I* give you permission to play as much as you want today, Rhea :D :p!!!! Aren't you and DH doing anything special to celebrate :(? Or is it a ho-hum kinda thing after all these years ????

Actually the anniversary tok a back seat this year. First I had a hair appt to cover all the grays at 1 pm. Then at 3 pm, absolutely immediately after I was done was the swearing in our our new judge (female! One of my colleagues). Then the reception afterward for her where I had three people ell me something very interesting which I'll get to in a minute. Then I got home about 4:30 and did Turbo Fire 45, finished that took shower, wrapped a present, made a quick protein drink and went to the granchildrens birthday party at the pizza factory.

Okay the interesting thing which I can tell you since nobody lives here but me, lol. First one of the board of supervisors who I know pretty well told me that a couple of the supervisors have taken notice of the "lack of support" shall we say from my boss. Then the d.a. Told me I was going to get a letter from the grand jury (basically a summons) that will state they want to talk to me about the juvenile case loads, but be prepared to talk about office stuff. Then a guy I know, but haven't seen for a while, who I found out is on the grand jury, told me the same thing with a little more detail on the type of information they may be asking. Hmm, interesting huh? Things are finally starting to "come around". Gotta love that karma!

Rhea, very interesting work news. It will be interesting to find out what happens at the meeting! And happy belated anniversary!

OK, so everyone here is getting sick. My mom and brother got hit very hard. DH has a head cold that he seems to be keeping under control. DS has a fever, he probably won't go to school tomorrow. I feel like I'm on the verge of something. taking it easy on myself, lots of vitamins, rest, yoga. I think the yoga helps. The movement helps keep that lymphatic system moving! I have to go to RI the week of Dec 14 for the annual company meeting. I do not want to be sick!

Yesterday I did Core Cardio workout from that last series we bought. I had only done it once. OK, some of that core stuff is rediculous!!! I did big modifications and made it through.

Today I tried a new workout. Crunch: Super Slim Down with yoga and pilates. It is on Netflix as a play it now. I highly recommend it. There was some moves I've never done. It is all doable with the right intensity. I'd say medium intensity. If you are looking for an active yoga/pilates/stretch workout, that doesn't have any weird positions, give this a try for sure. I think I may buy it, I wrote it down. For now it is on netflix and I can use it there on the computer.

Rhea - Very interesting indeed :D! Now I'm going to be hanging to find out the next part of the series :p!

Melinda - I hope you don't get too sick :(! Get well soon :)!

Had some coughing for a bit and got worried, but it stopped. Just feeling tired, but OK. I did workout, I pulled out Meso 3 from STS and am doing weight work. didn't know what else to do.

I need to get to bed early tonight. I'm tired

Hi babes! I'm tired too Melinda, and plan to hit the sack early! Glad you didn't get sick!!

Lita, I LOL when I read about the high expectations here--I will try hard not to let you down in my review of the new series! :D

Happy belated anniversary Rhea, whether it took a backseat or not this year!!! I am very intrigued about your the grand jury investigation--wow! I have not seen an employment matter handled that way before! I am pleased that someone has noticed the problem too. My office had a little intrigue a few months ago. The day our office manager came back from vacation, her back up was put on leave and her computer was seized. 6 weeks later, the investigation was complete and that employee never came back. But management won't say a word about what happened so that's frustrating! But I will admit I had no respect for this employee so it was likely karma.

Continuing the STS rotation from Oct. 2009. I'll let you know if it kills me. :) IMAX 2 today.

Have a great week!
