LOST...I'm just lost

Damn, damn, damn. I can tell it's going to be a slow year on this show. I want to know who Desmond is and I want to know about the numbers. There were so many commercials...it seemed like every five minutes.

But, sadly, I'm hooked on this show. I'll keep watching and grow more and more impatient x(

How bout you guys :)

Anybody have a clue?

Entertainment Tonight (I think) revealed some things they discovered:
They played Walt's message backwards (when he talks to Shannon in the forest) and he said "Push the button, any button's good" (whatever that means!)

The numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42) are also found on a mural inside the hatch (and the total of those numbers is also on the mural). And the shot that Desmond gives himself comes from a bottle that has the same numbers on (and the bald guy...why can't I remember is name?) typed in those same numbers to stop the countdown (of what, I don't know).

The man that died in the emergency room, when Jack saved his future wife, had the same last name as Shannon. Maybe her father?

It does seem that everytime we get a new "clue," it's not really a clue to anything, or at least doesn't help with understanding what's going on!

I think the underground bunker is some military thing, and the island is a military experiment of some sort. They unleashed some kind of biological weapon that Rousseau's crew got ill from.

I have no idea what the creature is (a mutated form of the biological weapon? The weapon itself? )

I may be way off base!

And the others? I have no idea who they are or what they are doing on the island.

I don't see HOW this show is going to go on for 5 years (the writers have the basic outline figured out for the "first five years" according to the DVD commentary!)

I really like it, though!

I don't know how the show will go on either, but I am hooked. There did seem to be a lot of commercials. Also, the ending is basically the same as last week with the bunker. Melissa

Gosh it could be anything at this point, LOL. Some random thoughts:

- Walt is IMHO the obvious catalyst for everything. His "special" abilities, the polar bear theme running throughout the show etc.

- I think everyone will end up being connected in some way, sort of like 6 Degrees of Separation - or Kevin Bacon if you prefer. :p

- There are alot of of hospital connections: jack, michael, Kate, Locke, Hurley...

- quarantine is written inside the hatch, so my guess is that inside the hatch is the only safe place. There may be some biological entity outside -disease? Maybe there is really only one character alive and he/she has gone batty with some sort of infectious disease.

- I am *dying* to know the Desmond/Jack/island connection!!!

I agree that there are way too many commercials! Guess they have to pay a huge bill for all that hawaii location shooting! At any rate I'll continue to watch around the commericals partially because it's just so much fun, but mainly because the show continues to be a United Nations of Hot Men. DH says he won't watch with me anymore if I don't stop saying, "God, he's so hot" in reference to Jack. And Sawyer. Sayeed. Michael, too. Locke. Boone. Can't forget Jin...:p

This isn't about LOST, per se, but I've noticed all of the shows this fall are mostly commercial!! I thought maybe it was just me, but now I realize it's not. I watched the first episode of LOST, and noticed it. I watched the first episode of Desperate Housewives, and definitely noticed it!! And then I watched Commander in Chief and Medium... unbelievable... Truly.. every 6 minutes or so, you got more than that in commercials... It is starting to make me angry and enjoy the shows less. I need to get TIVO so I can actually enjoy myself when I'm watching TV.

BOOO on commercials. I taped the first episode of Lost for my daughter and I swear she watched the whole thing in less than 30 minutes, fast-forwarding past the commercials.

OOH! I was wondering about the 108 thing. Fascinating. I'm anxious to find out who The Others are and what they are up to and why they need Walt. And the Desmond/Jack connection. What do you think happened to Jack's wife, Sara? He does not wear a wedding ring.

I feel terrible for Michael.

And the format was very interesting where they go back in the same scene as last week but through a different character's perspective.

I love love love this show!!!

I just started watching this show. I tried to get on the website to read previous episodes but the writing in in red and the background is black - so I can't read it.

Is Desmond the guy that is inside the bunker with Jack,John, & Kate? Also, is he the guy that on last week's episode was at the track talking to Jack. Jack was running the stairs at the track thinking about the car accident girl being paralized if he didn't fix her. He hurt is ankle and then sat down and that's when this guy showed up. I thought maybe that was the same guy because when Jack see's his face in the bunker he says "You" and shakes his head.

MAN I'M CONFUSED.

Also, did anyone watch Invasion right after Lost? I'm liking this show too. Note: I think the sheriff is an alien in disquise.

Kimbra -

Yes, the guy in the bunker is the same guy that Jack chats with when he hurts his ankle running steps at the stadium. Blows your mind, doesn't it?!?! He must have had something to do with Sara's miraculous healing.

Angie

Kimbra,

>Is Desmond the guy that is inside the bunker with Jack,John, &
>Kate?

Yes, this is Desmond. And yes, he's the one who was running the stairs along with Jack. How crazy is this??? I had to re-watch the first episode last night to see if I picked up some new clues. This is when I noticed the number on the mural that Kathryn already pointed out. This show is really interesting!

The commercials are annoying! I waited and recorded it on Tivo last night because I was getting irritated - it WAS about 30 mins minus the commercials.

108 is the sum of the numbers that keep coming up. I saw the thing on ET about what Walt was saying backwards, it was, "Don't press the button, the button's no good" then they flashed to when Jack is in the hatch and he almost presses the button on the keyboard but the other guy says "I wouldn't do that if I were you."

I love this show but I'm hoping that it's not something really dumb at the end, like they're all in pergatory or something, that would be such a let-down.

Wow, just reading what all of you have put together helps me out a lot! I was wondering how anybody even knew that Walt was talking backwards. I could barely hear him. And it was over so quickly! Yowsa!
I said last night to DH, "Why can't everyday be wednesday? That way we can just keep watching Lost and know what's happening?!" LOL!

Kathy

Did anyone notices when Michael had a flash back to his last visit with his son he pulled out a white bear?? Last season Walt was reading comic books with a white bear on the cover! Wasn't the "thing" in the woods a white polar bear?

I dunno....maybe I'm just grasping at straws here?!?!? But we've been hooked since last season.:D

Editted for typos!

And.....what about that song, "Play your own kind of music, sing your own special song". Is that Mama Cass. I can't remember. And what would be the significance of that, if any.

The "others" sort of looked like they were the walking dead, didn't they". And, Ethan did look sort of sick. Desmond was surprised to hear there were people aside from the others that were still alive.

They wanted the baby for something, too. Wonder what?

a couple observations on my part....

Did you notice how fast Desmond was running when he was running the stadium steps? It was almost superhuman. Makes me think that Desmond has some superhuman serum he's injecting? Also makes me wonder about Kate eating that candy bar she found before escaping that underground room. I wonder if it will affect her somehow?

Also when Desmond was running the steps did you notice he had a shirt on with the same emblem you see all over in the underground chamber?

Do you also wonder why Jack's patient with the spinal injury had such a miraculous recovery? Do you think Desmond had anything to do with that? Did you notice when Desmond asked Jack about why he was upset about a patient that Desmond referred to the patient as 'her' even though Jack didn't say whether the patient was a male or female.

Then he tells Jack 'see you in a next life'. Whew.

THIS SHOW DRIVES ME CRAZY!!

there are several message boards dedicated to Lost, I found myself on one a couple weeks ago... I ended up reading it for HOURS!! The spoilers and possibilities are *crazy*!!

*sidebar Kathryn*: according to everything I've read on the boards...Walt says, "Don't push the button! Button is Bad!" So I wonder who is right!!I know on the boards for Lost, they have the actual clip that you can listen to.

here are a few boards I like to visit:

I don't understand this show, but then I don't understand a lot of shows. I think by the time I get home at night my brain is so fried that anything more complicated than Will & Grace just doesn't register. I can't seem to follow Curb Your Enthusiasm or Arrested Development or any other of the shows that people recommend to me. I get "So You Think You Can Dance" though. That's about my speed.
