Losing 10 pounds with a smile Wed Nov 7

Are we all smiling today? It's Wednesday and the weekend is getting closer and closer. I hope we are all avoiding the scale too (TK?)

I have a haircut/color appointment after work and plan on hitting the grocery store after that, so I'll be getting home late. I'm hoping I'll still have the drive and desire to do a workout and not fall off the healthy eating wagon that I've been riding.

See you all later!

Hi Robin. There may be a tentative smile on my face. We'll see how long it lasts ;)

I'm doing the 4DS KC/BC Cardio mix today. I'm also doing the daily challenge of no junk food. I'm actually going to try to keep that one going until Friday. I'm going away this weekend with Sophie and my sister and I'm pretty sure there will be some unclean eating going on (can you say Cheesecake Factory?).

Hey girlfriends!

Yup I am right there with ya this week. This sharing of good vibes is helpful. I have had two good days so far.

We have a family wedding this weekend and 11 house guests. DD age 22 is planning a big after party here on Saturday. On Friday we will have open house as our guests arrive. I think I'll need to have a water glass in had at all times! And a big veggie tray, yes definitely a VERY big veggie tray. In the mean time a few more days of good choices are in order!

I'm out of time to post my menu just now.

TTFN friends!

Good morning melters!

No time for personals again ;( . I have to dash off for an out of town appointment. I made a large pot of lentil soup sufficient to eat the rest of this week. Shelley, I'm joining you in the no junk food challenge for the rest of the week. DH and I will be celebrating our 23rd anniversary this Saturday and we intend to splurge at one of our favorite restaurants.

I did back and chest form the 4DS last night and LOVED it!! I did a 30 min walking workout for the cardio portion. What can I say -- I'm a step weenie ;)

Hi everybody. This is the first chance I have had to check in for this week. I am on the road in Mississippi. It is tough on the road for me to stay focused. I am usually working early and late have very little free time for excercise and food on the road is always tough. Especially when I am traveling with a group like this week.

Anyway I am trying to make the best of it and will get back on track Friday when I get home.

I have gotten in some time on an elliptical at the hotel and a yoga video I brought.

I better get going.

Cari

I have a smile on my face! :D

I did PUB this morning and my arms are fried. I hadn't done a workout like that in a while since last month I was doing circuits and cardio.

Anyway, very proud of myself since I did very good yesterday in the eating department! I also got some cardio in when I got home..

Keep up the good work, Ladies, and I'll be joining in on the no junk food for the rest of the week, as well!

Ah man--I have to smile, too? Dang.

I used to always have people telling me to "Smile!" and it drove me nuts. I was not going around frowning (or at least didn't intend to) and I found it annoying when random people (especially if I hardly knew them) would demand that I smile. If there was a sure way to make me actually frown it was by trying to boss me into smiling. I think my mouth just has a natural turndown and when I'm thinking (which is all the time, of course) my blank face looks less than joyous. I'm not saying you were obnoxiously demanding a smile, though Robin. You only asked if we were smiling, so that's fine--it just made me think of this past annoyance. I also don't think anyone's said it to me lately--maybe because I'm too old to be bossed around or maybe because I'm tougher and they can tell I'd bite their head off.

OK, anywho.... I had planned to go shopping today while my littlest one is in nursery school, but I just don't feel like it. How weird is that? I usually love to shop, but once in a while I just don't feel like getting out there and shopping if it's not 100% necessary. I'm sure my DH is happy that I get in these non-shopping moods. November is a terrible time to be not in the mood, though.

You'll notice I'm avoiding the actual weight loss topic here. I was still not good yesterday. I need a swift kick in the heinie. I did have a decent workout--did the Chest, Bi's & Tri's split from Slo-Mo Strength Challenge, plus the Core section. I only feel it in the chest, though, so maybe I should have lifted heavier. Today I think I'll try KCM's new Step-Boxing workout.

Good news--ankle is feeling much better--hardly bothered me at all during Monday's step aerobics and tomorrow I hope to try lunges when I do a legs workout.

OK, I'll come back later for personals because this is getting so long no one will read it.

Shelley, I often feel that you are a kindred spirit. So if you are going to do the no junk food, I will do it as well (gotta psych myself into this stuff somehow).

Judy, good luck preparing for the visitors. I have a feeling you're going to be pretty tired next week! Or maybe that's just because I'm an introvert and people wear me out--might not be the case for you.

Michele, you've been married 23 years--wow! I had pictured you in my mind as being younger than I am (don't know why) but you must be a tad older to be married that long (no, I'm not asking your age, just saying you have a young internet voice).

Cari, good luck with all the traveling. Is it a work trip?

Good job, B, on the good eating and doing PUB. I love that one.

OK, done yakkin' for now.

Morning gals. I was good and stayed off the scale this morning. Yay me. Today was a scheduled rest day so I got to sleep in a little. Doing mid-week rest days is kind of new to me. It's funny that I got more sleep but without the workout this morning I feel more tired.

Since we're watching our food intake, I thought I'd share a funny website about old Weight Watchers recipes. I'm sure many of you have seen it before but it still makes me giggle every time.

Lainie: All my life people have told me to smile. Yes, it gets on my nerves too. A person telling me to smile usually gets the opposite.
Michele: I did 4DS chest and back yesterday. I did the 'weights first' premix so I'd be more awake for the step routine. Been loving the premixes!
Cari: It's soo hard to travel and keep on top of an eating/workout routine. Hang in there!
Judy: Eleven guests? I couldn't even imagine! Just make sure when they leave they all take food items home with them. The leftovers from parties can be too tempting.
TTOM girls: hope you're over the worst and getting back to normal. Buh-bye bloat!

HI Again!

Michelle- Just think the no junk food is worth it for an anniversay dinner! Happy 23 years. We are coming up on ahemm ( Lanie will think I am really old now) 24 years in December. Really, Lanie I was a 23 year young bride.

Today's menu as promised:

B: blueberry/tofu/yogurt smoothie (kinda thick but tasty)
L:left over vegetarian Italian Wedding Soup
S: ( at different times through out the day) sliced carrots, apple, and a cappuccino
D: Barley Mushroom Risotto made in crock pot, LARGE mixed green salad toped with Edamame and Italian vinaigrette .

Today's workout was a 4 mile run. I am bagging the weight work for today. I have too much to do before 1:30 today.

:7 :7 Cheese!

A big high five to everyone today, sounds like you all are busy, busy. Welcome to my world with all the guests! Isn't it fun?x( Our guests are usually always business, so its all about feeding them like a restaurant would and creating a "work atmosphere" here in the house. Sometimes I wish we would not have moved from SLC(where the business is)and still went into the office everyday, now, the office comes to us and I have to feed it!:D

Anyway, yesterday was pretty good, I avoided the sugar, the exception being the whipped cream on top of the coffee (hey, its got 15 calories per tablespoon!) My bloaty thing is almost gone, tomorrow should be a "skinny" day for me at last.

I purchased the "Magic Bullet"yesterday-doesn't that sound like a personal pleasure device? And it came with these awesome looking "adult drinks". You know, the margaritas, bellini's, etc....sigh. I will make my AM shake and call it a day, I am still all about the herbal tea, the adult drinks will have to wait until my "love chunks" start shrinking!
:7

I am doing the Slim Series "Tear It Up" or whatever today. ZZzzzz...need some more coffee before attempting this. Have a wonderful hump day everyone, many happy thoughts to all of you!

SMACK!! That was for you Lanie, I just kicked you in your arse.:)

>I purchased the "Magic Bullet"yesterday-doesn't that sound like a personal pleasure device?

LMAO, Tneah!! My eyes popped open when I saw that and I thought "wow, what a sharing bunch we are!"...

I'm still laughing...! :D

Tneah, for years I knew the term 'magic bullet' as another name for a hemmorhoid suppository. LOL As to the 'newer' magic bullet, I watched the infomercial for it just the other day. I was very tempted to buy one myself, but for the price they were going to send out two of them. I just want one. Did you buy yours in a store or off the informercial?

Good Morning All!

Yes I have a smile on my face - because I'm drinking caffeine! :) he he! I decided to go ahead and have the one drink in the morning - it is much better than the headache I had yesterday! Thanks for all the advice about water -- I'm going to work on drinking more!!

I got up early and did Supersets. I've heard that Supersets and Push/Pull are supposed to be Cathe's easier weight workouts -- but I LOVE them both!! :)

I'm thrilled that I've worked out every day this week -- however, this has caused my appetite to be HUGE!! I'm so glad I don't have to step on the scale for a few more days!

Did someone say "Cheesecake Factory"??? That's my favorite!!! Enjoy!

Michelle
P.S. I'm so thrilled to be a part of this check-in -- this is really keeping me going!!

I just have to let you all know that DH and I celebrated 30 years this past May.

Lanie, I liked the idea of "a young internet voice"

Yeah to Robin and her DH!!!:) :) What an accomplishment-seriously. I can only hope for the same marital success.:7

TK, I bought my "Bullet" at Target yesterday, used it this AM and I am in love! It is so handy, you do not have to lug out this big ole' mixer and cleanup is a cinch. You can even blend your drinks in the cups they provide. Very cool. Get one.

I actually blushed when I asked the guy at Target if they carried the "Magic Bullet". Guess I have a one-track mind sometimes-hey, I am in my 40's, thats when it just starts to get really good!}(

>Michele, you've been married 23 years--wow! I had pictured you in my mind as being younger than I am (don't know why) but you must be a tad older to be married that long (no, I'm not asking your age, just saying you have a young internet voice).

Ha!! I'm so glad I come across as "young". You did mean young, right...as opposed to immature :7 . I know you didn't ask but I'll tell you anyway -- I'm 52 years young.

Thank you all for the anniversary well wishes. I'm so looking forward to a night out with my darlin' DH :*

I'm really proud of how well I'm doing with the various challenges. I haven't eaten this clean for this many consecutive days in MONTHS, and I'm getting a lot of mileage out of that lentil soup (sorry tneah -- although lentil loaf would be truly disgusting, lentil soup is :9 :7 )

I'm a little bit afraid to weigh myself now. I'll be so disappointed if my diligence isn't rewarded by the almighty scale ;(

I actually have a magic bullet. My kids are always asking me to make them slushies which are really good. And it is actually really easy to clean. I love it.

Lainie: Yes a work trip. Fun Fun. Glad your ankle is feeling good.
tneah: Yeah for your skinny day tomorrow.
Michelle: Good job on the workout consistency. I have the same thing when I get some really hardcore workouts going for some days in a row with getting really hungry. I never know if I should eat the same or go ahead and eat more. I usually eat more.

So this morning I was able to stick to some oatmeal and fruit completely skipping the still warm krispy kremes. Tonight I am headed to what I hear is a good steakhouse. This should be in my favor because I really don't like steak. I might get a run on the treatmill yet also.

Cari

LOL about the other ideas for the Magic Bullet . I have one and use it very often.

They are pretty inexpensive at BJ's club.
