OK, there are all the obvious, at least to me, choices. Jesus (I plan on meeting him, so crossed him off the list right away), Paul (ditto), Mary and on and on with the religious folk. Then there are the historical: Washington, Ben Franklin, Lincoln, Robert E Lee (I paused and thought hard here), Queen Elizabeth I, Mary Queen of Scots, FDR, Captain Cook. The politial choices: Nelson Mandela, Lec Walensa (spelling?), Martin Luther King. Literary figures? Hemmingway, Shakespeare, Jane Austin. Hmmm, the famous - Jimmy Buffett (high on the list of possibilites). Then there are the family members. My maternal grandmother, who died before I was born. My Aunt Susan, who my mother adored, my paternal grandmother (who I knew and loved), my paternal great grandfather who fled the genocide in Armenia. But I think I've narrowed it down to Anne Morrow Lindbergh. She lived an amazing life, wrote beautifully, and I think I would actually like her as a person. I'm sure I'll come up with about 50 more choices before the day is over, but, yeah, I think I'll stick with her.
