lifting heavy and periods

I've been lifting heavier than I ever did.
I also stopped the pill last october.
My periods were 26 days after stopping the pill, then 27 days and this month 24 days!
Now is it stopping the pill or because I am lifting so heavy? I really increased the amount I workout and the weights I lift (cardio too, more than I ever did). Is this the cause?
When I search on the net, athlete women tend to have no periods or delays, not earlier.
Just to see opinions from women working out
thx

I think you have to have really, insanely low bodyfat for your periods to stop. I would think its from stopping the pill. The pill forces you to be regular. Your body may just be trying to get back in the swing of things. Maybe that is just your natural way. My cycle in pretty predictable (no hormonal bc for me, either) but I can swing a day or 2 or either side as well. I don't think it has anything to do with the weights.

Just my .02

I was wondering the same thing..

Funny that you brought this up. I'm 30 and haven't been on bc for 8 yrs probably, anyway the last yr my periods have started to be more and more irregular. At first they'd randomly be a week late but recently they've been coming every 2 weeks. I just went to the gyn this morning and they are running test so I don't know yet why but the dr insinuated it was becuase of my weight and body fat being low. I do have very low weight but beside my 2 pregnancies I've weighed the same since highschool. Like you said, I always thought that athletes periods stopped instead of coming more frequent, he said that it can go either way.

thx

Anyone elase experience that?
My fat is DEFENITLY not too low! I've gain 15 pounds and I need to loose them and that's why I am working out fast. When I was at my ideal weight and I loves my body, I think my fat% was around 22... I think

I know I was on the average. So now I am higher for sure. I just hate that my periods are all weird especially when I want to start having a baby :(

I think it's normal. I've never been on the pill, and my periods are never exactly X number of days apart. They are generally anywhere between 24-28 days no matter what kind of physical activity I do.
