Legs

What is the best Leg video? I am not really into stepping, I mostly want to tone up the leg/butt/thigh area. What is the best video to get for the money? Should I get a video dedicated only to the legs and do cardio on the other days or get an all around video like muscle max or something? Please help! I have been looking at these videos for ages and just don't know!
Thanks
Stephanie

I would suggest that you get the Kick, Punch, and Crunch/Legs and Glutes DVD. Not only do you get a killer leg workout that is adaptable to almost any intensity level, but you also get an amazing kick boxing workout that will improve your cardiovascular health and tone the butt/thighs/legs with all the kicking/jumping moves. This combo DVD also has many premixes that can either jack up or dial down the intensity/time involved and keep your workouts fresh. KPC will also help to tone the upper body while getting your cardio in--no step required. Cathe does use a 14" high step in Legs and Glutes, but you can substitute a sturdy stool or coffee table if you don't have any step.
Hope this helps,
Mattea

Thanks for the help Mattea!
I am new to Cathe! But it looks like she is the most popular on the internet! I have different videos and really like how I feel after doing Karen Voight videos but I was looking for something more advanced to get faster results! I want to work out the whole body but the butt down is what needs the most work of course! My abs are looking better but could still be better. I also am going on vacation in about 3 months so I want to get in better shape.
I haven't lifted more than a 5lb dumbell at this point. I have the Danskin (think it is called) barbell and I am up to 13lbs on it. So I am not advanced by any means but would to have a great workout and something I can work with. Although everyone talks about how important rotation is but I figure if I have a Cathe video and some cheap ones that should be o.k. for now. I will have to ask for some Cathe video's for Christmas eh!!!

Thanks again

I've never done Kathy Smith's video, but I'm guessing Cathe's is a little longer, keeps you working at a higher intensity level for a longer time, and is a much more flexible workout if you purchase the DVD because of all the premixes it contains.
Maybe someone else has done both and can give you more specifics.
Best,
Mattea

i have the Timesaver Legs & Glutes. is the timesaver L&G just as efficiant as a L&G vhs/dvd?

A couple of my favorite leg w/o's are Pure Strength Legs & Abs and HC Gym Style Legs. They both use the high step.

The timesaver DVD is just a section of the Legs & Glutes workout. The Timesaver DVD is a compilation of different workouts from the Body Blast series (with a few bonus sections found only on the Timesaver). IMHO, it is a nice DVD to have if you only have about 45 minutes a day to workout and you don't own the Body Blast DVD's already. The Timesaver DVD was the very first Cathe workout I ever bought and it was a great introduction to her different workouts, however, I never use it anymore because I now own all the full Body Blast DVD's that the Timesaver is made up of. I kind of just hold on to it in case I may need a quick workout one day.

Well usually do cardio mixed with like 20 minutes or so of something else. I have never really done the LONG workouts :) Or divide them up into days. It is hard to find the time or motivation to do them... a lot is time. I only have the evening and I don't have time or don't want to spend my whole evening working out... and I don't even have kids yet! Gee!

KPC is much more advanced and challenging than Kathy Smith's Kickbox workout. I have both and after working out with Cathe for a few months, Kathy Smith's workouts don't even make me break a sweat. The intensity level is much higher in Cathe's workouts. Also, the premixes are a huge bonus - not many other fitness instructors offer the kind of features that Cathe's DVDs offer. You won't be disappointed if you purchase KPC/L&G - they are both excellent workouts.

Ditto - the actually kickboxing is almost twice as long as Kathy Smiths, not quite but close.

The Timesaver is basically set up to be around 30 minutes of cardio (mostly step) and then the remainder of the workout (about 15 minutes or so) is weight training for one body part. So, basically you are doing cardio and weight training one body part per day.
