KK's January Rotation

Author

Cathlete
Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

I read all your posts -- and then wished I'd been more on line over the weekend. But at least, here we are on January 1st -- starting a New Year.

Wow, isn't Cathe's rotation great? Jeanette & Natalie, I'm afraid I also don't have the time to do 90 minute rotations -- 60-75 minutes is about the most that I can do per day -- and even then, it's sometimes hard to get it all in -- so I'll do the rotation with some changes. Love her tip about adding 20 oz. extra water for every 60 minute workout -- in addition to the water we drink now. What a great idea.

Okay, so now down to the posts. What thread are you talking about? I've been so busy over the holidays that I haven't read much of the other threads here -- is it something about the new workouts? I do want to preorder them -- still haven't done it yet, but I sure do plan to.

Jeanette, you truly are an inspiration -- riding in the rain -- by the way, it's been raining like crazy here, too. Didn't do a workout today as it's my traditional day off -- but yesterday, I did Bootcamp and it kicked my butt -- must be out of shape, cause sometimes Bootcamp seems easy -- but it sure wasn't yesterday. Oh, and thanks for all your well wishes about my fall. It seemed odd to fall -- just don't do that very often. And I'm doing fine, knock on wood. I did go to my chiro, just to make sure everything was in order and the chiro said things were fine -- nothing major -- she also said that it looked like completing the workout and continuing running might have straightened things out all on its own. So that's cool. I think you're right -- being in shape makes a difference -- I know that the sore throat was only a 2 day affair -- of course, my hubby was stuffing me full of natural stuff -- but still, it was only a 2 days affair.

I, too, love the music from the Blast Series and the Intensity Series -- also I like the music in Body Max and also HSC. The other workouts in the Hardcore series are so tough, that I barely notice the music.:+

Jeanie -- loved your comment about "spongebob butt." What does that mean, by the way? That one's butt beefs up like a sponge soaking up water? Whatever it means, you made me laugh. Actually I like the leg presses, but I never do them with much weight -- since I'm older, I always figure I have to work up to these things very gradually -- and I've just never done them with weight over 5 lbs -- I wonder if that makes a difference?

Natalie -- we love you, too. What a sweet thing to say -- really made me feel good. Please keep us informed about your workouts. Oh, and how's the rotator cuff doing?

Hope you really enjoyed having your mother there. What a treat -- the holidays are so good for that.

Well, I'm going to go over my rotation for next week -- I'm going to be going to Florida this next week -- will be there for a few weeks -- some R & R -- then I'll slip up north to see my daughter on the East coast and then home. But I'm taking my computer and I'm not on tour and under a terrific schedule so I plan to workout and check in just like usual -- I even have a card for the computer now so that I can plug in while on the road. We're driving.

So, starting tomorrow, I'll be getting ready to go to Florida and will be busy getting everything done work wise and packing and stuff -- so here's what I plan -- and then I'm going to concentrate more fully on Cathe's rotation -- goodness knows I need it...

Monday: IMAX2 -- just cause I love it.

Tuesday: Up early to get things together for the road, so workout may be short -- plan on cardio from BodyMax or maybe KPC and stretch before I hit the open road

Wednesday: Will be on the road -- plan on Pyramid Upper Body -- just up if I'm short on time -- and a short cardio -- probably running outside

Thursday: Will still be on the road -- plan on either Pyramid Lower Body or Legs & Glutes

Friday: Sprint 8 outside

Saturday: Bootcamp

Sunday: Off -- but if still on the road, will do a walk outside

Oh, Jeanette, thanks for telling me the time on the KPC cardio -- that really helps.

Okay, long post, huh? Sorry. Have a wonderful day -- many of you may be off tomorrow, as well. Have a simply wonderful start of the New Year and terrific workouts.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

So good to hear from you Karen, know you must have had a busy weekend and now getting ready for a long trip. Bet you are excited to go back east for the R&R and seeing your daughter. Don't think I've ever had a vacation longer than a week. Sounds like you have it all under control to keep up with the workouts. Your rotation looks very good and I smiled when I saw Imax2 and Pyramid Upper Body. Those are both my favorites for now.

I'm doing a modified January Cathe rotation, but this week will try to stick with her rotation as I don't go to work until 8:00 (holiday week) so can do a longer workout. It was kind of tough today, my legs were tired from pedaling with soaked booties yesterday but I did Bootcamp and then the 1st 5 intervals of Imax2. Hardest workout I've had for a while. Guess my body is used to 1 hour workouts so this will stretch me some. I will also try to get in some more stretching/yoga during the day if I have time. I plan on doing some work here in the house, will start digging into this messy computer room, get rid of the bunk bed, old pictures, etc. It's my next big project.

I weighed myself today and wasn't too disappointed, as I haven't been eating very cleanly lately, but I really want to lose a couple of pounds during this rotation. I'm also boosting the water as it REALLY helps me with the water rentention.

Must get going now. Good workouts to all. Tomorrow I go back to work. This rain stuff is getting old but should let up soon.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Jeanie & Natalie!:)

Am logging on earlier today, as the day may be a very busy one. You know, Bootcamp all by itself is a tough workout for me, let alone try to put in the first five intervals from IMAX2 -- but I can see that it would really toughen you up. Wish I had time to give it a try, but I must get down to business...

Sounds like a great workout. Oh, I bet the yoga and stretching will really be appreciated today, huh?

I, too, am coming to love the Pyramids -- particularly Pyramid Upper Body -- and I'm starting to like breaking up the weight work into two days instead of trying to cram it all in in one day. I'm a little leary of just doing weight work, however, since I have a few pounds (3) to lose. But I'm not really fretting over it. I'll just keep at it until they come off.

It was IMAX2 for me today -- one of my favorite workouts -- it was tough for me, and I'm not sure if that's because I was sick earlier this week and the body is still recovering (although I certainly don't feel sick) -- but I'll just keep at it -- I've learned that the body eventually gets back on track if one keeps at it and doesn't push too hard at first.

Sounds like a great week for you, Jeanette -- have fun in the shortened hours.

Well, I must run, have many things to do -- work to be done, etc before I head out of town -- very much to do.

Great workouts everyone and have a terrific day.:7

Hi Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

Don't have much time right now as I did Lowmax and CTX Kickbox (90 min). Good workout and didn't tire me out too much.

I got this messy spare room cleaned up yesterday, stuff thrown away, bunk bed moved, etc. Now to get my DH to texture one wall that used to have wallpaper on it. I'll then paint and get some blinds for it and it'll be pretty much set. It's been neglected for far too long.

Hope everyone has a good workout today. It's back to work (8 hour days this week) for me.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Sounds like a terrific workout. Wish I could get in the extra time, but I'm having trouble just getting in my 60 minutes. It was a run outside today -- with warm up and cool down -- it was 35 minutes and then a 20 minute stretch -- love those stretches.

Am getting things ready to go to Florida -- mostly trying to get work things done -- promo for the new book out in April. Lots to do.

Sounds like you have many projects at home, as well, Jeanette -- always a good feeling to get a messy room cleaned up.

I'm a little low on time right now, too, so I'm going to sign off for the evening and get a little more work done -- and then to bed.

Happy workouts everyone! :7

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

It was Spinervals "Lean & Mean" for me today as I have to get my bike interval workout in during the week and I plan on riding on Saturday with the faster riders (hope I don't get dropped) so didn't want to do a bike workout too close to the ride. Also, I needed a break from impact so it just worked out good. I do notice that my heart rate is dropping quickly during the recovery phases of these workouts so that's a good thing. I've read too that it's harder to get the heart rate up there as your heart gets more efficient at pumping the blood, thus you can go faster on the bike without getting so winded. That's what I'm after.

Karen, you're right, I do have many projects that I should be doing, I just choose to have fun and work out also so those projects don't get prioritized as high as others would see to do. I'd like to do a little more faux painting in this computer room, just for fun. And if it doesn't look that great, well, it's just a computer room. And if it's really hideous, I'll just paint over it. Still thinking about colors and technique.

Have a haircut after work today, which is badly needed. Have to face the coughing in the office today again, many people sick. The girl that's been coughing for the past 3 weeks finally went to the dr. She has bronchitis, and almost to pneumonia so is on some antibiotics, but still at work and still coughing...So far so good myslf. I remain positive and keep drinking lots of water, a dose of Zicam when I feel scratchiness or achiness and so far, I've dodged the bullet.

Must sign off now. Great workouts and Natalie, are you doing the January rotation?

Jeanette

My goodness, I was so busy yesterday, I didn't even get to read or post.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful new year.

Jeanie - I hadn't heard that "spongebob butt" comment or even know what it really means either. Hmm, I haven't had that much of a change in the rear from those exercises. Of course, they aren't done that consistently by themselves, so who knows. I'm awaiting my TLTs too.

Jeanette - I sure hope you keep dodging the bullet for those colds. I've been doing the same thing. I've really got to get more water in me though, too much caffeine lately.

Karen - Hope you get back up to full speed soon. I had the same trouble with Boot Camp yesterday. Some of the planks and shoulder stuff I just didn't have the endurance for(let's not even talk about those terminators!)

I'm going to sort of do the January rotation. I didn't see it until yesterday, so I started yesterday with the Boot Camp and the I2 1-5. Wore me out. But actually it felt pretty good. Took about 1/2-3/4 of the Boot Camp to get my endorfins going.

Well, I have a really busy next two months here at work, so I'll be reading, but probably not posting too much. Have a great day everyone!

Hi ladies!

Can't believe you all haven't heard of the Spongebob Butt! It's when you get a kind of "shelf" on the back of your butt/hip area. A lot of women claim they get SBB from doing too many leg presses.

Rhea, my TLT's are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Some people already got them and are gushing over them! I can hardly wait!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well and is starting off the New Year's well!

Love,

Jeanie

:7 You go with that bubble-butt Rhea! Mine is more the wide, square type (aka Spongebob Squarepants Butt). I'd trade you any day!!!!!

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Jeanie & Natalie!:)

Am posting quite late as it's been a terrifically busy day -- always alot of promo work to do when a book is due to come out -- and I'm leaving hopefully on Friday, so just lots to do.

Rhea & Jeanie -- you really had me laughing outloud:p -- Ah, so that's what a spongbob butt is -- goodness. And a square butt -- don't think so Jeanie -- you look good in those pictures -- I didn't see a square butt.

Rhea -- busy is good -- and goodness knows we've all had some stretches of that and the attendant stresses and no time..., etc. So, I know we do understand -- but do keep us updated from time to time, okay? Really glad you're able to do the January rotation.

Yeah, Bootcamp really kicked me in the (*&^ -- that's for sure -- and you went ahead and tacked on the first 5 intervals -- wow!

Jeanie -- it's great to see you here -- hope your TLT's will bring much pleasure and great workouts. You'll let us know, right?

Jeanette -- I'm so glad that you posted that about the heart rate -- I had sort of thought or read somewhere that the more fit a person was, the harder it was to get the heart rate up there -- and I think it's great that it drops more quickly on recovery -- all good things -- yes, when I'm in good shape and not ill or anything, I've noticed that my recovery rate keeps getting better and better. What I think I need to work on is endurance -- but I'm thinking that this is getting better, too.

Hope you can keep away from whatever "bug" is going around. You know, in the old days, the theory was that the greater the immune system, the greater the body was able to withstand bugs -- thus, it wasn't that there were bugs around to catch, but rather the overall health of the person and his immune system that kept him from getting illnesses. Have been reading lots and lots lately about the history of diets and foods and studies of long-lived people (can't spell the word) -- and different theories about diets and staying healthy. I find it all so fascinating and interesting. So the fact that you're healthy and workout so much and such should hopefully protect you from all that coughing, Jeanette -- at least it's my hope that it will. Colostrum is also a natural immune booster, as well, if you're interested. (Colostrum is a mammal's first milk given to her young -- it's filled with all kinds of immune boosting properties.)

Well, it's very, very late. I was up late working and so I must go. Hope you haircut is great, Jeanette. (I let my DH trim a bit of mine the other day since I didn't have time to go to the hairdresser -- my DH can do this really well.)

Oh, and have fun on your projects.

One more thing: did a 90 minute workout today -- Pyramid Upper Body -- the entire workout and a 20 minute run with cool down and stretch.

Plan Pyramid Lower Body tomorrow -- won't have time for a run -- but I think my day will most likely be spent running from place to place anyway.

Have some great workouts everyone and a terrific day.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

It was HSC and 1st half of MIC (up to the high impact stuff) for me, full 90 minutes whew! I'm feeling it today! Just didn't feel like te high impact stuff, so modified it in HSC. Just can't see any point in jarring these joints of mine. Tomorrow, I may do Rhythmic Step (steady state cardio) instead of Imax3 (which I don't own, nor want). I have a bike ride on Saturday and don't want all the interval work. Just listening to my body. Right now, I think when I get off work, I'll pop in a yoga video for about 1/2 hour. Need the stretch and didn't have time this morning.

Karen, wow, PUB and a run too! Whoohoo!!! Tomorrow you leave for your trip, I'm hoping you can still check in, we'd all miss you so much if you couldn't. We missed you while you were on tour in the Fall. Hope you get lots done today.

Spongebob, hmmm. Haven't watched that one on TV, guess I'll have to look someday to see what I don't want to get. Have been doing more high step workouts lately it seems so hope that will help lift the rear end.

Got my hair cut yesterday. Looks fine. My hairdresser, along with every other one in the shop is focusing on better eating and exercise. I tried to encourage her to look at it as a new way of life. Hope she sticks with it.

Must get going, love hearing from everybody. Encourages me so much.

Jeanette

Okay, fast post.....did only Low Max yesterday. Ran out of time. (actually don't know if I would have had enough energy either to do more) Didn't really want to end up eating at 8:00 at night, even though it was pretty close to that when we finally did. Today is the first of of IMAX 1 and the last half of MIC. I have to figure out what the second "half" of MIC is.

Have a great day, I'm off and running!

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Thank you so much, Jeanette, for saying that you'd miss me. I do plan to keep posting -- I am taking my computer and I'm better equipped this time, I think. I have a high-speed card so hopefully, I can connect to the internet at night and keep in touch. Once I'm in Florida it won't be a problem.

Well, it has been one incredibly busy day -- I almost didn't get in a workout, but at 3:30 decided that I could do 45 minutes of Pyramid Lower Body -- so I did and I'm so glad I did.

Once again, I'm up terribly late -- this time paying January bills so I don't have to worry about that -- usually I just pay them a few days before the due date, but I'm paying everything now and it's quite a chore -- that and getting my start-of-the-year files updated. Whew! But the good news is that I got the promo stuff done and so won't have to worry about that...knock on wood.

Jeanette, I understand about not wanting to jar those joints -- cycling is such a good low impact way of exercising. I'm so used to pounding the pavement and doing those IMAX's that my body doesn't seem to object too much -- except for my left knee -- I always wear something on it when I do step or lower body. I think you are really wise to listen to your body -- am really glad that you are -- even Cathe says on her workouts that you have to do that -- it helps prevent injury, I think.

Rhea -- gotta really applaud you for getting that workout in so late. I'm impressed. You sound so busy, too, so that's even doubly impressive.

You know, Jeanette, I really like the leg presses. My little rear end was drooping and the leg presses have raised it up -- not to bubble butt -- but just enough that it isn't slouching anymore -- I hear so many different viewpoints on the leg presses -- again, I guess it's really individual.

Actually I think it's great that alot of people you know are starting to think about diet and such. That's a good indicator, in my humble opinion.

Well, gotta get back to those bills -- it was nice to come here for a little relief. Hopefully, I'll get everything done and filed and in bed soon -- it's after midnight. Sigh...

Have a wonderful day and great workouts, everyone.:7

Hi Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

Rhea, good for you for getting that workout in even though it was getting late. I hate eating late and almost never do. Usually, I eat around 4:30 or 5:00 p.m. I really enjoyed the weather yesterday, wished I'd weren't at work, but riding my bike. Oh well, that wouldn't pay the bills.

Today was Rhythmic Step in full. I have a bike ride tomorrow and I don't want to be too tired for it so didn't do the Imax that was specified on the January rotation. I'm still fighting off getting a cold and I feel that effort. My legs are still a bit fatigued too. I did get in a Yoga Crunch tape yesterday when I got off work. Felt good to stretch, but it's hard to go to that relaxing place cuz the dogs want lots of attention when I get home. They are right in my face!!!

Karen, I do think the leg presses are effective too. Glad you like them. Wish I had a "little" butt. Never has been, maybe when I was 4 or 5. Karen, I'm so happy you'll be able to stay with us throughout your trip. I just love this little check in! Really good you got your promo stuff done. Doesn't that feel good?

Must go now,

Jeanette

Good morning! How are you feeling Jeanette? Hope that cold gets whipped completely.

Yeterday I decided to run home at lunch and do my workout instead of after work. I did the warm-up through 5 of IMAX and the added on Turbo Jam #2 instead of the second half of MIC. MIC's second half was all step and my legs needed a rest from step after three straight days. Of course, I'm pooped.

Karen, when do you leave for Florida? How long do you get to be there?

Well, have a great day everyone.

:)

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Am checking in early today as we plan to be on the road later today and I'm not sure what our schedule will be for the rest of the day. So here I go back on the road...

Rhea, my legs need a break from stepping now and again, too, particularly my right knee. So glad you got in the workout -- I got mine in this morning early cause I realize that today will be busy.

Did a Sprint 8 today -- about 40-45 minutes total with the warm up and cool down -- have so much to do -- still trying to pay all this month's bills -- usually I take them one at a time, so it's a bit much...x(

Anyway, Jeanette, sounds like you're really making things go right, despite that cold trying to get to you -- I'm sure you'll win the fight, however.

Made me laugh about the dogs -- I get a similar thing with my cats -- they watch me -- or drink the water I have on hand -- they're so cute -- but it's a shame that it sort of made the stretching not as pleasant -- hopefully that will change as they get used to your stretching.

Yes, it feels great to have the promo done -- now if I can get the other stuff done and pack and get going, this would be a good thing.

Well, have a wonderful day, everyone -- and great workouts.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

Today is supposed to be a bike ride at noon, but don't know if the weather will cooperate. Personally, tomorrow looks better for riding but the fast group goes on Saturdays so we'll see. If not today, then I'll ride tomorrow. Decided to do PUB up only premix (no abs) instead of the January rotation of Hardcore Extreme as of course I don't want to be too fatigued for the bike ride.

Rhea, it's great you can come home and put in a workout on your lunch hour. I too am stepped out for the week. My legs were feeling tired this week, something I haven't felt for a while, but guess the 90 min. workouts will have some effect, won't they?

Karen, stay safe while traveling, we're sure thinking of you. Hope you have good weather too. Are you driving the whole way back to Florida? Is your DH traveling with you too? Check in when you can.

Must go down and buy new snow tires this morning as I feel like I'm tiptoeing around in these. Not a good feeling. Also, made an appointment with an orthopedic dr. at Lake Tahoe for my DH's shoulder. He has a torn rotator cuff, bone spurs and arthritis in the shoulder. Causes him much discomfort and it's time to have it taken care of as he still needs to put in another 5-6 years of physical labor before retiring. I'm kind of looking forward to the trips up to Tahoe (good weather of course), but really need the new snow tires with more grip.

Good workouts all

Jeanette:7

Hi all!
Today is a rest day for me!!! Going to do some housework and then take my nephew and grandson out geocaching. I'll get to stretch these tired legs and spend some quality time with the boys.

Here's a short recap of my bike ride (I posted it last night to the My Heart Rate thread in the Open Discussion last night). Most tired I've been in a long time. Believe me, this one kicked AZZ.

Today we (6 of us) did a 52 mile ride. It was very windy, tailwind out, had a flat tire, hit 33 mph on one flat stretch so knew it would be a bear coming back. And it was. I struggled with the last 1/4 of the ride, headwind, rainy, spitting snow, fatigued quads, you know the feeling. Checked my HR monitor and computer when I got back.

Total exercise time: 3 hrs. 31 minutes
Time In Zone: 1 hr. 29 minutes (believe me, most was done above my zone, set for 112/147)
Average HR: 145
Calories burned: 1,250 (30% from fat)
Now that's a calorie burn!!!

Cycling time: 3 hrs. 11 minutes
Distance: 52
Average speed: 16.5
Max. Speed: 33
Oh yeah, on this ride I stopped cuz I had to change a flat tire and happened to check my odometer, it was at 9999.7 miles. I've had this bike for 3 years. Now the odometer says 38. something.

On the Spinervals, I have to work pretty hard to get my heart rate up into the 150's, yet the first little hill we all stood and hammered to the top and my heart rate climbed up there near 160, but didn't feel that difficult at all. And yes, my resting heart rate is around 47. Just seems so much easier an effort on the road than on the trainer.

Anyhow, I'm off to get some cleaning done. Enjoy your Sunday.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!

Well, just checking in to say "hi." Jeanette -- you are incredible --a 52 mile bike ride -- 10,000 miles on that bike -- wow! You are definitely an inspiration. And look at all those calories you burned.

Sorry your DH is having so much trouble with his shoulder -- nice to have the up side of going to Tahoe.

We are on the road -- my DH is traveling with me, thank goodness and is doing most of the driving -- and we've been putting in quite a bit of time -- didn't get into a motel last night until 3 AM:eek: And tonight we didn't check in until midnight... But am still keeping in at least a semblance of workout -- DH and I went for a walk, easy jog this morning, so that's good. And we're eating good -- we're brought our own food and so don't have to eat at restaurants.

Am planning on doing some weight work tomorrow, if I can. If not, I'll just do what I can and jog for 20 minutes or so just to keep up the workouts -- my computer is in the trunk somewhere and the car is so heavily packed, that I don't think I could find it right now if I wanted to -- it's what I'll be using in Florida to work out to.

Gee, Jeanette, again, I am so impressed. Could you lend me some of those burnt calories (wouldn't it be good if it could work that way)?

Anyway, have a good one. And terrific workouts everyone.
