Jogglers September 2013

Yesterday I did my MMA boxing/shred it with weights mosh up. Today will have to be step because its raining!!! Yippeee!!!! It won't burn now!:D:D:D:D

Real honest to goodness, cool, rain, a balmy 59 deg. F!!! No more burning for me!!

Meditation this morning, a ton of paper work, then Bodymax II cardio timesaver plus Solar Yoga.

Tricia- I am so sorry you forgot your keys. That would totally bum me out. I hope those people don't keep giving Stephen heart burn, he doesn't deserve it. I hate academics who want to just lord their power over you that way. Boo hiss on them.

Jane- I think your 10k is today, have a ton of fun out there.

Alisha

Thanks for the well wishes Alisha! It just seems sometimes we aren't meant to get anywhere easily!

Glad you got rain! Yippee! Enjoy the fall temps too! Wow! :)

Played golf yesterday and it felt so good! It made me so happy to be out there again and I didn't play terribly! It didn't bother my finger which is good. It's still pretty tight in the knuckle and I have a big knot on the side and if I bang it or hold something heavy, it hurts. I'm guessing it's just going to take time to get back to normal. Will be getting back to the workouts tomorrow. Really! Had big plans to do the September rotation, but now I'm thinking I'll just do what strikes me until the October one comes out and see if I like the looks of it better than September's.

Hi Jane! I hope you had a good race and good weather for it!

Well, it's back to the grind tomorrow. :(

Saturday was a rest day because I was sore. I did go for a hike with my Dad this morning. I worked on paper work all day. I will workout tomorrow.

Tricia- Aww, I know its back to the grind tomorrow :( I sorry:( I'm glad you were able to get out and enjoy your golf. I'm impressed that you could do it at all with the finger still in bad shape.

Jane- How was the race?

Alisha

Happy Monday!

Another weekend gone. Saturday was the 10K race. It was in the 70's with 100% humidity. It didn't bother me though or so I thought. I thought I was doing well but finished a couple of minutes shy of what I wanted to do. I think the humidity did me in. I can't get a 10K PR for anything. I'm doing another one in November so hopefully it will be cooler. I think the course is flat as well. My sister opted out of the 10K because she was sick all week and did the 5K instead. She managed to get 1st in her age group. I think this was the first "1st Place" that she got. My friend took 3rd in her age group. I missed out as I got 4th place.

After the race I went to mom's house and we planted a bunch of plants for her in the front of her house. It was exhausting. I did not get home until after 4pm.

Yesterday I ran a bit over 6 miles. It was suppose to be 10 but my legs hurt and I was tired. Then I hung out at home. It was a nice rainy Sunday. I also took a nap which is rare for me.

Alisha ~ Great job on the workouts this weekend. YIPPEE for rain!!!! We haven't had rain in a long time so it was most welcome in our parts as well. We are in the upper 80's but the mornings are getting cooler.

Tricia ~ Sorry about the keys and hubby's paper. That just sucks! I'm glad the finger is getting better and that you were able to play golf.

I am doing a leg workout tonight. I can really see a difference in doing the heavy leg workout once a week. It's either that or diet. My legs aren't as lumpy as they used to me.

Here's to a fast work week!!

Evening ladies!

Today went by fast! Thank goodness! Or not! lol  My icky boss gets back from China at the end of this week. :(

Alisha - At least you got in a nice hike!

Jane - Bleh! 10K races may just not be your thing. I like your idea to try in November though. Congrats to your sister getting 1st!

The finger is just weird. Saturday, I was able to touch my palm and today, I can't. It's just going to take time. At least I'm getting more use out of it even with some pain it's doable.

I signed up for 2 new Coursera classes:

The Upper Limb - studies the A&P of the arm and joints into great detail along with the injuries that occur. Looks really good!

The Nordic Diet - a shorter course on this method of eating. I don't know anything about it, but it sounded interesting.

I love these free online courses!

Have a great night! We are supposed to get down to about 41! Brrr!

I did Gary Bromley's Yoga Class today, 50 minutes of restorative style yoga. Tomorrow will probably be a hike in the AM followed by more yoga. I tried to do a mediation today, but, I think I fell asleep:p

I'm doing better about eating at home. I need to get back in the habit of counting calories again.

Its in the low 80s now. Unless we get an Indian summer, that may be all she wrote for summer heat. I like fall for running though, its great that way.

My project is going ok. I've recruited help from my Mom (she is a graphic artist by day), my brother (an intrepid IT man and data wrangler.) I don't think I could manage it all on my own. Yikes, its a lot of data. I hope I'm done by Nov. 1!!

Tricia- I hope that your finger feels much better soon. Your classes sound very interesting.

Jane- I honestly hate the humidity for running. When I lived in FL, my favorite time to run was late at night because otherwise it was just so oppressive. I think that the fact you ran your race and didn't just walk it is a major win in my book even though it wasn't technically a PR. I look forward to seeing what you can do in Nov. when its cooler and drier.

Alisha

Good Afternoon!

Here is tonight's workout. It looks like a fun one. My legs are sore from yesterday. I did 280 weighted squats and some deadlifts, calf raises and some some kicks.

Alisha ~ I'm sure you will get your project done in time. That's great that your family is helping out. The humidity can really zap your strength. I'm looking forward to November to crush it.

Tricia ~ Those courses sound interesting. You'll have to give us the info after you take them. I haven't given up on the 10K. The thing is that there are very few of them around here that are flat. I did one in January and one in April of this year and I came within seconds of both and within seconds of setting a new PR. The one in April has a couple of big hills and the one in January has just one steep hill that you really have to walk up. The good thing is that you get to run down it and that helps. Otherwise the course is flat. That was my best 10K time this year. We'll see what November brings.

Good morning and Happy Hump Day!

Alisha - Glad the weather is turning for you! We've been nice and cool at night and in the upper 60s during the day. I can handle that! Smart to recruit people to help you! That's what a wise person does! You'll have that project whooped in no time! I love how much yoga you do! I don't have much and I'm lucky to do one a week. Better than nothing!

Jane - I really like the looks of that workout! Fund and challenging!

Hope you get a great PR on the November 10K! Any race with hills is hard in my book! I'll let you know how my Coursera classes go! Those are all online. I'll fill you in once they get started. One of them was supposed to start this week, but they are finalizing it so it'll probably start late.

Went to the free Chinese class last night. It's more culture than language, but that's important to learn too. Looks like it could be fun!

No workouts yet. Now that I think I could do it, I can't get motivated. Working on getting that mojo stirred up again! I hate that part!

Have a great day ladies!

I did go for a hike yesterday by the wetlands. It was nice and cool, saw a lot of people walking dogs, running, and biking. Stopped at Wally World, bought some leggings and a tank top. Stopped at the grocery store, bought some pots/pans, my old ones were peeling and I don't actually want cancer, so they have to go.

I did some paper work, and then about 5:30, my cat came to the back door, scratched to be let in, I opened the door, and she ran in and hid under my desk. She never does that. Her right eye was swollen shut. I hollered for my brother. Then I called the vet, they were about to close, so Britt (my brother), Maria (the cat), and I went to the closest emergency room for pets which is about an hour away. Luckily, it was quiet, and they were able to see Maria right away. They gave her pain medicine, antibiotics, and investigated the eye to make sure she didn't have a foreign body (like fox tails) in the lid. She didn't. Our Vet was Dr. O'Connor and she was great. Only charged 296$ total. Very cheap. We have to give Maria antibiotic drops in her eye for a week and keep her in doors. That won't go over very will with Miss Little Tidy and Sharp Claws.

While we were waiting for Maria, we went to get something to eat. I got a roast beef salad without dressing at Subway. It was just fine. I felt righteous because I skipped the chips, soda, and cookies:cool:

I'm exhausted. I slept until 8 am. I never sleep that late. I have swollen glands under my chin. I blew up at my brother, I apologized, but I'm so embarrassed, I'm hardly ever grumpy:(:eek: I'm taking today as a rest day. I will workout tomorrow.

We are still up to our eyeballs with the project. I hope to get a four week extension.

Tricia- Any yoga at all makes a difference. Don't forget: motivation comes second, just start the workout. Motivation is over rated. Just set a quota and do it. Might just be 3x/week for 30 min. Taking a class in Chinese anything sounds like fun, but I would be especially fond of one on how to cook dim sum!

Jane-You and all those squats, my legs hurt in sympathy, just hearing about it!

Alisha

Oh Alisha! So sorry your kitty got into something! That is pretty cheap for a vet! I hope it clears up quickly!

We are going to a Gary Burton concert tomorrow night at UConn. He is a jazz vibrophonist. I'm getting off work at noon so I have plenty of time to have some lunch, let the pups out for a while, give them something to eat and drive to UConn and, hopefully, not get lost this time!

I'll start workouts again on Friday. Playing golf again on Saturday. We'll go sailing (may the Universe keep me safe) on Sunday. We haven't been since my accident. I'm quite nervous. We've been watching the America's Cup which has been amazing! We just watched yesterday's races on YouTube and it's 8 to 8. One more race and whoever wins it, takes the Cup! It has been so great! Team Oracle has come back from being down 6-0 and they started out at -2 due to a penalty during the World Cup. It's been so exciting!

Hi Jane! Hope you had a great Hump Day!

Yikes! Forgot to post yesterday.

I ran 3.5 miles last night. It was still rather warm but cooler temperatures are coming. My legs are still a bit sore.

Tonight and Friday will be rest days. Tonight we are going to hear Mitch Albom (writer of Tuesdays with Morrie and The Time Keeper) as he is coming to our small town to speak as part of the "One Book" program where everyone in town is encouraged to read the same book. Tickets were only $25 or $10 and you got a galley of his next book, which is cool. I'm going with Mom and my sister.

Friday is a rest day as I have a 5K on Saturday morning at the Plains Peanut Festival. I always love this race. Nice hometown feel and the course is relatively flat.

Tricia ~ Enjoy your half day off and the concert tonight.

Alisha ~ I'm sorry about Maria. Hope she feels better soon! I'm glad you got to take a hike. Great job on skipping the soda, chips and cookies. Don't worry about blowing up at your brother. I'm sure he has forgiven you. That's the great thing about families. They are more forgiving than other people.

Kitty's face is not as swollen. She still looks bad. We found a big rattle snake in front of the front door last night (Dad killed it). I'm betting that kitty got a dry venom-less bite. Poor kitty. She does not appreciate the antibiotic drops I have to put in her eye. She gets all mad.

Today is belly dancing. Tomorrow will be Tantric Toning Tai Chi.

My glands under my chin are super swollen. My nose is runny. I feel dreadful. But, one must power on, right?

Good news is that yesterday my boss (aka my Dad) had a meeting with our client that went very well. We got a whole month extension (plenty of time!), we got told how great I was (Yeah me!), and promised a 10,000$ contract per year with options for more. Yippee!! Looks like in total about a 30,000$ contract. Super fun.

Tricia- enjoy your concert, after that accident I would be skittish about going out on a boat too.

Jane- Yeah, brother seems to be ok. I think I owe him brownies or something. Your book signing sounds interesting.

Alisha

Jane - Enjoy your race Saturday! Sounds like a great one! I hope the weather cooperates and you get a low humidity day! I have read any of Mitch Albom's books. May need to check them out.

Alisha - I'm glad kitty is starting to look better! I can only imagine how hard it is to put drops in her eye! She'll forgive you - eventually!

So glad the extension came through and the client really likes you! Hope the work all pans out! i know you can use the cash!

Hope you feel better soon! Sending you healing energy!

I'm going to feed the pups soon, change clothes and head to UConn - the right one this time! lol

Have a great evening and have a Great Friday tomorrow!

TGIF!!!

Another rest day on tap. Last night was fantastic! Mitch Albom is wonderful speaker and really funny. I think he was floored that our little town had chosen his book to read. His two most famous books are Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven. He is also a sports journalist. A really interesting guy. I got my book signed as well.

Alisha ~ I'm sure Maria will forgive you for the eye drops as soon as she feels better. Congrats on the contract!! That is so awesome! I hope you feel better soon.

Tricia ~ I hope you enjoyed the concert.

Took a rest day. Got up early, went to the grocery store, bought a ton of water (we can't drink our tap water, we are on a well and there is too much iron in it for people or pets.) Then went to Big5 bought some shoes on sale, one pair of New Balance, and one pair of work boots. Got out of there for less than 72$. I stopped at our used book store, bought a cook book and a paper back. Stopped at Trader Joe's for normal groceries, came home put it all away. After all that I was tired, took a nap. Why is it that when I was a kid I fought naps, but now they are like the fruit of the Gods? Then I baked a chocolate snack cake, roasted some organic chicken drumsticks.

I will do my Tantric Toning dvd tomorrow.

Kitty is much better. Her eye looks ok. She seems to have forgiven me for the eye drops.

Jane- How was the race? So glad that the reading was fun and interesting. I will have to look into his other books too.

Tricia- Thanks for the healing energy.

Alisha

Evening ladies!

Jane - Glad you had a great time at the meet and greet with Mitch Albom and you got your book autographed!

Alisha- Woo-hoo on a good shopping day! Glad kitty is doing better and has forgiven you already!

The concert was fabulous! Stephen got to meet him after. Gary Burton came out to the lobby after the show to sign autographs and Stephen got his picture with him. He was so excited! We didn't get home until 11:30 and I was exhausted by Friday morning! We have a banjo concert on October 12th with Bela Fleck. That at least is on a Saturday! I'm getting too old to stay out so late! :(

Work was busy, so at least the day went by really fast! We played golf this morning. It was beautiful out, but it got warm by 11. Glad I wore shorts!

Pray for me- Stephen wants to go sailing tomorrow! Shouldn't be bad. The wind isn't supposed to be up too high.

Have a great night!

Burned my thumb this morning and so the Tai Chi didn't happen. It hurt most of the day. Ouchie.

I may take tomorrow as a rest day.

Alisha

OWWWWWIIIIEEEEE! Been there, done that! I know how much that hurts!

Hope it's better quickly and you can get back to SOP!

Hi Jane! Hope you had a great weekend!

We went sailing today with no injuries! Yay! Of course, we barely had any wind, so that helped a lot! We tried out our spinnaker and used the screecher again. Helped a bit. At least I didn't hurt myself this time! lol

Here's to a fast work week!

Happy Monday (I think).

Saturday I ran the Plains Peanut 5K. I love this race! I did not love the pile of manure that was on the side of the road. We had to pass it twice and the stench was awful! At least it made me run faster. I did not do my best time but finished 2nd in my age group. My sister finished 3rd so we both got our awards from President Carter. That is always cool!

Yesterday was a 11 mile run. It was so cool in the morning so I slept in a bit later, which was nice.

I will workout today but not sure what. My sister is sick this morning so we usually do our leg workout as a partner workout so I might do something different with my other sister Mary. My legs have been a bit sore anyway.

Alisha ~ I hope your thumb is better today. I did that on my hot iron once and had to keep ice on it all whole day while I was at work. I tend to burn my fingers often. I am not a big napper. I always feel bad when I wake up. My mom is the Queen of the 10 minute power nap.

Tricia ~ I'm glad you had fun at the concert. I hear you about the late night. I didn't even have a late night on Thursday but since I'm usually in bed before 10, it threw my sleeping off. I'm happy that you had a positive sailing experience.

I will do yoga class DVD with Gary Bromley later today. I am still fighting this ear ache/swollen gland yuck.

Its nice and cool today. Yippee!

Dad and I went to Costco and bought him a Nikon Cool Pix in red. This way he will be able to find it easily in his car. The black ones kind of disappear in plain sight. I bought Mom and myself some pants. We got the Gloria Vanderbilt ones in purple, aqua, and yellow. I got them in capri length because I have short legs. Capri is usually closer to my actual size:eek:

The thumb is much better, ice not needed anymore.

Jane- I haven't learned to do the 10 min. power nap, but I can manage on 25 min. I carefully avoid the burns from ironing by not wearing iron type shirts:p You can't tell under my safety vest at work:p Your race sounds like fun, sorry about the manure, we get that around here too. Lots of horses and sheep. Congrats on the 2nd place finish. I hope you got a picture with President Carter for your race scrap book.

Tricia- I am glad that you were able to sail without mishap.
