Jogglers September 2013

I took a rest day yesterday. Today will be a 3-4 mile run.

We have to get our a/c replaced with a new unit. They can fix the problem but by the time they fix it, it will cost at least half of what a new unit will. So it will be replaced soon because I don't know how long it will last. They are also going to fix some of the duct work too because part of the house is warmer than the other part. I'm excited to get getting something new for the house.

Alisha ~ It was much cooler inside than out. It was miserable on Sunday afternoon but for some reason I was able to sleep really good with the windows closed and no fans. I grew up without a/c so maybe I'm just used to it.

What movie did you see yesterday?

Hi Tricia!

Morning ladies!

Alisha - Thanks for the info! Still not quite where I can get my juicer, but that is the cheapest it's ever been! Drat! Someday. What movie did you go see? Hope all that smoke is starting to finally clear up for you! It must really stink (no pun intended) not to be able to get outside!

Jane - Hope you got the a/c working!

Well, Saturday was good. We stayed home on Saturday. We were both exhausted! We had Kal Penn on Thursday, so the pups were nuts that night and Friday night too. Went sailing on Sunday. It was great going down to Bristol. I was ready to head home from there, but Stephen wanted to round the island. Big mistake! We hit really choppy water and crazy wind shifts. Had a really hard time getting home. It was scary for me. We had to use the motor because we kept losing wind as it would shift and that would push us by the waves and current the wrong way. Got through barely a narrow and shallow channel that was supposed to be shorter, but had to drop the main and use the what was left of our gas to get through. We used the jib to sail back, but we kept getting pushed back with every little bit of progress we made every time the wind would shift. As we were making our turn towards home before all that, I thought I broke my finger when I got knocked over as I was trying to sit down. So I was sailing with a messed up left third finger. It took a couple of hours to get back then the winch handle broke (it's plastic). We were trying to sail in to the marina and kept being pushed towards the rocks so we had to keep turning around and trying again. It was getting to sunset and there was one boat left coming in. I finally convinced Stephen to ask for help. We had been trying to get into the marina for an hour. They towed is to the transit dock. We thanked them and I went to get gas for the boat motor while Stephen started putting things up. Got home around 8:30. I took my sailing gloves off in the car and that's when the swelling blew up!

The bruising and swelling were terrible by Monday morning, so I called in and went to the doc. She told me no work Tuesday and the x-ray showed no break! Miracle! I've been super dosing on Ibuprofen and icing. It's finally starting to be bendable. Heading in to see my doc again this morning, then to work. I can actually type again without hunting and pecking, but I have to be careful. It still hurts if I get to crazy with that hand.

I am sailed out for a couple of weeks. I didn't sleep at all on Sunday night. All that kept going through my head and my brain wouldn't shut off. Slept great on Monday night and pretty good last night.

I am no sailor. Stephen needs a better first mate.

Have a great day!

Tricia- I am so sorry to hear about your nearly broke finger.

Jane- I'm sorry that you have to get a new AC. I have had to live without AC and its miserable.

Yesterday was a rest day. I had to drive my brother to the dentist, no problem, his teeth are healthy. But, his car is not, the clutch is dead and needs fixing.

I will do Athletic Step in a couple of minutes. I will do Slide n Glide tomorrow.

I'm so tired of the smoke. gah, just when we think it is getting better, the next day is worse again. The breeze off the delta goes in cleans it up, then goes out, and sucks the smoke back. yuck. Totally ruins my day.

I'm closer to being done with this project. I have had a pow wow with my IT man and my boss. Things look doable. I hope to be done with the whole thing within a week once I figure out the work flow with my software, images, and information. I have done over 80 restroom inspections. Yikes! Thats a lot of restrooms.

Alisha

Morning Alisha!

Sheesh! Is that fire ever going to be put out? Ugh. Still trying to blow some fresh, clean air your way!

80 IS a lot of bathrooms! Wow! Not as fun as elevators, I suspect. Hope you got to Athletic Step yesterday!

My finger is less swollen, but I still can't bend it and, now that I'm using it a little bit, I'm feeling pain in the joint. That's probably just from the event and will get better too, but dang! Ouchie!

Hoping to get back to my workouts by next week. Should be able to. I just want to play golf this weekend! lol

Tricia- No golf for you over the weekend, I just can't see how you would swing a club using one hand.

Jane-Is the AC ok? I hope its not too hot.

I did do AS yesterday and 25 minutes of yoga. I don't think I will do a workout today. I have to go out to the site (an 1 1/2 drive in each direction, towards the smoke btw.) and inspect 2-4 restrooms and a clinic inspection room.

Alisha

Hi!

Here is tonight's workout that can be done in 1, 2 or 3 rounds thus breaking up the reps.

66 Mountain Climbers
66 BOSU Jumps
66 Swings
66 Squats
66 Russian Twists
66 Push ups
66 Tire Flips
66 Walking Lunges
66 Seat Half Moons

Alisha ~ They got my a/c working but there is no telling how long it will last. It has a leak and the guy said he can't tell how big it is only that it's leaking so it could last 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months. So right now it is working and we have air. They ordered our new unit yesterday and the guy said that they should get it by early next week so hopefully we'll have it by the end of next week. Keep your fingers crossed that the old unit keeps working until then.

It is a tad bit cooler here with temps in the 80's and breezy. The humidity is low too.

Hope you the smoke clears out by you. I hate the smell of smoke.

Tricia ~ I hope your finger is healing. Wow...that must have been painful. I hope you are able to play golf this weekend.

I have to go to work early today, I hope to get SG when I get home, I have been saying that for a week:eek: Tomorrow will be Low Max.

I am up to my eyeballs in this report. I hope I make it out sane.:p

We had another big fire in the state. I'm guessing that is what is responsible for the latest bout of smoke.

Jane- I hope that hold unit stays functional for a while longer, fingers officially crossed. Well done on your workout!

Tricia- How are your fingers?

Alisha

TGIF!!

Here is my workout for tonight.

Bear Crawl – length of yard and back
Then

Run 1/2 Mile, 30 Jump Squats
Run 1/2 Mile, 30 Sandbag Shoulder to Shoulder
Run 1/2 Mile, 30 Speed Skaters (30 each side – total 60)

Then
Bear Crawl – length of yard and back

My new a/c unit will be installed on Tuesday. YIPPEE!! Current a/c unit is still working. YIPPEE!!

Alisha ~ Don't workout too hard. Hope you get through the report with your sanity. I hope they get the fires controlled soon. You've been dealing with that for a long time.

Tricia ~ Hope your finger is doing better today.

Hi ladies!

Alisha - Dang! You are getting a lot of fires this year! :(

Jane - Glad your a/c is still working and you'll get your new unit in just a few days!

Finger is still messed up. Seems like the healing process has slowed down. It's better, but still has some bruising and the joint hurts when I put any pressure on the finger to do anything. If it's not better by next Friday, I'll call the doc back. I think it just needs more time.

Have not, nor will I, played golf and won't be sailing this weekend. We can't sail anyway until we get a new winch handle which is between $70-!00. It's been nice and cool so far this weekend which is nice - kind of. I'm not looking forward to winter.

Still no workout. I'll get back to it. It's tough to want to when my finger won't bend all the way. Sigh.

Glad you guys are doing well! I'm thinking of just getting the cardio going again until my finger improves a bit more and i can do weights again.

Have a great Saturday night!

Yesterday we had a small fire in the house. A family member dropped a hot pad into the oven and it ignited and made quite the little fire in the oven. The smoke was awful. I didn't get a workout in because I had planned on it later in the day.

Today is a rest day. I have so much work to do on my report its very stressful. I will hopefully get back to my workouts this week. We shall see.

Tricia- I'm sorry about your finger. There is nothing the dr. would do for you. Rest, ice, raise it above your heart when you can (rest on a pillow) and relax for a couple of weeks on that finger. I know it seems like a lot, but you will feel better in about a week. Don't worry about the workouts for now. Healing comes first. You might want to wait on weights until after the finger heals because that would be asking too much of your body to heal from both a weight workout and your finger. Just do light cardio when you feel like it, none of this intense weights and no yoga. Except maybe some rapid breath of fire. No downward facing dog.

Jane- Great looking workout. I cannot wait for the fires to be out!

Alisha

Oh, no Alisha! Just what you needed! All that smoke from fires, then you get your own personal one in the house! Thank goodness it was contained in the oven! Hope there was no damage!

Hope you get through that report so you can relax!

That's my plan. Just do some cardio for now until it's better. I'm guessing by October I should be able to add weights back in. Trying to decide if I want to go with STS then or back on XTrain weight workouts with running. Yes, I'm still trying to get the running going again.

It's cooled off here since we had rain on Thursday night. It's nice, but I'm not ready to give up summer yet. Sigh.

Hi Jane!

Have a great night! Let's hope Monday goes by fast!

Happy Monday!

This weekend just blew by. I took a rest day on Saturday but I did work in mom's yard for 2 hours.

Sunday was a 8 mile run.

Here is tonight's workout. I'm doing legs but not using any equipment. For some reason my leg forearm and elbow are a bit sore.

50 Walking Lunges
30 secs jumping jacks, 30 secs jump squats
25 Jump Lunges, aka Split Lunges
30 secs jumping jacks, 30 secs jump squats
25 side load lunges right, 25 side load lunges left
30 secs jumping jacks, 30 secs jump squats
25 Brazilian lunges right, 25 Brazilian lunges left
30 secs jumping jacks, 30 secs jump squats
25 lunge-kicks right, 25 lunge-kicks left
Rest 2 minutes and repeat!

Alisha ~ I know you'll get the report done. Sorry about the fire. That's scary. At least you were able to put it out quickly.

Tricia ~ Hope your finger feels better soon. I agree with Alisha to rest it and it will be good as new in no time.

I didn't workout yesterday or today. I will get back on it tomorrow, probably the first hike I have done in a long time. The smoke is finally abated. yeah!!

My local Fresh & Easy grocery store has closed :( I'm mourning the loss of their fresh meats, organic fruits/veggies, and pork buns.

I am more confident now in my project. It is quite complex. But, I think I can finish it.

I ordered a new scale the other day, its shipped, now I just have to wait for my weight:eek::p I got some new pants from Kmart that are drawstring twill capris in tan and black. They work great for my job.

Tricia-Don't push it with the running until the finger feels better. You don't want your blood pressure to be too high, that will make it hurt more. I know from experience. I hope your finger feels much better soon. We are seeing cooler weather too, upper 80s. I suspect that we will get a high temp spell before summer gives up the ghost, we often get an Indian summer.

Jane-That looks like a great workout! Is the leg /forearm soreness better?

Good Morning!

Yesterday was a rest day. The new a/c unit is in and it's fabulous!! It feels like a different house. It was an all day job and I was glad to cut out of there at 12:30 when my sister came to hang around the house in the afternoon. It was getting hot in the house and I couldn't stand it. I tried to do stuff but I kept getting sweaty so I ended up reading and playing games on my Kindle. When I came home everyone was gone and the house was cool.

Today will be a 4 mile run. Then probably 2 off days as I have a 10K race on Saturday.

My left forearm still hurts a bit but it comes and goes.

Alisha ~ I'm sorry to hear about the store closing. I hate when my favorite places close. I'm so happy the smoke is gone and you are more confident about getting the project done. You can do it!!

Tricia ~ I hope your finger feels better soon. We are still in the 90's here and it looks like it will be in the upper 80's/low 90's for most of next week too.

I am going for a hike at the wetlands trail today. Its in the 90s here still, although its supposed to come down to the 80s tomorrow. I hope so, fingers crossed, I love the 80s:)

I took a day off work yesterday to rest. I will be working all day today on paper work.

Jane- Enjoy your run and your rest days.

Tricia- How is the finger?

Alisha

Happy Thursday!

Today is a rest day.

Alisha ~ It is still in the 90's here too. It will be in the 80's next week. Have fun on your hike!

Hi Tricia!

Hello ladies!

Alisha - So glad the smoke is finally gone! Glad to hear the project is coming together for you too! Great news all around!

Wait for your weight! lol

How was your hike today?

Jane - Yay for a new a/c unit and a cool house! We had some nice cool temps the last couple of days. We're back in the upper 70s and lower 80s. I'm not ready for summer to end!

Well, I haven't done anything yet workout-wise. I still can't bend the finger all the way and I have a large lump on the side towards the thumb. My middle fingers both curve in slightly on the side towards the thumb, but this is obviously bigger. Going to keep any eye on it and maybe call the doc back if it doesn't seem to subside soon. I wonder if it's a ligament or tendon that's inflamed? Not sure. I would think an x-ray would have shown that.

Anyway, I can use it a little more, but some things really make it hurt still. I think it's going to take significant time to heal completely.

Have a great night and Happy Friday Eve!

famous last words

I did go for a hike yesterday. It was so nice outside. Then, in the afternoon, there was a grass fire a few miles away from our house. :( Can't win for losing.

So, today is Jillian's Shred it with Weights Kettlebells, the upper body drills from MMA Boxing, and Stretch Max with the band.

I will be at home working on paper work all day.

Tricia- I'm sorry to hear that the finger is not better yet.

Jane- Enjoy your rest day.

Alisha

Alisha - I'm glad you were able to get a hike in when you did! Darn those fires!

Well, I had an interesting day. I came home for lunch today only to realize I had left my house keys sitting on the table by the door! I couldn't get in. Stephen was presenting his qualifying paper today, so he was going to be home late. I had to pick up some lunch out and sat in the office lot to eat. I left work at 5 and window shopped at TJ Maxx, then Target That killed an hour, then I drove to the bike path and sat in the car for a while. He was still at school at 6:30 so I drove to Lucky's, a local bar/restaurant, sat at the bar and had a couple of Guinnesses. He finally got home at 8:20! They accepted his paper, but ripped it apart. Bastards! He had been showing his paper to all his professors all along and they told him it was find, then tore it up today. He's so upset.

He worked on this thing for 2 years! I can't wait for him to finish so he doesn't have to deal with this crap any more!

Anyway, neither one of us had any dinner and, you know, I'm not even hungry. He wasn't either. I hope things all work out. If he has to ditch this work, it will add at least another year to his work.

Here's looking forward to better days!

Hi Jane! Hope you had a great Friday!
