Jillian Michaels on KFI

Does anyone listen to Jillian's radio program? I discovered her podcasts a couple of weeks ago and I'm hooked! It's surprising because I'm not a fan of the Biggest Loser but seeing her 30 Day Shred workout in Collage and seeing her on Oprah piqued my curiousity. I honestly can't tell you how I found it. I think it was a link from a thread on VF but I'm not sure. . . Anyway, I decided to download one of her shows and listen to it on my way to work one day and was pleasantly surprised. I went back and downloaded shows from the last 3 months. I just wish there was a way to chapter the recording in iTunes. Or maybe someone knows? She covers a number of topics each show and fast forward doesn't work. Anyway, I thought I'd share my new "find":

Look under the Sunday column for Jillian's show.

This sounds interesting, it'll give me something different to listen to while I wait at the airport to pick up DH each week!

I plan to create a playlist in iTunes to group them.

I listened to it weekly for about 4 months but then hit a wall with it. After awhile, it seemed like all the calls into the show were the same and Jillian became (IMHO) too preachy.

Lisa - I created a playlist in iTunes, too but I wish there was a way to break down the approx. 80 min. show into more than 1 "song" or chapter it in some way. Hope you enjoy it while waiting at the airport! :)

Karin - I can see how Jillian comes across to you as too preachy. Maybe that's what I need right now because she's helping me get motivated again with my diet. She makes it very black and white - eat this many calories, drink this much water, etc. but she also understands the emotions behind eating being a formerly heavy person herself. You know how some instructors or people just click with you and others don't? It just feels like what she's saying right now is clicking for me. I may get tired of listening to her after awhile but that's okay, too. Then it'll be on to the next thing. I like to keep learning and listening to many different sources on health issues and weeding out what I agree on and disagree on. It's all good. :)

Sue, ITA with your post. I'm sorry if I sounded negative in my post about Jillian. Like I said, I just reached a huge wall with her and was done. She has so much knowledge and really does motivate and understand people.

Actually in a weird way I think that I thought she was too preachy because I just couldn't keep up with healthy eating and regular exercise and I felt guilty. I couldn't stand hearing anymore about what I should be doing and feeling overwhelmed and not do anything. Psychology is interesting, isn't it?

Good luck!

Karin - I didn't think you sounded negative. In fact, I'm surprised no one has posted to say things like "I can't stand her" because I can see how she rubs people the wrong way. Yes, the psychology part is definitely interesting and maybe that's been the missing piece for me all along.

Have a good day.

Mary - Not a stupid question at all. That's one of the reasons why I wanted to share with everyone. It's FREE!!! :D Can't say that about many things nowadays. Of course if you go to Jillian's website she has all sorts of things for sale but the downloads are from the radio station's website. Oh, and the commercials are edited out so her 2 hour radio program is about 73-85 min. (for the ones I've downloaded so far).

Sue, I see what the problem is now. Hmmmm, I never have a big block of time to listen and I hope I'm not at the airport that long either! :( The only thing my iPod (iTouch) does is fast forward and then it doesn't even show an indicator of how much you have fast forwarded in the track. Ah well, it was free!

Sue - I tried to download the 11/9 show and it opens it and plays it ... I'm SURE I hit download - I did it twice. When You download it, is it supposed to go straight to itunes or something? When I tried to save the podcast, it tells me I have to download and pay for an updated version of Quicktime?

Mary, not Sue, but what I did was right click on the download link and then selected save target as. Saved it on my hard drive and then added it to iTunes. HTH.

Lisa - Thanks for helping Mary out. Can't your iPod just pickup where you left off in your Playlist the next time? I should know this answer since I have an iPod but I normally start a Playlist from the beginning each time. What I did after I transferred the show to iTunes was burn a cd. We have a bunch of recordable cds that DH got at a Black Friday sale one year and that seemed easier than futzing with the iPod and adapter for my car. The cd picks up where I left off so I can listen to a show in a day since the ride to work and home is 35-40 minutes.

Mary - Glad you finally got your download to work.

Sue, yes I think it will pick up where it last left off if I don't play anything else in between (like Cardio Coaches that I'm addicted to). I do have another psuedo Ipod I use for most of my Cardio Coaches so maybe that won't be a factor unless I play a special playlist cardio coach. Then of course I'll have to not play any music either....I play that when I clean house....hmmm, I may have a dirty house soon! :p:eek:
