Interesting note on Vick & Eagles

In 2001, the Eagles had a player named Damon Moore who was arrested for animal cruelty..he left his dog tied to a tree...while a stupid act to be sure, certainly lacks in magnitude to what Michael Vick has done.

3 days after his arrest, the Eagles released Damon Moore..it is the same ownership group and head coach that are in place now..as a lifelong fan of the team, I'm at a loss as to what changed.

I don't buy for one second that he is remorseful, I truly believe he's only sorry he was caught.

I'm a lot less of a fan than I was 24 hours ago, to be sure..some things are more important to me than the win/loss column.

I'm not 100% sure that Moore was released as a result of the cruelty charges - he also tore his ACL, and several NFL sources cite the knee injury as the reason for his release.

That same year (2001) Thomas Hamner, also of the Eagles, was charged (TWICE) with animal cruelty for beating his pit bull half to death. WHAT IS GOING ON with the Eagles?? Especially when Jeff Lurie said this in 2007:

"We're very disciplined in what we stand for," Lurie told reporters just over two years ago. "Let me give you an example -- a few years ago we had a couple players who were . . . to put this nicely, not very respectful of their dogs. . . . Well, we don't respect that. We don't do that. And they were gone from the team almost immediately if not immediately. That sets a tone, that these kinds of attitudes are unacceptable."

WTH?

WTH?

Exactly...what has made the unacceptable suddenly acceptable?? Lurie looked torn in all different directions at his press conference yesterday. Here is an owner that has said the #20 (Brian Dawkins) and the #92 (Reggie White) will never be worn by another player as long as he owns the team. He seems to have an appreciation for the legacy of the franchise, why take the ultimate gamble with Vick?

I have a feeling that if Vick even so much as J-walks, they'll cut him. There has to be less than zero tolerance for him if this even has the slightest chance of turning out positive.

I do remember Moore's knee injury, I just think (gut reaction) that the animal cruelty issue was the bigger reason.

I agree - he got caught

Money talks, & the Eagles bought. Bull feathers!
