Hi Cathe!

I am 36 years old. Had my 3rd child 2 years ago and I am still trying to lose those last 10 pounds which are mostly found around my middle. I am watching what I eat and though I could always improve there it is not that terrible. When I read various things on how to lose fat I see that there are 2 theories. #1 - Cardio is good for the heart but to lose weight you should do more heavy weight lifting. #2 To lose fat do more cardio. I'm not sure what it is I should concentrate on. I can see how both are beneficial to a heathly body but for now which one will help me to lose fat the fastest? I am not very strong in either area (cardio or strength) so I am thinking lose the weight first and then concentrate on the other things that need to be strengthened. Sometimes there is just to much information and I am not really sure how it applies to me and what I need. Anyway, thanks for any insight you can give me.

Hi Michele! Welcome to Cathe's place. While you wait on Cathe's response, pop over to the Open Discussion Forum and ask your question...you'll get lots of good advise there too. As one who is also battling those last 10 pounds (for the last ten YEARS! Ha!) I'll check and see what advice they give YOU! ;-)

While awaiting Cathe's reply, thought I'd take a moment to tell you that, I, too, had trouble with those pesky 10 pounds I'd put on having my two children. I did finally lose them, but it took both exercise and clean eating -- by clean eating, I mean no sugar, no white bread or white rise and no trans fats (hydrogenated oils). There's a book out there that I'm apt to recommend if you are confused, as I was, too, by all the information overload -- and not having any stable datums on which to align other datums, etc.

That book is READY, SET, GO! by Phil Campbell -- it's rather inexpensive and will put some stable data in place -- at least it did for me.

Hope those 10 pounds come off easily. :7
