When I got home last night, DH's mother left a weird message on the phone. I told DH to call her back. She told him that Obama had been arrested by President Bush and that Bush brought all the troops home from Iraq. We both have noticed a little forgetfulness, etc., with MIL but nothing this strange. We are both worried especially since DH's father is constantly driving the semi truck on long hauls (3-4 days at a time) and leaving her at home alone without letting us know or setting up care for her. Her health has been declining, but now we are worried for her safety. It is a long story but we have decided to lay the law down with FIL and insist that he stay home or find her live in help while he is gone. I truly believe her oxygen saturation is poor and that is causing the weird thought patterns. So, I guess we are in for a long journey with MIL but we have resolved that FIL must step up and take some responsiblity first. I am sure you guys understand...

<--Knows Melissa is frustrated with her FIL, but <--thinks that men (especially older men) go through denial when they see their spouse decline. They refuse to admit that the caregiver now needs care.
<--Is proud of Melissa for jumping in to help.
<--Thinks the worst part about getting older is seeing our parents' health decline.
