If someone visited your city or town....

Gate of India - Indian food (duh!)
La Luna - Lebanese
Il Fiasco - sort of new age fusion-ish cuisine
Mexicali Rosa's - *ahem* Mexican:p
Ben Thanh - Vietnamese

Great. Now I'm hungry:p

You know, this is really sad but as much I'd love to post my favorite local restaurants the veiled threats regarding the town in which I live and work prevent me from doing so. In fact incited me to change my profile & email SNM to ask them to delete a few posts.

<sigh> Never thought I'd feel threatened & afraid of posters on this board, but there it is.

Ooops, sorry to hijack your threat Tete........:p

I wanna visit Shelley's town...:9

I'm in a rural area, so these recommendations cover a few towns within a 25-mile radius:

Cafe Provence - South of France & Mediterranean inspired cuisine
Tokyo House - Sushi, sushi, sushi!
Little Harry's - Eclectic menu, some Thai, some Caribbean, always good
Fair Haven Inn - Mostly Greek - Must have the sauteed calamari
Steve's Park Diner - Best breakfast in town

Now...I don't live in Boston, but if I were to visit, I'd eat at Lala Rokh again. It's Persian cuisine and a fabulous dining experience (hope this one wasn't cheating) ;-).

Wow, Laura...that sucks! :(

I agree with Laura, I can't post the names of restaurants because that would pinpoint where I live.

That's really a shame, you guys. I'm really sorry...just thought it would be a "light" topic after some of the heavy stuff we've gotten into lately.

Well...maybe I'm nuts, but I started this thread, so here it is:

The Track for a quiet romantic meal when you don't mind spending the bucks

Enoteca Sogno for a great wine selection and wonderful food at resonable prices

Millie's for great breakfast and an eclectic juke box (Everything from Roxy Music to Love to Hank Williams---all three of 'em--Hanks, I mean!.)

Mamma Zu for funky atmosphere and amazing Italian food

Royal India for the best Indian food...and they're not afraid to spice it up! It's worth the trip to the 'burbs.

Commercial Taphouse for great beers and good music

Laura, what happened??! Obviously I miss all of the controversial threads. Perhaps I have controversyitis?

Anyway, take care. ((hugs))

Woodenhead ~ wood fired pizza. Amazing variety, last time I went I had a lobster curry pizza, before that carmelized onion, apple and chicken pizza:9

Siem Reap ~ Cambodian/Thai Cuisine, it's a 'hole in the wall' but the food rocks, we like it SPICY for the 'Woo Hoo' factor :7

Curry Original ~ it's friendly and has fabulous lighting (the older I get, the more I love that!) The food is excellent, interesting, spicy, tasty and nicely priced.

Le Chien Noir ~ Classic and classy, French cuisine, c'est magnifique!

The Lonestar ~ it's noisy and fun, the best salsa going. One of Kingston's best waterfront patios and Kingston has a ton of fantastic patios.

The hardest part is deciding where to take people, this is very much a tourist town in the summer and a hip-hop-happening University town the rest of the year. The variety of restaurants reflects the variety and diversity of patrons.

Take Care
Laurie:)

Oklahoma City:
Othellos - Italian
Charlestons - The best Baby Backs Ribs:9
Ted's - Mexican (I know but it is the best)
Rib Crib - BBQ
Petroleum Club - Best Steak

Anyone with kids, definately Ci-Ci's all you can eat pizza, pasta, salad, desserts buffet. Don't worry, there's plenty of salad with low-calorie dressings for those trying to eat clean:p if you can resist the yummmy pizza aromas. Not that I know alot about it, but their chewy, chocolate brownies are sooooo good}(

The Lakefront Restaurant on Lake Erie would be highly recommended. The food is great, the scenery to die for and the service is out of this world:)

Carrie:)

omiya- sushi
marias-italian
saharas-middle eastern/shishkebab
siam orchid-thai
and...the mirage- best diner in brooklyn.

In NYC:
1. Blue Hill - most of their ingredients are grown on their own farm

2. Gramercy Tavern - restaurant perfection

3. Le Bernardin - seafood perfection

4. Grimaldi's - pizza perfection

5. Masa - never been, never will, but I can dream, can't I??
