I have sore lats......YESSSSSSS!!!!!

After quite a while of doing weight trainning, I woke up this morning and finally, finally, finally, have a sore back from working it, especially the lats. Some of you may think I am totally off of my rocker getting excited about being sore, but I have never been able to target my back...never. When I worked my back, I would feel it everywhere else.....shoulders especially...but, never in my back. I really want a nice, firm back, sexy back. I have been doing weights for quite a while on my own and just started doing Cathe's MIS and Body Max in the last month. I love these tapes and have seen some minor results already. I think the secret to working your back correctly.....for me anyways, is I have to really focus on that muscle. When I do back with Cathe, I don't keep up with her reps. I go at my own pace so I can target better. I am on my way to a great looking back. Thanks for letting me ramble. If I would have called any of my non-Cathe "friends" and said this, there would be people at my door with white coats on waiting to take me away....they just don't understand. LOL

Good job Kim. The back is often neglected because we don't see it in the mirror! But the back is very important since so many daily activities require bending forward. It's good to balance that out by strengthening our back muscles. Helps open up the chest more.

I would like to be able to do a pull-up but I just have not gotten around to setting up a plan or finding something convenient to pull up on. That is such a great complete back exercise. If you have any brilliant ideas let me know.

I really know where you are coming from on this. I have found it very difficult to work my back, too. It's taken about a year for me to really develop my back to the point where I can see the work. You know in PowerHour, when Cathe says "We're looking for cleavage in the back muscles?" or something like that, during the rows? I have that cleavage now - and believe me, I worked hard for it. I just think some people have a hard time building the back. If you REALLY squeeze your shoulder blades when you're doing rows you will get there.

I have to admit, though, I am still using a really low weight for one-arm rows. My lats are developing even though the strength isn't necessarily progressing that fast. I am getting a more triangular shape in the upper body from the one-arm rows.

You know, deadlifts really work, too. I used to be tempted to blow these off, but Cathe puts them in practically every video so I figured there MUST be something good about them. My lower back is a lot stronger from the deadlifts.

You'll have to forgive me for rambling on - I just did MIS and I am on an endorphin high!
