I Feel So Good!!!!

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
I wore my new Nike running shoes and ran-walked my second mile tonight. I added sprint intervals and walked to recover. I did not concern myself with speed this time. I just focused on completing the mile. This was enjoyable and fun! :7 The beautiful weather and my favorite praise music helped! Glory! :7 I know why all the Cheetahs love running now! I was still floating on a cloud when I did my grocery shopping tonight. :7 I am excited to add running to my rotation. I could get addicted to this intense high. :7

I am a Nike girl all the way. My stride was much more natural in these shoes. I did not feel like I needed an adjustment after my run tonight.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Hi Heather!!

I can't wait until the weather breaks here at the Jersey Shore, because I am going to start running as well. I'm not going to worry about time, just focusing on completion, as you did. I broke down and spent some extra $$$ on Nike Air, and I think that purchase was the straw that broke the camel's back as far as starting to run is concerned, I've never felt a more comfortable pair of shoes!

WTG Heather!!!

Can't wait to hear your running stories as well, Jerry!

Looks like our Cheetah group will be growing ever larger still.:D

Hi Heather! Whoohoooo for new well-fitting running shoes!! And WHAAAHOOOO for run/walk-ing your second mile!! ^5! :D

Good for you Heather! I wish I could run, but with the hip replacement, its just not in the cards for me, although I like to add "baby jogs" when I do itreads.
Which Nike shoes did you end up buying? I can never find ones that fit right?

That is sooo good to hear Heather! I'm happy for you.
I love to run as well. It's so invigorating! There's a track here by my house. It's super huge. About a 1/2 mile once around. I love, love, love running it. I usually try to run or jog it 4 times around that way i get in a nice 2 mile run and then i walk it 2x to get a mile walk.

Now, i have asthma. chronic asthma. And before i started working out and running, i used to get these bad asthma attacks, but ever since i started running, i feel so much better and i haven't had an asthma attack in MONTHS! I love it!
So i say, good for you Heather! Keep it up!

Wendy, i now see why you guys are called Cheetahs! ;)

Good for you, Heather!
I'm not a runner myself, but I'm waiting for the weather to dry up enough for me to start my walking season (I may not run, but I can walk pretty fast!).

That's great to hear Heather! I've never been a runner (bad ankles) but recently started and I can only get myself to about a mile without having to slow the pace. I'm with you on the Nikes! I just replaced mine on Saturday with a pair of Adidas cross trainers and they're super cute but giving me terrible blisters on the back of my ankles. The fit is fine though?! Any suggestions?!

Good for you Heather. I admire your "go get um" attitude.

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

Congrats, Heather! I'm so proud of you! I just got back into running after a few years away from it (bad knees) and I am really enjoying it. I could never run without my Itreads, though. Grace has made running fun again! I used to barely be able to force myself to run for 30 minutes straight--I only run on my treadmill, not outdoors...I'm weird about being too far from home...anyhoo, you might want to check those out. I ran 8 miles on Friday and 4.5 yesterday. It's really fun.

Congrats again on discovering it and enjoying it!!!

Heather, I'm just starting to realize how much I love running. For me, I'm not as concerned with my speed, I'm just enjoying being outside. What in the world am I going to do when it gets cold again?

EDTA: I can see now why Cheetahs love running too.

Way to go, Heather! I am a new runner as well. It's like discovering some hidden treasure, isn't it! I'm so glad you did so well! Keep it up!

Back to Reality

Thanks for all the encouragement! I felt great for 24 hours, but I crashed last night. My friend’s cardio boot camp class at the club pushed me over the edge and brought me back to reality. This class is not just hard. It is hell! The cardio boot camp trainer who wanted me to sprint Friday night during my 1-mile fitness test leads this class. She told me last night that she knows what I can do now, and she pushed me really hard. She wants me to improve my running time before next month.

I sat in my car after class wondering what hit me and talked to a friend on my cell phone until I recovered enough to drive home. Oh my word! I crashed on the living room floor because I was too wiped out to take another step. Thankfully, this is a planned rest and recovery day. I slept until 7:00 a.m., enjoyed the band segment of Stretch Max, and still feel like I have been run over by a steamroller. One more week of this class before I start a new rotation. I can do this! This class is definitely for the challenge because it is way too grueling to be fun. The instructor affectionately refers to me as Heather Woman. One of the girls in class who has never met me before misunderstood her and asked me if I am Wonder Woman. LOL! She obviously thinks I am! Pit Bull (my name for her) was my personal trainer before I started training with Cathe at home. She is more like Jillian Michaels, and she keeps making the class harder and harder so none of us can adapt to it. Ugh! Is it Friday yet? I slept too late to fix my steel-cut oatmeal. Hopefully, sprouted 7-grain cinnamon raisin bread (the soy free version of Ezekiel bread) with natural peanut butter will give me the same energy.

Jerry, welcome back! I am looking forward to reading your running adventures.

Tammi, new running shoes should not cause blisters. You can try better socks, but I would likely sell the shoes at a consignment shop and buy a pair of Nike running shoes if that brand works for you.

I need to get to work, so I am sending a group Heather hug to everyone for the responses.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Heather -- you are such a trooper!! But honestly, how can someone write about running in a thread titled "I Feel so Good!!!" -- LOL!!! Just teasing you ;) :* :7

Best of luck to you, and you know you're high up on my prayer list.
