hey all!! i hope we are all having a good Friday!! i did slow and heavy legs and shoulders last night for the first time...i had mixed feelings...i am slightly sore but not totally sore today...i def need to get a barbell i have been squating 40lb with 2 20 lb dumbells but i think i can go heavier but i have to have a barbell for that...i def need to get used that SUPER slow movements especially after doing the firm they new move that slow! All in all i Liked it but i have to give it more time....i thought i heard something rip in my knee but it feels fine today...

Yes, I'd definitely say the S&H workouts are great. Unfortunately I haven't gotten a barbell so that I can feel it fully yet, because my boyfriend has 2 in San Diego. I'll have them when I move, so there's no use in spending the money to get one now. I, too, did only FIRM workouts for years, so Cathe was a total shock to my system, but it's by far worth it. Your body will thank you :) Oh, and I think you'll feel the other upper body ones a lot more, I did anyway :) Just make sure to go as heavy as you can with the legs :)

Enjoy

Hi Lisa & Sherry & Sara-

I use to have the Slow/Heavy series but exchanged them after a couple times. I just never felt like I was getting a good workout. Maybe I should have stuck w/it a bit longer. Anyway, did you find good results? Weight loss/toning or just strength gains?

Hey Charlene,

I think that if you don't go heavy enough with your weights, you will feel like you came out with nothing. I did it the first couple of times with the same weight that I would use for PS, and it was too easy (fun, but definitely too easy). I think that if you ever have extra money and some very heavy weights lying around, I would try them again :D

Hi Charlene!

When I first started using S&H, I didn't feel I was getting that great of a workout either. I spent a long time getting my form down, then I gradually increased the weights. That, for me, has made a huge difference. Weight loss is not one of my goals, so I didn't care about that. I did get a lot more definition, plus gained a lot of strength. Really, you simply may not just care for this type of workout. Different strokes for different folks! :7

THANX FOR ALL THE REPLIES...I THINK I'LL GO HEAVIER...HOW MUCH DO SOME OF YOU GUYS USE FOR DIFFERENT EXCERCISES? JUST TO GET AN IDEA....OH BY THE WAY SHERRY I SAW YOUR PICTURES AND I AM SPEECHLESS!!! 5 KIDS?????!!!!! INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!

Lisa, I think out of all the Cathe tapes, I would part with S&H last. It is VERY effective, but I would stick with it a lot longer than three weeks if you can mentally keep it up. I developed more definition with this type of work than any other. As for weights, I go very heavy. I don't even want to throw out weights, but I'd suggest you try to go as heavy as you can possibly go (safely) so that you can JUST complete the 8 reps and maybe even just 6-7. If you can do the 8 fairly well...then move it up. Keep challenging yourself. Every body is different so don't go by what others can do....do YOUR best.
