Hydration Systems

Does anyone know which type of hydration system is best; Camelback or Belt Pack systems? Should you use one or the other depending on what activity you are doing? Are they easy to clean, to keep your water tasting fresh? What website/catalog/store has a good selection?

Thank You for your input.

Here's my 2 cents on the subject... I don't think one is necessarily better than the other. It just depends what your needs are. I use a Fuel Belt that has 6 little bottles. I like this system because I can fill some of them with water and some with Gatorade, rather than being constrained to just one type of beverage (as you would be with a Camelback). I love my Fuel Belt, have had no problems with it whatsoever, and would recommend it to anyone. The bottles are super easy to clean, and don't impart any kind of funny taste to my drinks. I've got no complaints. :)

Hi Dianne, I actually just replied to this under the equipment thread but I'll reply here too. The Camelback systems I think are great for hiking or biking, but for running, personally I find them to be annoying and much prefer the fuel belts. I have the Saucony fuel belt with 4 water bottles. It is very comfortable, they are easy to clean. www.Roadrunnersports.com has a nice selection of fuel belts.

Like Emily, I also have the 6 bottle Fuel Belt and love it. I bought an extra pouch that slides on it (there's already one in the middle of the back) and it's come in handy for personal 'feminine' items and mints for the longer runs!
