Huge shout out to my Cathlete fitness friend!

Cathlete
Who just rocked her very first race! She did a 10K and took third place for her age group! I'm so proud of her! She's my personal fitness hero and her dedication to running and health is awe-inspiring.

I won't say who she is in case she wants to maintain her privacy, but if she wants to come forward for her Cathe forum kudos, she knows who she is!

You go, rocket girl!

THANK YOU MORNINGSTAR!

The race was amazing and so much fun.

I'll definitely be racing again.

And you know what, you're my personal fitness hero!

Congratulations Janis!

What a fantastic race and taking 3rd place! That is soooo awesome! I'm so proud of you!

Can't wait to hear about your next one!

The run was amazing, as first races often are. It turned out to be a beautiful day too.

In the beginning I was running with a small group of 10k runners I met at the starting line, but they fell back and I found myself in a group of ladies running the 5k. I didn't notice any 10k runners in front of me turn off the 5k route to ascend the enormous 30%+ grade road that was the main part of the 10k route - we had the pleasure of doing it twice - so I kept going. One of the 10k runners running behind me saw me overshoot the turn, so he stopped one of the security guards, and asked him to go get me. So sweet and kind of him!

Between running an additional 2/10th of a mile and the bloody hillx2 my 10k times were not spectacular, but for a first run I am very, very happy.

Thank you Gayle, Jean, Travis Receiving congratulations from other runners means a lot to me!

Tricia - Hey, you wanna run the Napa Valley Half Marathon with me sometime?

Michele - Thank you Miss Lee! I thought of you yesterday along the route! Yes, you! I was listening to the Press Play workout during my run, and was thinking that if you hadn't turned all of us onto Coach Sean, I'd still be slugging it out on the treadmill. :)

I thought of Vee, too. But I am sure we all do when we run to Press Play! It is so cool to feel so connected to so many lovely, interesting and athletic ladies.

Of course, MY Cathlete fitness friend ran with me the whole way even though she was at home in Toronto! ((hugs)) Morningstar.

Janis, I really enjoyed your race report! It's amazing that you placed in your first race despite overshooting a turn and having to backtrack! That's AMAZING!!!!! You GO girl!!!! :D

I am so touched that you thought of me during your race! Thank you for posting -- you really made my day :'). Press Play is an amazing workout, isn't it? I simply never tire of it, or cease to be inspired. I am now friends with many of the people mentioned in the workout, like our own Mama Deb, Sean's A #1, Tanya from Australia, and of course, Vee. It's a rush every time I hear their names! :D

BTW, I started running (jogging) about a year ago and I've done a couple of 5K's. I have another one this weekend and I think I'll use PP! Best wishes to you in your future races!! I'll be keeping an eye out for your race reports!

Way to GO!!!

Hey Janis!! Congratulations!

I do the Gate River Run which is a 15k every year- but I only do it to make sure I still can-That is fabulous that you placed!

Thanks Beth!

The Gate River run sounds, fantastic, do you run along the river? Have you been baking any bread? I am still baking six loaves a week. I'm still using Peter Reinhert's SF Sourdough recipe from Artisan Breads Everyday. It does get easier and easier.

Michele - I'll be cheering you on next weekend. I'd love to hear all about it! No matter how many times I listen to Press Play it always makes me cry. So humbling, yet highly inspirational. Is MamaDeb Sean's wife? I noticed the PP workout is not on Jim Maclaren's website at the moment, is it being re-worked, maybe?

Thank you both for your kind words of congratulations!

Thank you, Janis! I'll let you know how it goes!

I agree that PP is humbling and so inspirational! I'm not sure why it's no longer available on Jim's site. I have no idea what's going on. The last I heard, which was about a year ago, Jim was in a nursing home and his sister was planning to find him a place closer to where she lives. I let them know at CC that PP was no longer for sale on Jim's site, and I noticed just the other day that there's a contact link on the Cardio Coach homepage for anyone interested in the workout.

Mama Deb is DebbieH here on the Cathe forums! You might know her as one of Cathe's New Jersey Road Trip coordinators! :D
