Hip Lifts

I am having difficulty lifting my hips off the floor for hip lifts or "rocket shoots". ;(

When I was trying to learn how to do pikes on the ball, a message on the forums suggested thinking of a string pulling the hips up toward the ceiling. That visualization helped me to be able to do the move. Any similar "trick" to learning to do hip lifts?

Thanks.

Hi!

Would like to know some tips for this also...My form problem is really with the darn rocket shoots. I feel it more in my back so I think I am doing them entirely wrong.

Thanks Cathe!

Try thinking of using your lower abs to help you stamp your feet on the ceiling. (I don't think you have to 'shoot' as high as they do to get an effective ab workout, some of the height can come from pressing the arms down into the floor a bit---when Cathe does these in Core Max, she stretches out her triceps afterwards, saying that they have tension in, which would only be from using them to help with the upward motion).
