Hi, Everyone!

My name is Karen, and I'm "back" after a 2 1/2 year hiatus. I say "back" because I was (and am) mostly a lurker.

You guys all inspire me! I am amazed at what you can do. I'm just getting back into working out after several months off (moving, illness, new job, etc.).

I love Cathe's workouts and am just getting back into the groove. I have the Body Blast series and am working my way through that right now. I was so pleased because I made it all the way through the step portion of SJP without stopping last night. Woohoo! I've just been doing step, weights, and abs sections, but last night I did it ALL.

My nemesis is the barbell lunges in SJP. I totally die on them every time. The pulses kill me. With my little 15 lbs. on the bar, too. Pathetic, really! And she mocks me during the pulses, too! On the 3-pulse slow and low, she says, real chipper, "But they're slow ones!" and then she answers for you, "YES, WE KNOW!" And then when you are on leg #2, on the 7 pulse she says, "And give yourself a pep talk while you're down there!" It's all I can do to remain upright and breathing, LOL!

But I am shameless. I just stop and rest when I need to. I figure that's what that little pause button is for, LOL! I do finish everything, just not necessarily in the same time frame as the rest of the group! Once I can do the weight section in SJP respectably, I'll move on to the other strength workouts in the series. Oh, how I dread Legs and Glutes! But I guess the ones we dread are the ones we need!

It's really surprising how quickly you start to get back in shape once you commit to working out regularly. The other day I did Kari Anderson's Sweat Express and tore right through it. And she used to mop the floor with me! THANK YOU, CATHE!!

And thanks to all of you for keeping me inspired and motivated. You are an awesome group!

Hi Karen! WELCOME BACK! Hey, pulsing lunges are HARD with no weight! Glad to have you back. (If I am not being too nosey, what was your old screen name? I'm an OLDIE here! :7)

Hi Karen! Good to see ya back and at it!:7

Hey, those lunges hurt period.:p And don't get me started on those devilish leg presses.}(

Hey Karen I TOTALLY can relate I took almost a year off and I too can't lift but a measley 20lbs.

Welcome back!

Hi Karen! Welcome back! Sounds like you're off to a great start! WTG!

And I feel the same way about those lunges in SJP!

(Hmmm...I must be hungry...I typed "lunches" instead of "lunges"!! :p )

Hi, Amelia!

You're gonna LOVE SJP! The step portion is super fun! Hi-Low is great too. The weight section is really not bad at all. Just those dang lunges!

Enjoy SJP!

:) Karen

Hi, Debbie!!

I remember reading your wonderful, inspirational posts way back when! You know, this is so sad, but I cannot remember my old screen name. I didn't post much.

Keep on dancing!

:) Karen

Hi, tneah!

Thanks for the encouragement. Odd... you just named the other exercise I really hate, leg presses! And SJP is blessedly free from them. Leg presses remind me of the old Firm days working out with the robot women... jmho!

Here's to wo heaven!

:) Karen

Thanks, Beth! Our barbells may be light, but they are righteous! And we shall prevail! Congrats on coming back after a year away!

We'll be lifting like Cathe in no time! Right???:7

Cheers!

-Karen

Thanks, jodijodi! It's good to know I'm not the only one who dreads them. LOL, I WISH they were lunches!

:) Karen

First of all it's wonderful that you've found your way back to leading a healthy and fit life.

Congrats on your workouts and keep up the great work.

Oh, and don't think that using 15# on SJP lunges is pathetic. First of all, there are many who can't even do that and besides we all have start somewhere. Besides, as you said you're already able to make it through workouts that you couldn't get through before. Just think where you'll be in a few months.:)

Keep up the great work.
