Help with losing fat/weight

Hello Cathe, I watched and taped (via dvr) your stretch workout on Fit Tv a while back and I loved it. I am a 30 year young mother of two children ages 5 and 1 but I am 30+ pounds overweight with a lot of health issues. I have been trying to get this fat off of me for the past 5 years but having a hard time. Most of my fat is in my mid-section, my thighs, and my back with a little on my upper arms. I was underweight for years and didn't realize it is better to be thin than to be overweight. I am tired and my body hurts with all of this weight on it. How do I go about getting rid of this fat (I think the people at the National Fitness Challenge said I had 20% of body fat) and what type of shoes/clothing should I wear? I wouldn't mind being a little muscular in my arms and legs. Thank you.
