HELP, PLEEEASE!!!

I've been doing the workouts since I first got "Basic Step & Body Fusion". That's been well over a year now. In the process, I've developed definition & tone on my upper body, it's my lower body that's a pain in the butt! I can feel my hamstrings and quadriceps, but can't seem to shrink my thighs! Am I doing anything wrong? Do I need to increase my cardio, drop to lower weights? I watch what I eat & try not to cheat alot (which hasn't been that often anyway).

Please advise. Thanks
PS: Love the idea of the catalog. Hope this is a yearly thing.

You've only mentioned 1 workout. What else are you doing to change the shape of your body? If you are only doing 1 workout over & over, you will need to incorporate a different workout.

Try adding some all resistance training to your routine.

Luzjim,

Have you checked out the "Rotation Forums"? Perhaps one of those, with a clean diet ("Eat To Live or "Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle")books are fantastic.

What ever you do, don't give up. There is help in these forums, you just have to look, and ask many questions. People are here to learn and help.

Also get yourselve a journal and jot down your eating habit, and exercise schedule, then see where you are. As you improve in those areas, so will your body.

Good luck, keep us posted,

Janie

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

I've been doing every Cathe workout that I have in my arsenal, including the monthly rotations. Like I said, I can feel the muscle tone, but somehow my thighs refuse to shrink at all. It's as if they're holding on for dear life. Should I do leg work twice a week to shock them? Or is this a genetic anomaly that I have to live with? Advise.

Not Cathe, but you may try lowering your step height or only doing step once or twice (at most) per week. My thighs have developed a lot because of the step. I have also heard of other people experiencing the same issue. Also, do you run on the treadmill (or outside)? If you don't, try incorporating this into your routine. Runner's legs typically are leaner per se. A combination of stepping, kickboxing, and running should lean out the thighs, while maintaining definition. I don't think you should drop your leg weights, unless of course you are using 80 pounds for squats (if you are tell me your secret-LOL). Is it fat that you are seeing or just a lot of muscle (or fat on top of muscle)? Everyone loses weight differently, and obviously in different spots. Unfortunately, for women, we tend to lose the breast tissue first and the hips, thighs, and butt fat last;(

HTH until Cathe can post:)

Well, it is possible that you're going to have to live with slightly bigger thighs than what you want. I know I certainly do! But I can't emphasize enough how much rest and clean eating will help you there.

I've been working out for years and years, doing tons of running, cathe, etc. Only when I dropped my workouts (not really intentionally) down to yoga two times a week plus whatever 1 or 2 other workouts a week I felt like doing did my butt and thighs begin to show some actual shape. Like you, I HAD muscle, it was just hidden by other stuff :).

My diet has also evolved a lot in the last two years to incorporate tons of raw vegetables and fruits.

Now I don't think yoga per se was the magic bullet. I think it was just a different activity than I was used to, mixed in with the extra rest I took for myself and the cleaner eating. And I don't think working out everyday is bad, either, just as long as you take time out here and there to let your body recover.

You might want to do a forum search on "freestyle training" ... I'm not an expert on this topic at all, however, I remember some postings about reducing leg size using this technique. Good Luck! Deb
