HELP! I need someone to push me

to get going on my workout for today! I'm feeling unmotivated and a tad frustrated. I've been wearing my workout clothes for hours and just haven't had the "umpf" I need to get going.....blah blah blah.

Anyone out there?

Whenever I'm in a slump, for example, if I were to do IMAX 2, I would tell myself that I will only do the first couple Intervals and then quit (it's better than nothing, right). Well, after I get through the first couple intervals I tell myself "okay I'll do the next two and then quit" and so on until the entire workout is done. Granted there have been a few times when after the alotted time I give myself I find that I can't get into the workout at all and then I actually do stop. Some days it's just not meant to be. But most of the time I find that if I get started and get warmed up then I get in the mood to do it.

Hope that helps a little!

Thank you, Katie, that does help! My revised plan is to do L&G standing leg only. :p I'll probably end up doing the floor work, too though.

Thanks again,

Connie

Connie,

That's pretty funny. I can't count the times I've cleaned the entire house in my workout clothes because I was procrastinating. You may already know this but maybe it helps to say: once you get started, you'll be fine. Start warming up. You'll be done with the workout in no time.

When I lack motivation for weights, I do floorwork so I can saying I'm lying down!

HTH!

Thank you, Lunacat! :) Usually I love to workout, but my period has got me feeling very lethargic and unmotivated. But, thanks to the awesome support and advice from this forum, I completed my workout. Once I got going, I forgot about my lethargy. :p Wellll, I did skip cardio for today. I'll make it up sometime later in the week though. ;)

Connie--

Because I have fallen off the workout wagon 2 years ago & am just now getting back in gear, I have found it EXTREMELY helpful to be part of a daily check-in. This way, I'm accountable to other people for working out and eating healthy. In the past, when I felt like skipping a workout or checking out for awhile, no one cared because no one really knew about it--but now I feel guilty if I don't check in, plus it motivates me to know that there are others who are struggling as well and who want to motivate me to continue working out when I REALLY don't feel like it.

Right now I'm part of a Summer Shape-Up Check-in and we'd be more than happy to have you join us for motivation, venting, cheering, whatever . . . I know that I have pooh-poohed check-ins in the past and always assumed that all I needed was self-motivation, but I can assure you that this summer check-in has been a god-send for me!!! (especially because I am the world's WORST procrastinator and excuse-maker!!!!) }(

Ha Ha Connie!

I felt the same way yesterday. After a loooong weekend off, I just didn't want to start up again. I decided to just do the first half of Low Max when I got home from work. OH DARN. We had a thunder storm and the power was off till dinner time, had to go out to eat, than home and it was bedtime. Guess I'll try again this afternoon.

Did you get motivated yesterday? I still feel the same today. Forecast is for showers....

I had the same issue this morning :) I tis raining here & I woke up late. I am in a very cranky mood too. x( I got dressed, started the home theater uop and then sat down here with a cup of coffee. I typially use the method that veryoe above recommended (just get started) but on days like this where I can't even force mysel fto do that, I give myself the benefit of the doubt and either do it after work or take the day off (while praying for a storm to blow out my power - ha ha just kidding!)
