Help, gasoline smell!

DH and I were winterizing the lawn mower and emptied the gas tank. Well it emptied on our clothes and sneaks. I ran it through the washer 4 times and not only are the clothes just as bad, now the washer stinks and I have a ton of wash to do(kids have stomach bug, need I say more ) Any ideas how to get rid of the stink? I put the clothes outside to try to air them out and I ran the washer empty and now have the door open. I'm afraid to use bleach with gasoline. Anything at all? Thanks for the help.

I found a few things in a Google search. The suggestion of using an oil-based cleaner makes a lot of sense.

Thanks Gayle. I did google some stuff. I have everything airing outside in the cold so hopefully that will help some. I'll try the baby oil trick and vinegar. I hope it works because my good sneaks were involved in the incident
